Though this book is compared to the likes of The Ancient Magus' Bride, The Apothecary Diaries, and Snow White With the Red Hair, it doesn't fill its predecessors shoes of notable protagonists with a rich world. Our main character, Nina, lacks motivation or depth, being dragged around from scene to scene in a vague setting. What I did find interesting was the inspiration from the Middle East for the clothing and architecture which sets it apart from other books in the shoujo demographic.

Thank you NetGalley and Kodansha Comics for sending this e-book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

This was such a cute and quick read!

The artwork is beautiful and the characters are already rather lovable. The story is easy to follow and flows along nicely. It’s been awhile since I read manga, so this was such a nice treat to jump into. I’m thoroughly rooting for Azure and Nina, although I’m incredibly curious as to who her fiancé is.

Thanks to Netgalley and publisher for making it a Read Now ARC! I absolutely need book 2!

Nina was taken into the palace to replace the dead princess because of a resemblance in the eyes. From living on the streets to becoming a fake royalty that will marry another, Nina's life changes unexpectedly. The captor of Prince Azure helps her adjust to the palace life but it does not mean Nina has accepted the situation.

I think Nina is a fun protagonist to keep reading for. and the prince is a little mysterious, so I am curious to learn in more depth about his character. She stands her ground even if it may not do much, but it shows she does not accept being wronged. It is also kind of predictable but it does not take away my enjoyment of the story. I love palace intrigue and romance.

Definitely recommended.

Nina the Starry Bride 1 by RIKACHI

5 stars out of 5!

I thought it was going to be stupid. But, I'm a little bit in love with this series and now I'm going to have to read all the rest and tell everyone about them. But not too much, we don't want to spoil anything, do we??

The art is amazing, and everyone is beautiful in their own way. I'm a little bit in love with Azure.

Anyway, this manga is about an orphan: Nina who is plucked off the streets because she has the same coloured eyes as a dead priestess who is also a princess. Alisha, is the princess who was killed. This is about her journey on womanhood and learning how to embrace yourself.

I really enjoyed this and anyone who enjoys Manga will surely enjoy the book as well.

Fantastic read.

Nina the Starry Bride is a cute story about an orphan girl who is forced to assume the identity of the recently deceased princess so as to avoid political ramifications. While under her assumed identity, she begins to fall for her captor, Prince Azure. The romance in this manga is sweet and Nina is a fun protagonist to root for.

What an adorable and fun read! The artwork is amazing, the characters are adorable, and the plotline is very interesting. I was captivated from the start of this manga and definitely plan to read future volumes! Thank you to Net Galley, Rikachi, and Kodansha Comics for the opportunity to read this manga!

A charming story where everyone is a little bit heartbroken and the tale is made sweeter for it. I found the characters to be likable and the plot to be enjoyable enough that I look forward to reading the next installment.

A plague killed a lot of people on the Land of Farna. Sadly, the plague left Nina orphaned and having to “borrow” from the rich in order to survive. Nina is abducted due to the unusual color of her eyes and has to pretend to be a priestess-princess.
The illustrations are beautiful. The plot felt a bit predictable especially with the ending of the book. The story was a bit slow, but would recommend to someone who wants an easy read. I rate this manga 3.5/5.

Thank you NetGalley,’s and Kodansha Comics for sending me an ARC in exchange of an honest review of the book received.

If I’m totally honest I’m slightly disappointed in my rating of this manga. The concept and the artwork are stunning but I just felt a little bored during this volume. It felt a little slow and very predictable. As I say the artwork is absolutely gorgeous and I did enjoy the characters I just don’t think this was for me unfortunately.

Thank you NetGalley and Kodansha Comics!

"Nina had a rough start to life, orphaned and stealing to survive, only to be abducted for her unusual lapis lazuli eyes. But to her surprise, her captor, Prince Azure, ordained that she would live the life of a princess...specifically, that of the recently deceased priestess-princess, Alisha, who had her same eyes. Despite her changing fortune, Nina won't give up her old life without a fight. Azure might just be the one to finally match her wits, but how much can she trust him? And can she stop the feelings budding in her heart, knowing she must eventually marry another...?"

This was good! The art is gorgeous, and the plot is quite familiar, especially if you've read Yona of the Dawn and Snow White with Red Hair. I will pick up the next volumes to see where the story goes and see if it'll take a slightly different route than the manga mentioned above. Overall, quick read, easy to follow, and gorgeous artwork.

Thanks to netgalley for Arc of this manga.
It seems to be a very nice story, this first volume introduces us to the world and introduces us to Nina and what happens because she suddenly has to dress up as a princess.

Curious to continue the story.

Three stars. Quick read, LOVED the artwork. The story was cute—I didn’t love it exactly, but I was intrigued enough that I will most likely continue the series because I’m curious where it will go. I was especially intrigued by Gold Eyes—Azure. I liked how spirited but also kind-hearted that Nina is. I think I could really grow to love her character.

Great start to a series with a cozy exotic feel to the art. Nina is a playful and mischievous young women with bright blue eyes thrown into unusual circumstances and takes it in stride. Azure her costar is hard to pin down one minute kind the next aloof and distant. The story thus far is cute and leaves me wanting more. To know Nina's fate? Does Azure become king? What do the stars have in store for them? love? death? tragedy? I need more!

I got hooked from the start to the story of Nina and Azur. Both characters met in an unusual way and then, get in an agreement to work together in order to protect the country. Nina's story is a sad one, she is an orphan who survives by stealing from people then she ends up being sold as a slave to Prince Azur who was in need of a replacement to the deceased princess Alisha with the same blue eyes, by chance, Nina has the same color of eyes and looks like the princess. Now, how are they going to hide this secret from everyone? What will happen if their feelings are involved?

I liked the characters and clearly the story is going to get more interesting in the next chapters. I will be following the story of Nina and Azur.

I received a copy of this from NetGalley for an honest review.

This is so cute! First, I love the drawing style and already really enjoy Nina and Azure. The plot also seems interesting so far, with so many unanswered questions that make me want to just jump into the next volume!

I will continue this series when I have more time!

Nina the Starry Bride follows the journey of Nina, a young woman with unique eyes, who has been surviving life on the streets disguised as a boy after her parents passed. When the kingdom’s princess dies in a cart accident the handsome second prince stumbles upon Nina, whisking her into the castle to pose as the princess. But adjusting to the life of a royal is not as straight forward as it seems, which the second prince seems to know something about…

I devoured this story and the artwork! The pacing was well planned out and easy to follow, entwining side stories and dropping clues that left me wanting to read more in the next volumes. The manga follows well worn storyline’s, so doesn’t feel that original, but drip feeds the details in a way that keeps you guessing whether you’ve got the ending right. Plus the artwork and expressions are a joy to look at. Definitely recommend and will be hanging out for volume 2!

Thank you NetGalley and the Publisher for the arc!
