Nona's Nerves is a wonderful children's book, that showcases how children can come together and help each other overcome their nerves. I especially enjoyed the illustrations which portray the group as very diverse. (This reminds of the classes at my kids school)

The Hip Hop Littles are putting on a talent show. Nona is the last performer and she starts to get performer's anxiety. When Nona explains how she is feeling the others they are gather around her to encourage her and also talk about their own experiences.

Reading how these kids come together to help each other is very inspiring. My son enjoyed reading it along with me.

This book was well written and with beautiful imagery! This is a great way to help children be able to overcome their fear in regular everyday situations. If you have any young people in your life, this would be a great addition to their library! Lovely book with cute illustrations, interesting narration, perfect pace, and an important theme. Both children and adult would enjoy reading this book.

I think this was noticeable more for the effort than the actual achievement of it, but it was not at all terrible. The cultural crew at school have taken the talent show world by storm, with ballet, graffiti, DJ mixing and photo displays, but when Nona is waiting in the wings to go out and sing, the butterflies get to her. Cue all the other kids talking of what made and makes them worry, until she realises they all have her back and her doubts about her success are unfounded. All this (well, after a first page that seems from a different book entirely) is in reasonably strong rhyme, so the narrative flows quite well – and almost allows you to forget there are probably too many kids, and too much text here for what is actually quite a simple lesson to come across as well as it should.

Visually we're on weaker soil, with the text in large bubbles that portion it off and stop the lines reaching the length they'd naturally be to reinforce the rhyming, and with such a broad and cartoonish style to the kids that it really doesn't look classy at all. I think some of the faces on the final page are supposed to be ecstatic joy – they look in a rictus of fear (perhaps at seeing what's happened to Lola's arms...). All told then, nothing is horrid here, but this doesn't cover much that's new or done in a particularly successful way. Solidly average, then.

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and all opinions expressed are entirely my own.

This is a children's book that follows Nona who is looking forward to the Littlewood Talent Show . But when her turn comes she is nervous and fails to sing. Little Nona has the old case of nerves and I loved that representation. It's a book that teaches nerves and how it affects us all. The illustrations were well executed and the lesson from the book pivotal.

Thank you so much to BookBaby and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.

Nona is nervous she has to perform on a stage in front of people and suddenly she cannot do it at all. Her friends step up and help her, sharing times they’ve been nervous too.

This was sweet, little Nona who had been nothing but excited suddenly didn’t understand why she was so nervous to go on, but she wasn’t alone, which I adored. I liked that her friends were all there to help support and care for her and that they shared times they felt nervous or scared about doing something and how their examples helped with Nona overcoming hers.

This is a great book to help children learn different ways other can be nervous or fearful of a situation that to others might not even seem like you’d feel that way. It’s done in a fun way with really cute illustrations throughout, with a diverse cast of friends, who each have experienced a scary time and had someone there to make them feel better.

Nona's Nerves is a heartwarming story about Nona, a little girl getting ready for the school talent show. When her friends realize she's nervous, they surround her with love, and explain that they've been anxious and nervous before, too. It's normal, it's okay, and with a little bit of bravery, she can overcome it. She finally sings for the show and everyone loves it!

This is a great story about supporting each other, recognizing our feelings and dealing with them in a healthy way. The illustrations are fun. Great story for classrooms, schools and libraries. Nerves and anxiety are common, and it's important for kids to realize they are not alone!

Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to review this advanced review copy (ARC) in exchange for my honest review on the book!

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC of Nona's Nerves by Modello Brown. This book is filled with catchy rhymes and it tackles the issue of anxiety with compassion. Nona is afraid to perform in the talent show because she thinks that all of her talented friends will outshine her.... until they all share their fears with her and she realizes that she isn't the only one who feels anxious sometimes.

This will be on my classroom shelf as soon as it's released!

I absolutely loved this read. For an adult who suffers from anxiety daily, it's really important to teach kids that these emotions are normal - everyone experiences it at some point & it will come & go. If I had this book & encouragement as an anxious child, I'm sure it would've helped me out a lot. Great little book!

I really liked this book - it seems an excellent way of explaining anxiety to children and presenting them with scenarios that could make them feel that way, then reassuring them that it will be okay. I'll definitely be recommending this book to customers at the library, as school related nerves often come up and there aren't enough books on the subject but this will do very nicely.

The book is really good. It is filled with amazing colourful illustrations and writing which is easy to understand.

It talks about anxiety/ stage fright from the perspective of different kids. I appreciate the diversity in the representation.

I feel the book will be better appreciated if there’s less writing and more to see keeping in mind the age of the audience.

The book is amazing and perfect on its own.

Thank you, BookBaby, for the advance reading copy.

This is a sensitive and intelligent look at how a little girl gets an attack of the nerves when it is time for her to perform on stage.

While Nona does eventually overcome her fears, in the process she is given the opportunity to learn a lot about the kind of anxieties that other people suffer from, and her friends are able to support her through this stressful experience.

The illustrations are cute and this is a good resource to help kids who experience anxiety about major or minor challenges in life. I give it 3.5 stars.
