Shiko Nguru does it again in this sequel, it had everything that I enjoyed from the first book. It had a great concept and flowed well in the universe that was created. I enjoyed what was going on and the magical elements overall. I can’t wait to read more from Shiko Nguru.

This second book in the Intasimi Warriors series lives up to the promise of the first title. This time the focus is on Odwar who is still searching for his Entasim, a powerful heirloom passed down from his warrior ancestor. In some ways, the story is predictable. There is little doubt that Odwar will be able to face down the Shadow Queen, but readers will want to find out how that will happen. While having read the first book in the series does fill in background, Nguru does a good job of telling the story in a way that won't leave a new reader feeling lost. There is so much to like about this series, from its Kenyan setting to the supportive families (even if they don't always appear that way at first.) I was a bit disappointed that the mystery of Mwikali's dad wasn't mentioned in this book. Assuming we will have books from the remaining two warriors, there is still time for many mysteries to be explained. I can't wait.
