Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the chance to read and review this book. I've read the rest of the books in the Michael Bennett series and have enjoyed them all for the most part. This one was good, as were the others, but it was a different type of story than I'm used to with this character. He's basically got a new, rookie partner who was a former sniper in the military that he is working a case with. There's a lot of focus on that and the case itself, although interesting as it appears to be the work of a serial sniper, and Bennett's new partner has some insight into that world, it's a bit slower to build up than usual. Overall it's a solid 3.5, but not my favourite in this series.

Crosshairs by James Patterson and James O. Born was very exciting! Reads like an action movie. Micheal Bennett series is one of my favorite series and I've read each and every book. I enjoyed his family dynamics and their storylines as well.

This is another Michael Bennett story and did not disappoint. James Patterson is a mastermind in these type of books and hit it on the head once again! I would read this book over and over again. It kept me on my toes and wanting to read more.

How can you go wrong with a Patterson book? I really enjoy the Mike Bennett series and this one kept me guessing until the end. It was a great read and had some good twists and turns.

I've always loved a good Patterson novel, and I've always enjoyed the Michael Bennett series. There is something unique about a father of so many children, a widow, his extensive time throughout many of the NYPD offices: it leads to really interesting cases.
This just felt ok to me. Because he had a new partner, I felt like Michael's 'voice' spent a lot of time explaining who his friends were in all the different offices and their accomplishments or character, but without any real 'meat' behind it? Like it just felt SUPER info and friend dumpy. The case of a serial sniper on the loose was interesting but really never felt like it picked up a ton of steam. I did love the fact that his new, young partner was a potential suspect, and I loved the focus on our military vets and what happens to them when they come back home. A great premise for a story and the typical driving plot Patterson delivers...but something about the narrative tone of this just felt really off.

Another great Michael Bennett story. This one was a page turner, just one more chapter you will keep saying. The Bennett family always makes this series seem realistic. And the new partner, let’s hope he continues to work with Bennett in future stories. Give this a read even if you haven’t read any of the others in the series, you’ll be hooked.

James Patterson and James O. Born write a great thriller novel, it had a great concept and worked with everything that I wanted from this type of book. The characters were everything that I was hoping for and enjoyed the idea of Michael Bennett and as a thriller novel. It was written well and I'm so glad I was able to read this. This had the psychological feel that I was hoping for and enjoyed the journey. I hope they do more books in the Michael Bennett series.

I jumped on the Michael Bennett crime series a little late considering this is the 16th book in the series. Admittedly, it is a DNF for me. Clearly, crime must not my genre. The strong reviews from others are a testament to the great following both Patterson and crime genre have. If you are in for a mind bender, I’m sure this story will keep you guessing. No star rating on Goodreads from me since I didn’t finish. I find I really need to empathize and relate to a character to keep me interested and I found Michael to be quite dry. Not sure what that says about me since I’ve related quickly with some pretty psychotic characters before. 🤣 Overall, the story was told from a far narrative distance and I would have liked to be more in the character’s heads.

This book is #16 in my most favorite Bennett series.
Most of the first half has Michael and Rob investigating the murders and victims, including the new ones that are in addition to the previous three murders. It’s into the second half that his concerns about Rob become more serious. Michael struggles about what to do with his concerns because he doesn’t want to ruin Rob’s life and/or career if his suspicions are wrong, but his dedication to his job rules out. The ending was an intense and scary scene and while it wrapped up some storylines, it left one hanging. It will be interesting to see where James O’Born goes with this storyline in the next installment.

With his sniper expertise, Trilling proves essential as they tackle a case involving a sniper terrorizing New York City, already claiming three lives. Yet, Michael grows increasingly suspicious of Rob, especially with his unexpected ties to Michael's daughter, Juliana, and his dubious behavior. Concurrently, ongoing subplots like Mary Catherine's fertility treatments add depth to the story.
The narrative unfolds as Michael and Rob investigate the murders, but Michael's doubts about his partner intensify in the latter part. Struggling with conflicting emotions about confronting Rob, Michael grapples with protecting him versus fulfilling his detective duties. The tense climax resolves some plot threads while leaving others dangling, paving the way for future developments.

Crosshairs is the 16th book in the Michael Bennett series by James Patterson and James O. Born. A sniper is taking out targets in New York City. Supposedly, the "Long Shot Killer" is the most terrifying killer that Detective Michael Bennett has ever faced. He partners with Officer Rob Trilling, a former Army Ranger and sniper expert with the NYPD. But Bennett is a little more than suspicious of the new guy.

I am being generous rating Crosshairs 3 out of 5. First of all, this title is better suited for the Alex Cross series by same author. Secondly, I believe the author let the co-author take the steering wheel majority of this road trip because the writing seemed off. Or perhaps their collaboration just didn't mesh well with the plot. To be the 16th installment of this series, it read like a standalone that anyone could jump into. In conclusion, Crosshairs fell flat as a thriller.

I enjoyed Crosshairs and thought it was one of the better Michael Bennett book in the series.

This was a great book. I loved every paragraph, every sentence and every word of this masterpiece! I read it in 12 hours, which is a lot for me to do! It had everything and more laid out in the novel! I sure hope There is more to come from this author! I am totally hooked!

The Long Shot Killer is taking care of business in NYC but Michael Bennett is fast on his heels. The killer is a sniper and is somewhat of a vigilante. This installment of the series is whip smart, and classic Patterson. Thankful to NetGalley for the read.

Another good installment in the Michael Bennett series. I liked the mystery, with Bennett searching for a sniper who is seemingly picking his targets at random. A new partner was introduced, adding to the insane amount of characters in this series.

What I like about this series is that it is a police procedural and you follow along with Bennett and his partner as they follow leads and talk to witnesses/families of the victims. The story is believable, in terms of the motive of the killer, and their feelings towards their victims. I also liked how the PTSD/effects of war and deployment storyline was handled, with it showing how each affects discharged service members differently.

What I didn't like was how easy it was for Bennett to suspect his partner of being the bad guy and not being able to relate or talk to him. Sometimes I feel like Bennett's lone wolf demeanor is too much, to the detriment of his character development and relationships to his fellow detectives.

This was a great addition to this series! An intricate storyline with a new partner for Michael Bennett made for a freshness that kept the pages turning. And of course their family dynamic always adds a richness to each story. Many thanks to the publisher and netgalley for this copy for review

Crosshairs by James Patterson and James O. Born is 16th book in the Mike Bennett series. NYPD Detective Mike Bennett is paired with a young sniper named Rob Trilling to assist him in hunting down the latest serial killer "The Longshot Killer." Officer Trilling is quiet and keeps to himself more than what Mike is used to and he struggles to get to know Officer Rob. But as Officer Trilling is being uncommunicative and has had multiple scheduling conflicts that have him missing out at work. Mike doesn't know what to expect from his newest partner and isn't sure if he needs to investigate him as well. Crosshairs kept me jumping throughout trying to figure out who was the shooter and what was really going on.

Always enjoy the Patterson books. I’m a newbie to this series. I liked Rob Trilling and I assume I’ll be reading more books with him. I am so happy to have a new series to plug into. I brought this with me on vacation and it enhanced my trip!
