Inheritance is an exciting haunted read, perfect for October or whenever you get into a spooky mood!
Following Sonya, this book includes mystery, found family, and just a few (many) ghosts. Taking her future into her own hands, Sonya decides to leave what she thought was her dream job after relationship and workplace drama. While starting the freelance lifestyle, she discovers a family secret from her father's birth family that is news to everyone in her life.
Deciding to take a leap of faith, Sonya decides to visit the estate left to her only to find it is severely haunted. Throughout this book, Sonya works to learn more about her family and the people who still live in the town she is now calling home, this includes an extremely attractive and caring bachelor who may have mutual feelings...
I loved this story, from the main character to the attention to detail when describing the mansion and its ghost residences. Every character seems to serve a purpose both within the story and in their lives. Every detail just felt really purposeful.
When this book ended, I gasped in horror because I didn't want it to end (not even to mention the cliffhanger). I will for sure be visiting lost bride manor again asap!

I absolutely loved Inheritance. The story was interesting, exciting and mysterious. The characters are charming, funny, compassionate and loyal. I think this may be my new favorite book. My only negative is that I have to wait for the next one in the series. I hope Nora, writes fast!!

A great read. Gave me all of the fall vibes
with the mystery surrounding the main characters and the ghost of the past. Who were victims of a curse, placed on this old Victorian Mansion. This is Nora, so you know she’s going to give you excellent detail on the history of the characters as they were figure out who was doing what and what happened to them. I hope it doesn’t take her a long time for the next book in the series. Because it ended on a huge cliff hanger and I can’t wait to read the next book!

This was my first Nora Roberts book, and I had a great time reading it. It's definitely a great introduction to Roberts, but I think that her large number of fans will also have a great time reading it. Roberts really does write beautifully, and her characters are well-rounded. This is also the perfect read for the fall season, with just the right amount of a spooky-vibe to be perfect for those dark, chilly autumn nights. I think that I will continue the series, and I will definitely recommend it to patrons looking for a bit of a gothic romance.
As far the narration goes, I did generally enjoy it, but I had a hard time with her narration of Cleo. I don't know whether it was the Louisiana accent, or just that I didn't enjoy Cleo as a character, but it was a little hard to listen to. Thankfully there isn't too much Cleo.
Thank you to Nora Roberts, NetGalley, and MacMillan Audio for the ALC in exchange for an honest review.

This is a classic contemporary love story mixed in with... ghosts. Both the lovely and the revengeful kinds. There's a whole cast of them and I especially loved the one who communicated through playing songs on a tablet 😄 but is it weird that my favorite character was the manor itself? It's more than a setting, it's a DREAM!
Absolutely recommended, but beware the cliffhanger!

I received the audio and e-book. I provided feedback on the ebook version. Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

OMG!!!! I have some many thoughts and emotions running through me after reading this book. First let me say, Nora does it again! I fell in love with this book, the cast of characters (people, dogs, ghosts, and house) from the start and feel incredibly thankful for this audio ARC.
However, I am also incredibly frustrated by the heart pounding cliffhanger the book ended on and how LONG I have to wait for the next book to come out. If you love Nora Roberts and how she can weave a mystical suspense story, while giving you very likable characters and an awesome romance, you will LOVE this book.
Thank you Netgalley, Nora Roberts, and the publishers for this audio ARC. #Netgalley #NoraRoberts #Inheritance

I was so excited to have the opportunity to listen to this advanced audio copy of Inheritance by Nora Roberts, narrated by Brittany Pressley (with a special intro from Nora, herself), and it did not disappoint! It was actually spectacular. The mysterious history, the drama, the romance, the supernatural elements and magical realism. This kept my interest throughout the whole story and I genuinely cared about the characters. Sonya is easygoing, I don’t think anyone else would be so at ease with living in a haunted house. 😅 And Pressley did an amazing job with the narration. Thankfully, this is going to be a trilogy so the cliffhanger of an ending at least gives us something to look forward to. I didn’t realize it was a trilogy at first and felt worried when I was almost finished and things still weren’t wrapped up.

I really enjoyed this audiobook. The narrator was easy to listen to.
The story was intriguing and kept my attention from beginning to end. I’m looking forward to reading this in print form as well.
Perfect mix of drama, ghost story and romance.

This was a fun read, primarily due to the atmosphere. It's the detail Roberts positively nails--gothic mansion by the sea against a long stretch of road with a nearby, friendly and tight-knit local town with all the bells and whistles? I was constantly gravitating toward the fact of wishing I could be there, have that luck of the draw, be in that same physical space. It was a tangible longing for me.
The romance was sweet, one of those ideals, fun and easy enough to root for--and also one that, if it changes, feels like it won't be left with hard feelings. Purity of heart in these main characters. It feel good to root for them, feels nice that they've had the luck they had, that they're conquering what they're conquering.
It's an easy read, fairly light-hearted, and very feel-good, even despite some of the repetitiveness. Ultimately a fun book--perhaps the atmosphere will stick with me.

This was my first Nora Roberts’ book and I am hooked. The narrator for the audiobook did a fantastic job in bringing the characters to life... or un-life! I love a twisty plot and this story added in creatively written characters, magic, and a haunted manor to create a page-turning introduction to Roberts’ new series, The Lost Bride Trilogy. I will be recommending this book to both library patrons and staff alike.

Thank you so much to Net Galley, Macmillan Audio, Nora Roberts, and Brittany Pressley for providing this wonderful audiobook. This is such a beautiful and mysteriously romantic suspense novel that reminds me so much of some of Nora Roberts earlier books and their writing styles. I loved it so so so much!!!! And, the narrator, Brittany Pressley, did a fantastic job narrating this book and all of the different characters personalities. I can’t wait for the second book in this new trilogy. This book ends on such a big cliffhanger and I can’t wait to find out what happens next! I highly recommend this book to everyone who loves romance, suspense, mystery, family drama, small town stories, and haunted houses. It’s not scary, but it is so perfectly entertaining and full of atmosphere. It kept me wanting to listen to the entire book in one sitting. I just couldn’t stop listening! Thank you again for providing this amazing audiobook for my review. I greatly appreciate it.

Like other Nora Roberts books I've listened to over the years, this one kept me engaged in the lives of the characters. The narration was very good for the work. The house sounds fantastic, so wish fulfillment is there for readers.
The idea of living amicably with ghosts in the house gives the book a fun tone; at the same time, the spooky, evil presence of a malevolent spirit also sends chills down the spine. Characters from several generations expand the interest level for potential readers. For those that have watched the TV show Ghosts (US or British version), I definitely felt that same vibe with the "friendly" ghosts. I loved Clover's choices of music (yes, there's a Clover) from the 1960s/70s!
My only real disappoint came with the ending of the book. It too obviously made the "trilogy" into one very long book that readers must wait to finish. There wasn't enough of an ending to THIS volume. I'm not sure why this bothered me so much (I've read many continuing tales over the years, e.g. The Lord of the Rings), but I just felt somewhat cheated. Will I continue the series? Most likely, because I DO want to see the story play out.

Silly me! I’ve been a Nora Roberts and a J.D. Robb fan for years, but I’ve never been a huge devotee of her Irish magic imbued-stories, and I’ve somehow or other never read any of the other extended family sagas. So I went into Inheritance not thinking about the possibility that it might end on a cliff hanger. Spoiler alert: it does! Aside from that wee irritant, I loved it. As in her recent stand-alones, (Identity, Nightwork, Legacy, Hideaway, etc.), the main characters in Inheritance are strong, contemporary figures trying to pursue their dreams with a determined, Nora Roberts-like work-ethic. Sonya inherits a beautiful old mansion in Maine from an uncle (her brother’s twin) she never knew existed. The house has a great number of plusses—not least of which is providing ample space for her to rebuild her professional life after an ugly breakup with her cheating ex. There’s even room for her bestie, Cleo, who’s also able to relocate and work remotely. The landscape is beautiful, the furnishings exquisite, and the family who knew her uncle and ensured Sonya received her unexpected bequest is welcoming and caring. Added bonus: Sonya and Trey, son of said family, hit it off immediately. All is perfect, save for the slight issue of the mansion’s inhabitants. For the past two hundred years, brides marrying into the family have all died, and their ghosts, among others, have failed to move on, perhaps because their killer also remains bound to the house.
Inheritance is a delightful mixture of prosaic and profound, with Sonya equally preoccupied with mastering a pot roast as she is with avoiding the ghost on the third floor out to terrorize her. The plot naturally includes a clever dog, and he both receives training from a young boy who died decades earlier and growls menacingly at the bad ghosts who torment his mistress. I loved Inheritance and look forward eagerly to the next volume, expected in the fall of 2024.

What a cliff-hanger! This book is the first in a series and therefore the author can't wrap up the whole story within this one book - but it really does leave you wanting more! I have always loved books by Nora Roberts - especially for easy summer reads or vacation books. This one is no different. Very easy to understand because there are not a lot of complicated characters. There is also a forward from the author herself in the audio version - great to hear her discuss her own story in her own voice. The narrator was really great and spoke clearly.
I love the plot - a woman who has been poorly treated by her fiancé goes off on her own as an independent entrepreneur - living in a haunted mansion. I normally do not like scary stories or spooky things but this book is not terrifying and I really enjoyed it. It moved at a good pace and certain spots you couldn't put it down.
I would recommend this for any summer reading, traveling book, or for anyone looking to listen to a good story. It was an easy listen and overall a great book. I do really wish that I had read this later when the other stories were out or about to be released.

Inheritance was a charming book! It was one of my favorite book tropes, a family member you didn't know existed leaves you an amazing home and all their possessions in their will. Sonya MacTavish finds herself the new owner of a very old and very haunted mansion. This book had ghosts but not of them were scary. At its core the book was a romance in a small town. I'm looking forward to the sequels as Nora Roberts said this will be a trilogy. This was really fun and whimsical!
Thanks to NetGalley and Macmillan audio for a sneak peak at this title!

My Thoughts- If the summary doesn’t reel you in from the very beginning, then the fact that Nora Roberts is the author should do the trick. This book had me from the very beginning. The author even does an intro, explaining that she grew up in a haunted home, and strange things would happen, setting the tone for the spooky factor in this book.
Sonya was a delightful main character. Her rocky relationship at the beginning of the book only got worse when you find out that her fiance is cheating on her (with her cousin), leading to so much drama at their workplace. When she finds out she inherited a house from an unknown uncle, I feel like this was her chance to start over.
Arriving at the house, she would learn of a curse that had affected women in her family, so she started reading the history of the house. That's when things start to get interesting. I would crack up at her rationalizing when things would be “misplaced” inside her home, and how each ghost had a different quirk. Then you meet the evil ghost, and she makes for some intense moments in the book. For example, a bed would be made, things would be organized, and blankets would be folded. I mean, can I please have a ghost who cleans my house? That's when Sonya decides she wants to try to figure out how to break the curse. I honestly loved every second of this book. But beware, there is a cliffhanger. This is the first book in a series, so I'm excited to read the next one!
Nora Roberts always impresses me with her writing. She creates whole worlds that suck you in from the very beginning. Even stories with ghosts, which I am very skeptical about, she makes you believe they really do exist for a purpose. She is one of my favorite authors, so I hope you give this one a chance.
***I received this as an ARC for an honest review. It releases on November 21, 2023***

Wow! This is my kind of spooky book! Nora Roberts delivers a perfect mix of romance, friendship, mystery, and hauntings.
I don't like overly gory books, so this was just perfect for me!
I'm 100% going to continue this trilogy when book 2 is available!
For those who want a Scooby Doo kind of ride - this book will hit all the points for you!
Thank you, Netgalley, for the advanced copy!

Wow - all I can say is ‘what a cliffhanger!’ I was so engrossed in this audiobook from beginning to end, I can’t wait for the second book in the trilogy! Nora Roberts is an expert with weaving together contemporary characters with the fantastical world, and this one is no exception. Brittany Pressley’s narration is top notch - she gives the characters each their own personality, and her narration brings it up a notch. The characters quickly become familiar, and the supernatural aspects of the story are so intriguing. If you are a fan of Nora Roberts, you are sure to enjoy this one. And if not - if you like contemporary fiction with some drama and a bit of supernatural thrown in, I don’t think you will be disappointed if you give it a try!
I received this audiobook through NetGalley, all opinions are my own.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
What a great listen. The narrator was awesome the book itself was great. I loved the back and forth timelines. Great characters who worked together to figure out the mystery.
The atmosphere of the setting I loved. A big old manor full of secrets!
Great book. Can’t wait for another one in this series!
