Thank you for the advanced reader copy from Netgalley!
This was my first Nora Roberts book and I really am liking this series. I received the first two books as I've answered your copies and I'm liking the romance ghost story. I'm looking forward to the third book and to check out more by her.

Nora Roberts does it again with Inheritance—a captivating, atmospheric start to what promises to be a spellbinding trilogy. From the very first page, I was hooked. The blend of mystery, romance, and a touch of the supernatural is everything I love in a story, and Roberts masterfully brings it all together with her signature warmth and rich character development. The setting is irresistible: an old mansion full of secrets, ghosts with unfinished business, and a protagonist who’s discovering both her past and her own strength. The pacing is perfect, the dialogue crackles, and the relationships—both new and old—feel authentic and compelling. There's an irresistible charm to the way Roberts weaves together history, heartbreak, and hope. I absolutely loved this book and found myself torn between racing through the chapters and wanting to savor every moment. It left me with that rare and wonderful feeling of wanting to be in the world a little longer. I cannot wait to finish the series and see where these characters go next. Whether you’re a longtime Nora Roberts fan or new to her work, Inheritance is a must-read. It’s immersive, eerie, romantic, and utterly satisfying. Highly recommend.

This book was alright. I didn’t love it, nor did I hate it. It starts pretty drama filled so it sucks you in right from the beginning which I appreciate but it just seemed a little too over the top with what the ghosts do for her.
It was so funny when she was worked up about her bed and dishes being made… I WISH I had ghosts making my bed and cleaning up the house. That would be the life.
Even the ghost who’s supposed to be spooky wasn’t very spooky at all. I wish she went a little more with the spookiness with it being a ghost story but the romance part was cute.
I didn’t realize this was published in 2023 when I asked for the book but either way it was a good listen and grateful for the opportunity!
Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own

When Sonya inherits an old manor house, she learns about the curse that comes with the home. Seven brides, all dead, and there seems to be a dark entity living in the home as well.
As she settles in and begins to learn more about the house, and the uncle that left her the home, Sonya finds more than she expected for. After leaving her job, due to a horrid ex-fiance, and begins her own business, she starts to feel like she is where she is meant to be.
But the house has other plans...
I absolutely LOVED this book! I listened to it in one sitting. I could not get enough. I definitely recommend this book!

Nora Roberts has done it again! "Inheritance," the first book in her new "The Lost Bride Trilogy," plunges readers into a captivating blend of historical tragedy, contemporary mystery, and, of course, a touch of Roberts' signature romance. If you're looking for a read that will keep you turning pages well into the night, this is it.
The story opens with a truly chilling scene in 1806, where Astrid Poole's happiness is brutally cut short on her wedding night, leaving behind a promise to her love, Collin, that echoes through the centuries. This tragic beginning immediately sets a deliciously eerie tone for what's to come.
Fast forward to the present day, and we meet Sonya MacTavish, a graphic designer whose life takes an unexpected turn. Learning her late father had a secret twin, Collin Poole, who has now left her his majestic Victorian home on the Maine coast, is enough to hook you. But the catch – she must live there for three years – adds an intriguing layer of commitment to her newfound legacy. As Sonya navigates her broken engagement and searches for answers about her family's hidden past, she's greeted by the charming young lawyer, Trey, who casually confirms what the house hints at: it's haunted, "just a little."
"Just a little" quickly turns into a whole lot of spectral activity! Objects moving, music playing out of nowhere, and the uncanny discovery of her father's painting in her deceased uncle's office, all point to something deeper. The true chill sets in when Sonya sees a portrait of Astrid, the "first lost bride," and realizes she's inherited far more than just bricks and mortar. She's stepped into a centuries-old curse, a chilling puzzle begging to be solved.
Roberts masterfully weaves together the past and present, creating an atmospheric and immersive reading experience. The Maine coast setting sounds absolutely perfect for a story with a haunted house, and the mystery of Astrid's fate, combined with Sonya's own family secrets, promises a compelling journey. Fans of Roberts will find all the elements they love – strong characters, a dash of romance (I'm definitely rooting for Sonya and Trey!), and a compelling plot – infused with a fresh supernatural twist.
"Inheritance" is a fantastic beginning to what promises to be a gripping trilogy. I'm already eager to see how Sonya unravels this intricate puzzle and if she can break the curse that has plagued her family for generations. Highly recommend picking this one up!

What do you get when you mix a crumbling mansion, a charming ghost dog, a legacy with a bite, and a woman discovering not only who she is, but where she belongs? You get Inheritance — Nora Roberts at her moody, magical best.
Sonya MacTavish didn’t expect to inherit a gothic manor in the Maine woods, nor the mysterious family secrets that came with it. She certainly didn’t plan on a paranormal roommate — or two. But the house has been waiting. The past has been whispering. And Sonya? She’s about to write her own chapter.
Roberts blends her trademark warmth and slow-burn romance with spectral echoes and creaking floors. It’s a cozy ghost story in the very best way — a little spooky, a little swoony, and utterly satisfying. The themes of found family, healing, and courage ring louder than the bumps in the night.
If you're craving a heroine who finds her strength while surrounded by secrets and spirits (and a love interest with just enough gruff charm to make your heart skip), Inheritance delivers. With style, suspense, and that signature Nora magic, it reminds us: sometimes, the home you inherit is the one your heart has been searching for all along.

Somehow, I’ve managed to never read Nora Roberts before now. I know she’s been a staple in the book world for my entire life, but I wasn’t sure if she was for me. I gave it a chance with this book, and I’m glad I did. Inheritance is the first book in The Lost Bride trilogy. It sets up for an intriguing series. At first, I thought the premise sounded like something I’ve heard before, but it was well written and intriguing. The characters had a good amount of depth, and the dialogue was realistic. I was lucky enough to be able to listen and read this at the same time, which is my favorite way to consume a book. The audiobook is very well done, and the narrator fits the part perfectly. The story overall was great and I’m looking forward to continuing the trilogy. I highly recommend this book.
Thank you, NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for allowing me to read this book. I am writing this review based on my own opinion.

Inheritance delivers a compelling gothic mystery that hooked me from the start. A family curse targeting brides spanning centuries, centered around a beautifully atmospheric Victorian manor on the Maine coast. Roberts creates a wonderfully spooky yet cozy mystery atmosphere with the haunted house elements, and I loved how the supernatural aspects felt integral to the story rather than just thrown in for effect.
The way Roberts reveals the historical tragedy through Sonya's dreams works really well - it feels more organic than traditional flashback chapters and adds to the eerie, supernatural atmosphere of the house drawing her into its past.
The audio narration is AMAZING! Brittany Pressley was consistent and talented in her voices & transitions.
My main complaint is that there was quite a bit of focus on Sonya's work as a graphic designer and the marketing/business side of things, which felt like it slowed down the pacing when I just wanted to get back to the ghostly mystery and family curse. Those sections didn't add much to the gothic atmosphere I was there for.
Overall, a solid start to what promises to be an intriguing trilogy. The combination of family secrets, supernatural elements, and cozy mystery vibes makes for an engaging read. I feel emotionally invested in all of the characters, and I've already started book two!
Thank you to NetGalley & St. Martin's Press/Macmillan Audio for the ARC!

I absolutely loved this audio book and the reader is amazing. Love all the voices for all the characters and the storyline had me very intrigued wanting to listen to more. As we follow Sonia inherit her unknown uncle's manor which is haunted by the 7 lost bride's cursed to haunt the manor unless Sonia helps them break the curse. We venture through all the back stories of each bride she encounters and makes her connect with a family she never knew existed. Loved loved the book.

I read this book when it came out in 2023. I was excited to get the audiobook as I didn't have the audiobook when it came out. I have read the majority of Nora's books and this one didn't disappoint. I thought this was a good start to the trilogy.
Thank you for allowing me to get a book in a different format to a book I've enjoyed in the past. I'm looking forward to the third book coming out this fall.
I appreciated the narrator and the pacing of the audiobook.

A great combination of gothic ghost story, romance, blood family, and found family. Sonya is a graphic designer struggling with a wedding that isn't what she wants, then her life is turned upside down and then upside down again. Eventually, she ends up in Maine, inheriting a house from an uncle she didn't know existed, twin to her father who was adopted and never knew his brother.
A lot of tragedy in the book, from the murdered brides to Sonya's family, and though we know a horrible witch is to blame, there's no way of knowing how to stop her. There's a lot of spooky moments, funny times, and heartwarming parts too.
Trey is a great book boyfriend! All of the supporting cast is awesome, particularly Cleo and Owen (and all of Trey's family). I enjoyed the parts about graphic design and art and the complicated history of the house. And most of the ghosts are great too.

Thank you to Macmillan Audio for the audiobook of Inheritance in exchange for an honest review in anticipation of Nora Roberts’s third book in The Lost Bride Trilogy.
I have to be transparent in that shockingly, this is my first Nora Roberts book I’ve had the pleasure of reading. I had no idea what The Lost Bride Trilogy would bring but I’m officially hooked and I cannot wait to finish the series.
In summation, Inheritance follows the story of Sonya, a near miss bride who catches her fiancé cheating on her just weeks before their wedding. Shortly after, Sonya encounters an attorney at her door who was visiting on behalf of a deceased uncle she did not know she had. St this visit, Sonya learns she has inherited a mansion passed down through her deceased father’s side of the family. This historic mansion off the coast of Maine comes with one huge caveat, it just so happens to be haunted with the brides of history’s past. Sonya learns she is entitled to quite a large inheritance if she’s willing to live in the manor for 3 years. In striking a deal with the attorney, Sonya agrees to a three month trial period to experience all that the manor has to offer.
Sonya packs up her things and moves to Maine. Eventually, her best friend follows and moves into the manor as well. It’s immediately apparent that the manor not only houses humans, but a plethora of ghosts that seem to spice things up. Sonya quickly forms a relationship with the son of the attorney who visited her that evolves into more than she could have ever asked for. Sonya realizes that she has some unknown connection with the victims that remain in the house. At night, Sonya experiences dreams that thrust her through a mirror into a first person perspective of how each bride was killed. Add in a wicked witch and you’ve got yourself a serious haunting!
The books ends on quite a cliffhanger and I expect the second book to pick up right where this one ended. I have a feeling things are about to get really good!

This book pulls you in from the very first page, and the characters quickly feel like friends—ones you'd gladly join to help defeat the evil at hand.

Inheritance tells the story of Sonya, who had just dumped her cheating fiance and called off her wedding when she learned that she inherited a beautiful old mansion overlooking Poole's Bay in Maine from an uncle she did not even know existed. The kicker is that the mansion is haunted by various ghosts - most are friendly/helpful but one is an evil witch and not happy about Sonya living in the home. There is way more paranormal stuff going on in this story but it would be hard to describe without giving away some major plot lines. I was lucky enough to be offered both the audio and ebook copy of this book by NetGalley and enjoyed going back and forth between the audio (in my car) and the ebook at home. The writing is very easy to read and the characters are likeable - my only complaint was that the book ended on a real cliff hanger so now I need to read the next book in the trilogy, The Mirror, to get the answers I need about what really happened at the end of this book. For the audio, the narrator's voice was just perfect. I love the Southern drawl of best friend Cleo's voice! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC and audio of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

I loved it. The Ghost are awesome. The characters are real. While I was listening, I felt like I was really there. I have immediately started part 2. Waiting for the next one is going to be hard. I can't praise it enough!

The Inheritance is the first book in the Lost Bride trilogy. Sonya inherits a manor from an uncle she never knew existed. But the house isn’t just an ordinary fresh start for Sonya.
I was really entertained by this book. It had me asking questions and listening longer (one more chapter!) just so I could get more of the story. Sonya’s best friend moved in, and the story just got better. I know people want constant action in books like these, but I liked seeing Sonya grow and get to know the unseen inhabitants of the house.
I received this ARC from NetGalley for my honest review.

It's been a hot minute since I've read a book from author, Nora Roberts. So, when Netgalley had this as a "listen now" - I thought I'd see what it was all about. I did like the narrator so that made for easy listening.
Inheritance is about Sonya MacTavish, a graphic designer who recently broke off an engagement. She learns that her dad had a twin brother and that upon his passing, he wanted to give her his estate, which includes a very large victorian home. She needs to live there for 3 years and oh yeah... it's haunted. Sonya willingly moves in and ends up trying to figure out the curse of these ghosts, and maybe hooking up with the lawyer that is helping her with the estate...
For me, two-thirds of the book felt like "where is this going?" - and then the very end of the book - you're like wait ... #cliffhanger ... so now I will move on to the second book in the series, which I hope will have a bit more flow/director with the plot.
3.25 ⭐

This was my first introduction into a Nora Roberts book, and I honestly didn’t expect to get pulled in so fast—but here I am, fully hooked. Inheritance mixes eerie haunted house vibes with secrets, a budding romance, and just enough mystery to keep you on the edge of your seat.
Sonya is a great protagonist—smart, skeptical, and just trying to keep it together after her life gets upended by a surprise inheritance. The old manor is a character of its own, and the ghosts? Yep, they’re real and they’ve got stories to tell. Add in some slow-burn romance and a lovable cast of side characters, and you’ve got something that feels both comforting and chilling.
And that cliffhanger? Honestly, kind of rude. Now I have to read the next one because I need answers, and I need them now.
The audiobook performance was excellent, engaging, easy to follow, and really brought the characters to life. If you’re new to Nora Roberts like I was, this is a great place to start.
Big thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the copy! It was such a fun introduction to Nora Roberts’ writing, and I’m definitely continuing the series.

I liked this book. It was a little formulaic, but I enjoy Nora Robert's romance trilogy format. Inheritance is the first book in the trilogy, so I expected a bit of time spent on world building. The setting of an historic mansion in New England is a great background scene for the story. I enjoyed that there was a supernatural mystery to solve along the way as well. My favorite "character" is a ghost who is somehow able to communicate quite well by playing appropriate songs on a computer tablet that perfectly express their thoughts or mood. This was a fun read.

I have adored Nora Roberts my entire reading life, probably from before I should have been allowed to read her. books! I love how she imbues her trilogies with magical elements, and somehow she keeps coming up with original concepts! This one is a little less fantasy-oriented than some of her older trilogies, more in the historical fiction realm, but there's so much magic in it. And Sonya's inheritance is a total dream! A gorgeous house in Maine with views for days and the most epic personal library space ever is my kind of heaven. I'll take the ghosts, even the evil ones.
The community and characters are lovely, of course - Nora always creates such amazing settings with her words, and I basically always want to go live wherever they are. Surprised me how much I liked the ghost characters! Especially the musical one :) And I liked that there was a little more jumping back to various points in history as we learn more about each of the brides. The audio is well done, I appreciate that she also has such consistent narrators as they too become like old friends after awhile. Looking forward to the next!
