WAR AND MONEY: BOOK ONE
by Sophia Diana Gabel
Dax Orwan is like many other undesirables of the worldwide Global Command in the year 2187. She's just turned 15, but what is so undesirable about her? She is a single, an only child, and Commander Viteri hates her for this thing she has no control over. He doesn't want to punish her parents, he wants to punish Dax.
She is assigned as a lowly Status 2, in the AFGF, Anti-foe Ground Forces, "Bottom of the barrel. The loser squadron." But, Dax does what any young person would do, she rebels, asserts herself in her AFGF Squad, and tries to make each team member's life a little better, to give them a life worth fighting for.
Global Command needs warm bodies to use as cannon fodder, the AFGF has zero possibility of surviving their first battle with aliens.
Dax figures out that the battles going on are all about "War and Money," and the commanders have every intention of coming out on top, if there is a war.
Highly recommend. #YoungAdult #ScienceFiction
I was pleased with this complimentary copy of #WarAndMoney from the author and #SDBooks I was under no obligation to post a review.

Review: This was not that good. Little waif plucked from her opressed famwy (sniff), slapped around and beaten (OH THE HUMANITY!) while retaining a stiff backbone and a calm adult outlook. Riiiiiight. Wow she's so smart she can fly a fighter through space while uncovering a conspiracy!. Meanwhile, all her cohorts continually smirk, sneer and deride her in smugly fashion. While being constantly laughed at (for no reason) she rises to circumvent galactic disaster.
Never fear, she will be back in a boring sequel.
