I'm not really interested in gambling, so this wasn't the best of the series for me to start. The action takes place in Vegas, and it's fun to read the descriptions of the city and feel the energy.
This story has all the best things you can find in a mystery: long-buried secrets, revenge, and people who want to know the truth. The action starts early, and I was surprised at the twists.
Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this

I am so thankful to have received and ARC of this book! Thank you, Net galley!

The story itself was fast paced with a fantastic plot. Great characters who were relatable and engaging.

Finishing this book has left me hungry for more books with PI’s vs Mob themes and plots.

In this third novel in the trilogy, gambling-addict-turned-PI Eddie O’Connell returns. This time, Eddie teams up with Uncle Mike, a retired Chicago police detective, to help solve a cold case for Arlene Adams, the wealthy widow of a hitman. Arlene realizes she’s not going to live forever, and she wants answers. Their investigation leads them to Vegas, and to the hitman’s old partner, the Deacon. Eddie has his own reasons for wanting to meet with the mysterious Deacon, a mob legend. But the case quickly turns deadly. Eddie and Mike go undercover amid competing businesses—and the mob. If you’re interested in sports gambling and the myriad players that go with it—legal and not-so-legal—you will enjoy this complex mystery.
