This YA romance debut is full of potential, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to it. There's so many elements to this story that could have been amazing, but instead, the story felt repetitive and lacked the charm I hoped it would have. I felt like not a lot happened at all and we were going in circles for most of the book, where the characters would keep having the same or similar thoughts over and over again. I wish the letter writing element had gotten a little more attention instead.

This was a fun idea! It was super Taylor swift coded which I LOVED! I really struggled with the miscommunication trope though. It was heavy on it throughout the whole story!

I re-read this recently, and it's still as great as the first time. I really loved the structure of this book--it almost made me want to write out the chronology of the book on paper to visualize it. I loved the friendships and the yearning. Just so much tension and passion, and you know, the classic miscommunication. Absolutely loved it. As expected from a title that's reminiscent of my favorite Taylor Swift song.

This was a sweet coming of age story that shows how important communication is and how easily things can be misunderstood. When you consider how hard it is to be a teenager and the insecurities that are already naturally at play, it's not hard to believe that they can easily jump to the belief that people don't like them or are judging them lacking.
In this book, Natalia is struggling to reconnect with her best friend, Ethan. They've been awkward since an almost kiss several months before and now she's not sure how to move past it. Her uncertainty is making him doubt her feelings for him and thus makes him treat her differently which creates a negative circle between them. Throughout the story, different things happen and you see the kids all grow through the experiences. It's a sentimental and moving book.
Thank you to NetGalley for this early copy

This reminds me of the One Tree Hill episode when the time capsule video was released. This book certainly has just as much drama with all the characters. Despite all the drama, I was a little bit bored at times. I felt like it had too many other things going on and it lacked a little bit of chemistry in the friends to lovers trope. I do think a teen ages 14-16 would enjoy this the best.

I appreciate the beautiful art, it truly made the reading experience better… BUT Natalia was not able to make me attached to her and that was partly why I couldn’t fall in love with this book. A lot of problems with authors writing teenagers is that they do it completely wrong. It’s very obvious when don’t know how current teenagers act (which is ok) but it’s not desirable, especially to teen readers. How do the kids say it? It was cringe, unfortunately. 2.75/5

This is one of those books where you forget everything you read immediately. In my opinion it wasn’t memorable enough for me to love it.
I didn’t connect with the characters and I think that’s my issue.

This book was cute and i liked the concept of it taking place over one day. There just wasn't anything that pulled me into it. It was a quick read and I will say that if you are not a fan of miscommunication as a trope, this is not the book for you. Its completely based off of miscommunication/lack of communication. Overall i did enjoy it and it is perfect for a quick romance read.

This is how it's supposed to feel. When longing meets knowing.
I Wish You Would Read This Story. It's messy.
Adorable. So vividly written! AND includes one of my favorite tropes: friends to lovers!
I have to admit, I was already in love with this story before I even started reading. I adored the cover, loved the blurb, and then saw raving reviews. So l had to know if my instant crush would survive my reading sittings. And how it did! Mixed (Latina) but white-passing Natalia and 'hating his famous father' Ethan just cemented themselves into my heart.
Two days, this story takes place in less than two days. And pours all the doubt and the hurt, and even the love from before on the pages. It's perfectly paced, and the writing is so vibrant! And it's a debut y'all! A fantastic debut!
I loved to read those letters and guess who those letters were from. Letters about catfishing someone, coming out, doing what you really want to do, and so many other topics.
Thanks so much, Tatiana from Fiercereads, for sending me an invite to the ARC of this book!
Actual rating 4.5 stars.

This story was an interesting story from an author I don’t know or haven’t read before! Will look at finding other things by this author. I am grateful for the early access, thank you to those that allowed it!

This book was a cute and quick read. I liked the characters but I didn't care for the book taking place in one day in the same setting. I was glad to have a copy of this to read in the Summer.

Soft-hearted and balanced by plenty of shenanigans and sass, this debut is one to remember! With one book, Eva’s reminded me why friends-to-lovers is a trope to look out for.

High school changes everyone over time. Friends you thought you really knew, that you would always be friends, and sometimes you just grow apart. Natalia and Ethan. Junior Prom changed everything for them and they have no idea what do to. I Wish You Would is a sweet YA that tackles being a teenager on the verge of growing up and learning that not all friends survive and not all relationships are a good idea. The plot is wonderfully paced in a way that neither Natalia or Ethan are anything more than just confused teens, the plot moves slow enough to see them but fast enough that they don’t devolve into either a telenovela or whiny, annoying children. They’re not perfect characters but they’re very much real.

Thank you Netgalley and publisher for this early ARC, in exchange for an honest review.
This YA Contemporary romance takes place during Natalia and Ethans senior year of high school.
A senior year tradition is to write private letters to themselves that exxplain what they would do if they were braver. So obv they're SUPER honest ini these, a little too honest, but Natalia's letters get swept down the beach. So she panics, obv, like anyone would. This book reminded me how high emotions run when you're younger. It really brought me back to what it was like to have your first love at a young age and the absolute life or death feeling you have about your feelings being known.
I can forgive the miscommunication because of their age, but omg it was so frustrating.

Thank you, NetGalley, for the ARC!
WOW! I was genuinely blown away by this book. I picked it up on a whim because I was craving YA romance and this one did not disappoint. The dual POV kept me entertained, engaged, and frustrated at all the right times! I'm such a sucker for a BFF-to-lovers story and this was done SO well. I also love that it took place over one day and I found the setting (the beach) to be so much fun. Really loved this one. Let's hope she releases another book soon!!! :)

Miscommunication trope- if you are not a fan this book is probably going to frustrate you (it frustrated me for this reason, I am not a fan of this trope), however it does make sense in context considering the main characters are teenagers. Teenagers suck at communicating lol. I did like the characters and the overall story. 3 stars.

I really enjoyed how adorable this novel was. I loved the story behind Natalia and Ethan. The plot was okay and the romance was a little messy, but that is very normal for teenagers. Very cute read

Any book that shares the title with a Taylor Swift song is just bound to be ethereal! This YA romance did not disappoint! It was a lot more emotional than I expected! It captures the struggles of growing up and leaving past memories behind so effectively! The title is perfect because the way these characters yearned was so vivid throughout!

I don't think I'm the right demographic for this book. Certain aspects of the story felt way too dramatized and a lot like High School Musical, but it was still a cute story. I think younger teens would enjoy this book and relate to a lot of the characters. Overall, I gave it a 3.25/5⭐.

I started and finished this in one sitting. Let’s just say high school me would not only have loved it, but needed to hear it. I Wish You Would is a whirlwind trip that has all the angst, fears/anxieties, and feels of high school when you feel everything changing and aren't quite sure what to do. This is for the overachievers, the overthinkers, to the one's with a 4-year and 8-year plan, the in-betweeners, who are afraid to be honest for where it might be...the good and the bad. Eva wrote a love note to us all.
