Unfortunately, I did not love this one. I had high expectations based on the synopsis, but it sadly fell flat for me. The story was very slow moving and I did not feel connected to the characters. I did enjoy the small town vibes but not as much as other small town stories I’ve read. I liked the writing style and I would be interested in reading more from this author, but this one was not for me and I had to DNF at 36%

Savour It by Tarah DeWitt completely stole my heart. From the first page, I was hooked by the warmth and wit of her writing, and I felt an instant connection to the characters. Their banter had me laughing out loud, and the slow-burn chemistry kept me turning the pages late into the night. I especially loved how the story celebrated not just romance but the joy of food, friendship, and personal growth. It felt like a reminder to savor all the little moments in life, and by the end, I was smiling and feeling so uplifted. This book was exactly what I needed, and I know I’ll be recommending it to everyone.

Oh I absolutely LOVED this one!! Hands down my favorite book by Tarah DeWitt! This book had me wanting to pack up my life and go buy a hobby farm in Oregon. I want Sage's life, I loved her so much.

I thought this book was actually very realistic, the relationship felt like a real relationship and I really enjoyed how they actually communicated like adults, it was a refreshing breath of fresh air.

I wish I could read this for the first time again, I loved it that much!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I have loved everything I’ve read by Tarah Dewitt but this book I really struggled to get into. I picked it up multiple times and never could get past about 30%. I really liked them as a couple but the training plot bored me.

Thank you Macmillan audio and SMP for the gifted audio copy and eARC!

What a sweet small town romance. I loved the characters as individuals - they were rich, emotional and deep characters. I felt that the relationship between them took awhile to “get there” while I felt the characters and story was well-developed, it at times felt like it hadn’t quite taken off and I wanted more from them as a couple. The ending was fantastic though and brought it all together for me. I’ll definitely read more from Tarah DeWitt in the future! The town of Spunes was lively and fun and I hope we haven’t seen the last of it.

Savor It is like your favorite feel good sitcom with a dash of spice. It's my first book by Tarah Dewitt, but I will definitely be reading more from her. I love the small town setting and the cast of characters. I was all in my feels and wanting to move to Spunes, Oregon myself so I can be friends with them all. Fisher and Sage have such a wholesome relationship, it's impossible not to root for them. I truly hope we see them again in a book about some of the other characters!

Savor It had its moments, but it didn’t fully click for me. Tarah DeWitt's writing style is engaging, and the small-town setting was charming, offering a cozy backdrop to the story. The premise had so much potential, and there were scenes that really stood out as heartfelt and memorable.

That said, the pacing felt uneven at times, and I struggled to fully connect with the characters. While their chemistry was there, some of their interactions felt a bit forced, and certain plot points seemed to lack the depth I was hoping for.

It’s still a decent read, and I can see why others might enjoy it more. DeWitt has a knack for capturing emotional nuances, so I’m definitely open to reading more of her work in the future. This one just didn’t quite hit the mark for me.

Savor it by Tarah DeWitt was a great summer romance between a professional chef and small town farmer. When Fischer makes a commotion on his first night calling emergency services for an "intruder" in his summer rental, Sage gets a quick introduction to her new and mysterious neighbor.
This book deals with moments of grief, dealing with the complex emotions that follow it, and its lingering affects. What started as purly a relationship out of convenience to encourage the small town of Spoons to accept Fischer and his new restaraunt, while Sage was feeling cornered upon meeting her ex's new girlfriend turned into a super sweet and spicy summer that for sure wasn't going to become more.
With the added complexity of Fisher navigating how to build a relationship with his niece after his sister died, this story is the perfect amount of sweet, spicy, and emotional.

Unfortunately, this book was not for me. The pacing was slow and I wasn't rooting for them. I wanted more of the spunk and heart of other Tarah books and this one fell flat for me. I don't think it was a problem with the book, I just wanted something it wasn't.

The small town romance trope with Tarah DeWitt's humor is a perfect combo! Even with MMC's damage, it felt really low stakes, and I can't tell if that's a good or a bad thing... The story was fun, but the characters didn't feel very real to me.

Overall I enjoyed the atmosphere & the characters in the story. The plot had me interested enough to keep reading but I just hoped for a little MORE at times. I would generally recommend this book for those who enjoy romance!

3.5 stars

I have been hearing about Tarah Dewitt's books for awhile now, and after finishing Savor It I wish I had picked them up sooner.

This was a sweet story about finding your place whether you've lived somewhere for your whole life or if you are in an unfamiliar environment. I liked both Sage and Fisher quite a bit. They felt grown up and like they didn't have to play a bunch of games or back and forth as their relationship developed.

The story flowed nicely and I liked Tarah's writing style. I hope we get books for some of the secondary characters introduced as well.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for providing an ARC for an honest review.

Savor It was absolutely my favourite romance of 2024. It is truly a treat to read. It combines small town, grief, burn-out, cooking, animals, and gardening, with punny t-shirts and cow-print robes, tenderness, and spice—all in a little pink paper package that brings me so much joy!

It's a story of perseverance, life not being linear, love in the present, and purpose. It also tells the story of Sage, a ball of sunshine teacher who just has so much love to give, and Fisher, a talented chef with the weight of the world on his shoulder. Their love could conquer any mountain.

Please, read this, you won't regret gracing your life with this masterpiece.

I received an advanced copy of Savor It by Tarah DeWitt from the publisher St. Martin's Press via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

What It’s About: Sage Byrd has lived in the coastal town of Spunes, Oregon her entirely life, where she has establishes a hobby farm with a several misfit animals and friendships with the town’s inhabitants. However, she is dealing with the end of her five year relationship with the town golden-boy Ian, who has just gotten engaged. She needs a win that will convince everyone to stop pitying her, while also potentially putting Ian in his place. The Festival of Spunes, the town’s annual summer competition could be the perfect opportunity, if only she could find a partner. Fisher Lange was a hotshot chef in New York until the loss of his sister left him numb, grieving, and responsible for his teenage niece Indy. With the loss of his Michelin star along with his love of cooking, his boss sends him to Spunes on a sabbatical to consult of a restaurant opening. But the town is not thrilled and when a kiss with his new neighbor Sage catches the town eyes, a strategic alliance might be the best way to turn things around. A deal is struck: Sage will help Fisher’s image and remove roadblocks to their restaurants if Fisher will be Sage’s partner for the competition. But the pact soon moves into steamy rendezvous and emotional wounds begin to heal.

My Thoughts: I honestly don’t remember much from this book. I am writing this review later but I also felt this way at the time. I think this might have been a problem of listening to this book. This book is slow moving and did not immediately capture my attention, which unfortunately made me tune out a bit. I am clearly in the minority but this book was forgettable to me.

Who Should Read It: People who love small town slow burn romances.

Summary: A deal is made between two neighbors and healing begins.

This was felt like a warm hug. The way the story was setup and how Sage and Fisher's relationship developed. Tarah always makes it feel like we have found home along with the characters.

I recommend this if you would like to read a slow building romance that goes from friends to lovers.

I'll admit, what first grabbed me about this book was it being set in a town called Spunes, Oregon (not to be confused with Forks, Washington). I'm a simple woman.

But upon reading it, I thoroughly enjoyed the characters, their banter, the foodie aspect to the novel, and the small town charm with a cast of characters. It is your typical small town romance, friends to lovers, slow burn tropes, so nothing spectacularly new or refreshing, but it was a fun way to pass the time!
