This reminded me so much of This Summer Will Be Different by Carley Fortune but so much more heart wrenching! I enjoyed the dual timelines and it would have been interesting to get Finn’s POV but I loved the fact he was a musician and bonus points for covering Taylor Swift. I figured there was going to be some kind of emotional twist towards the end but I didn’t predict what actually happened at all. Overall an emotional, thought-provoking romance!

Seven Summers and seven whole stars. ✨

The perfect summer read and I devoured it. It will break your heart into pieces, throw it back together, and destroy you once again.

I have not read a single thing by Paige Toon, but she will be on my radar now, and I plan to read her backlist. Her writing was phenomenal. The characters were fantastic. This will remain one of my favorite reads this year, and I hope you all love it, just as much as I did!

Thank you to the publisher for this free review copy. Seven Summers is on sale May 21st!

Well....I think i've come to the conclusion that this author is just not for me and it is entirely a me thing. I don't particularly enjoy books that put me through the emotional ringer. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to be an early reader. All thoughts are my own.

This one had me feeling ALL the feels. It’s an emotional rollercoaster. But so so good. Took me a little to get sucked into but once I was in, I couldn’t stop. Being from the US, all the UK terms were a little hard to understand but I still made it work. Trying to do a spoiler free review is hard but I was rooting for so many things in his one. I loved the representation of Down syndrome in Livs brother. Michael was my favorite character by far. I do feel like the epilogue was a tad rushed but I still thought it was a solid ending. This was my first novel by this author.

Paige Toon gives me Carly Fortune vibes. I like parts of the book but the devastating parts stick with me through the end. This will definitely be a good beach read this summer, but make sure you understand this is no rom-com. It will make you feel all the emotions, sometimes multiple ones on the same page! Loved the early opportunity to read this one.

One of my top books of the year!!! New favorite author
Thank you to netgalley for the early release arc of this book. I have only just discovered Paige Toon, and all I can say is where has she been all my life?! This is the fourth I have read of hers and my favorite: the story spans over seven summers, as the title suggests. It follows Liv and Finn, who meet at the age of 22.
Tragedy and circumstances keep them
Apart; but every summer they find one another again.
The story shifts from past to present and I was unable to put this book down. Their love story is heartbreaking and beautiful: I ate this book up in a day and will be thinking about it for a long time to come. Can't wait for the audio on 5/21!!!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

First off I want to start by saying thank you to @paigetoonauthor, @putnambooks,&@netgalley for my advanced copy this has easily become my FAVORITE of the year so far!
This book is the definition of perfection in a novel. A romance has not made me feel every emotion immensely in so long. It made me laugh, it talked about music, I grew an emotional connection to every character, and I CRIED. A LOT. I haven't stop thinking about it since I finished it.

While this novel does depict the main character's two romantic relationships well, the structure was a challenge for me. For the bulk of the book, we are alternating timelines. Throughout this section, we know that the relationship in the past has come to an end, which kept that storyline from having any tension. The current romantic relationship also lacked tension for me, as they connect very quickly.

In the last portion of the book, we do get tension, as the past love comes back to town, and there is a complication with the current love interest. This was definitely a more interesting part of the novel.

My main issue was the epilogue. This was really the climax and resolution of the story, rather than an extension, or a look in the future, at a story that had already been resolved. As a reader, this did not work for me.

The emotional roller coaster that is Seven Summers is nothing short of perfect. In this story, we meet Liv and Finn. They meet one summer in Cornwall and quickly become enamored… until tragedy strikes. Handling such devastation together has intrinsically bonded the two for life, but Finn’s life is in LA. Instead they agree to spend each summer together in Cornwall if they are single.

This story takes us on a journey between two timelines from current to each past summer. Every summer, I couldn’t help but root for Finn and Liv, but life and their own selves always got in the way.

Enter Tom. Tom is a newcomer in Cornwall who Liv is immediately drawn to. Their quick romance was actually pretty incredible, and I fell for Tom just as quickly as Liv did. And even though Liv and Finn officially ended things the year before, he still returns throwing Liv’s emotions in utter turmoil.

And the ending? Ms. Toon made me fall in love twice, ripped my heart out and really made me think that this was how it was all going to go down, but the healing of my heart at the end of this story was real. Absolutely incredible.

This story heavily focuses on Liv and her healing from grief and really figuring out what she wants in life and love. Her character growth and development was stunning and I can appreciate any author who can give a heroine that kind of strength and relatability.

I was an emotional wreck while reading. The character growth from the MCs was noted and the writing was excellent full of emotion and heartbreak.

"Six Summers" is a heartwarming tale of love, loss, and second chances. Liv and Finn's annual summer reunions have become a bittersweet tradition, but when Liv meets Tom, everything changes. As their romance blossoms amidst the beauty of Cornwall, Liv faces an impossible decision. Full of tender moments and unexpected twists, this novel will tug at your heartstrings and leave you rooting for love to conquer all. This is so freaking cute!

Many thanks to Paige Toon, PENGUIN GROUP Putnam, and NetGalley for providing an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

I feel in love with this book and it broke my heart. Watching Liv and Finn fall in love every summer and have to part was heartbreaking. This slow build of a friendship and love story had me hooked. Told over seven summers this love story has all the elements of what makes for a beautiful journey. Until the very end. Loved this book.

I received a complimentary copy of this book "Seven Summers" and all opinions expressed are my own. I was leaning towards a three star because the beginning of the book was dragging for me. But towards the end I knew I would be raising to four stars. I thought the characters were good and I really loved how the story played out. The story flowed well once I got into it.

4.25/5⭐️

When Liv (a bartender) and Finn (a singer/songwriter) meet in a Cornish coastline bar, there’s instant attraction. Following a tragedy, they are pulled apart by distance (he lives in LA, she won’t leave her special needs brother), but Finn promises to come back each summer (there are 6 of them) if they are each unentangled. As Liv despairs of a full life together, they both reluctantly move forward with other people and are happy. However, the seventh summer changes everything, and they must question again if they’re where they want to be.

I enjoyed this but found it frustrating as well. I felt that if they had a forever kind of love that they would have worked harder to make it work. I will say that I felt the author did a great job of aging them (maturity-wise) from their mid-20s to mid-30s. There are laughs and definitely tears and a wonderful ending on this one.

So overall, the moments of frustration were far outweighed by a great read.

My sincere thanks to the author, NetGalley and Penguin Group/G.P. Putnam’s Sons for providing the free early arc of Seven Summers for review. The opinions are strictly my own.

I devoured this book over a 2-day getaway, and let me tell you, I SOBBED!!! SOBBED! This book left me gutted, and I'm having a hard time rating it. Outside of my personal feelings about how things ended up, the book was so incredibly good. It will very much be a 5-star read for a lot of people. The way the story played out was the complete opposite of what I was hoping for and that's impacting my rating a bit. (TOOOOOOOOM!!!! My sweet, sweet Tom.)

I do feel that the summer fling trope is becoming a bit overdone, and I was nervous about how the trope would play out in this story. While I don't think it was entirely unique, the epilogue really changed the entire vibe for this one. I enjoyed getting a very extended look into how things ended up over the future summers.

Read if you enjoy:
- summer fling
- small town
- found family
- close friend group
- love triangle (kind of)

Thank you to Netgalley and Putnam for a chance to be an early reader!

overall, seven summers, my second title from paige toon, is an engaging read, a woven tale told across time. switching between summers of the past and the present one, liv falls in love twice and has her heart broken more times than that. riding the wave that is life, our lead character experiences it all — joy, grief, comfort, agony — and I was captivated by each moment of the journey.

though I found the conclusion of the story to be rushed, I could appreciate the intention behind how it was structured. because liv did have two great loves. while painful at times, it was also beautiful to see that there truly was space in her heart for both finn and tom. neither was lesser than the other, each providing what she needed during different seasons of life.

all at once, finn was both a constant presence and a question mark for live. despite their undeniable connection, they spent years loving and hurting each other, circling around a decision neither could bring themselves to make. meanwhile, tom was unexpected, dropping into liv's world without notice. while mysterious, he offered the stability she'd been craving for so long.

in that final summer, that seventh summer, liv faced a choice and I do believe she made the correct one. with any book that contains a love triangle of sorts, the author obviously faces the inevitable struggle of having to disappoint the readers who prefer the guy she doesn't end up with. luckily, the manner in which paige navigated that crossroad felt true to the nuanced and complex story she presented to that point. for many reasons, seven summers contains one of the most unique epilogues I have ever encountered.

thanks to g.p. putnam's sons and paige toon for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
