I just couldn’t get into this book to save my life. Reading this book was like pulling teeth honestly. I normally love the fantasy romance genre but this one was just not for me. The weird names were kind of a turn off as well because it was hard to keep them straight.

Thank you Netgalley and publishers for the arc!

Do you like the show ‘90 Day Fiance’? That’s the vibe with an Unleashing Chaos, just think paranormal. It’s spicy, it’s drama, it’s enchanting.

The authors also include mental health issues so please check your triggers before reading!

I enjoyed this book......I thought the main female character was funny and relatable. I enjoyed the different personalities of the love interest and the emotional journey the male experienced in relation to the past traumatic relationships he had. I do wish they would have spent more time in hell and developing the characters of her family.

This book was interesting but not really type. It was a fun concept thought! I liked how she was on her own and had to learn how to exist in the human realm. I enjoyed the world building more than the romance.

Desi is the youngest child and only daughter of Chaos. She is set to take over the realm of Sloth in 90 days but in order to rule she needs an eternal partner. If she cannot find a husband in 90 days then her father will choose one for her. Desi has not found a demon of her liking so decides to search in the mortal realm, where she ends up renting a room from Jace. Jace also rents out another room to Cannon.

Desi is pure chaos, Cannon goes with the flow while Jace is very Type A and needs control. Jace has his own baggage and struggles from panic attacks. (I rather enjoyed this representation and felt it was done well).

I loved watching Desi grow and experience life. Jace😍😍😍

I really enjoyed reading this. I loved that the fmc was curvy, but it wasn't her whole personality. There were some instances where a chunk of time passed from one paragraph to the next which was confusing without a new chapter or subchapter. I know a lot people like the sexy nerd trope, but I could've done without that. The ending felt rushed and I felt like this could've easily turned into a series. Overall- it was an enjoyable read, a good level of spice, and funny in some parts (I loved the gluttony bits)

No. Like 10% in and I couldnt. I did not vibe with the writing style at all. I thought the characters were very one note, I hated the set up. I was instantly turned off by the whole thing. I am a believer that a book has to grab me from the get go. I can be a little more patient if parts of it hook me, but unfortunately there was nothing in this book that did it for me.

I even put it down and tried it again after a couple other books and it was still an immediate no again from me.

I can't really speak to the plot because I didn't even get that far, I just felt like it was to “tell-y”. The characters basically narrated what was happening in the story, but the chemistry was flat. Not going to lie, Desi just gave me the ick.

Thank you to NetGalley & Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group for the opportunity to read Unleashing Chaos by Crystal J. Johnson and Felicity Vaughn in exchange for my honest review.

I love a paranormal romance. There is forced proximity, fake dating. The banter.. a bit of anxiety ridden pa ic attacks... this book was full of story and the hunt for love.

Title: Unleashing Chaos
Author: Crystal J. Johnson | Felicity Vaughn
Genre: Romance | Fantasy | Paranormal
Narration: First-person | Dual POVs
Keywords: magic | demons | slow burn | HEA
TWs (per author): panic attacks (on-page) | past parental death (off-page) | parental abandonment | potentially fatal car accident | unwanted touching

This book is described as a fantasy/paranormal romance, and while that’s technically true, it often didn’t feel like fantasy to me. The characters, including demons and angels, appeared mostly ordinary, and the setting primarily remained within the modern human realm. While magic played a pivotal role in certain parts of the plot, it wasn’t central throughout the whole storyline. This isn't necessarily a criticism but rather an observation for readers seeking a narrative with a more pronounced fantasy theme.

The central plot here is the love story, which is a slow burn with spice (starting around 50% of the book) and a happily ever after. I liked the authenticity and believability of the characters, though there was one exception that initially felt out of place. However, as the story progresses, it becomes clear why this character behaves the way they do. There is plenty of funny and witty banter between the two main characters and I enjoyed watching how their relationship played out. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I would recommend it to anyone who likes low fantasy narratives where romance takes center-stage.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for access to this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

"She is the most beautiful chaos."

Unleashing Chaos has it all. Forced proximity, friends to lovers, fake dating, a slow burn romance and a HEA. Desi and Jace's love story is one for the ages. I really enjoyed the banter between not only Jace and Desi but also between the Main characters and Desi's family. I laughed a lot and could not put it down! For those that are fans of paranormal rom coms I think you will thoroughly enjoy it!

Okay the cover was giving me fantasy romance vibes and boy was I SO FREAKING GLAD to discover it was more along the lines of a paranormal romcom. Don’t get me wrong: the cover is gorgeous and I adore the color purple and all things romantasy, but diving into the story and finding out that slight difference was a delightful surprise. Love me a good paranormal romcom 🥰🥰

💜dual POV

90 days to find a partner. 90 days to find someone to love for all eternity. Beyond that 90 days, she’ll be stuck with whichever demon her father picks for her for the rest of her existence. No pressure.

Moving in with humans and having to hide your demonic nature/abilities while also attempting to find your forever partner. Fake dating, no strings attached yet fighting very very real feelings from the get-go. What could possibly go wrong?? 🤭

I loved how Desi and Jace had complementing but also opposite personalities, how she could be from literal chaos and him so orderly and yet work so well together. I adored how Jace took the time to learn how to properly say her full name and always used it, how he was always there for her when she needed it despite his difficulties with acknowledging his own feelings behind his fears. They were so good for each other and the way they constantly butt heads over their opposite personalities made for some great chemistry.

Outside coupley things, I also really enjoyed Desi being incarnate of a sin we don’t normally see in the limelight or even portrayed by a female. It was a nice change of pace and a delightful addition to the story.

The whole Cannon storyline was also a nice twist that I enjoyed seeing play out. I kind of expected him to be more present than he did throughout the story, but at the same time, it worked out well for Desi and Jace’s development and the revelations around the ending.

Basically, I just thoroughly enjoyed this one!

5/5! I loved this book. It was exactly what I needed. I loved the main characters and their personalities. The fact that the mmc has anxiety disorder was also a plus. I loved seeing a mmc that isn’t perfect but has flaws just like any regular person. It was easy to follow and just an all around good heartwarming story. The paranormal aspect was great as well as the little plot twist at the end. All in all a great book and would definitely recommend it to friends!

With a cover as gorgeous as this one you just know the words inside have to match. From the moment I started reading this story I feel in love with it!

DNF. This is because it starts as magical realism. I am not a fan of that personally and I couldn't get into it. What I did read was great and is perfect for people who like not a lot of magic in their romances.

Thank you to NetGalley & Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group for the opportunity to read Unleashing Chaos by Crystal J. Johnson and Felicity Vaughn in exchange for my honest review.

Going into this one I was excited. I love a good demon love story. Unfortunately, Unleashing Chaos just wasn’t for me.

I found the premise of the book interesting. Desi (a demon) has 90 days to meet her eternal partner (human). She ends up moving into Jace’s house, as does Cannon. Jace is grumpy, Desi is happy, and Cannon is comic relief…I guess. Both guys and their next-door neighbor attempt to help Desi navigate the human world - I found it so strange that they didn’t question her lack of human knowledge more often. I found it pretty light-hearted to start but as the spice began to build, I lost the plot.

This one hits a lot of tropes, I mean a lot. If you’re looking for a book that hits love triangle, grump/sunshine, virgin, fake dating, one bed, forced proximity, false starts, demons/humans, angsty, spicy, over-the-top amount of consent, and mental health then this is for you. I think it was too much for me and ultimately a really difficult one to finish.

For me, the writing never seemed to flow. The ebook file I had was poorly edited and formatted, which made it difficult to remain engaged. I assume those issues will be fixed before release but for me, it took away from the book. I was more interested in Jace and Cannon’s stories than I ever was in Desi, I just found her to be one note. I want to say I’d recommend this to others but I’m not sure it’s ready yet and could use a little more fine tuning.

First of all, I just want to say thank you to the authors and Netgalley for a chance to read this ARC. It was a blast, truly. There was such an epic love story and Desi’s life was so intriguing to read about. Her world was one that I couldn’t get enough of reading about! Plus, two dorky MMC’s who were hot and steamy roommates of hers? Yes please, sign me up! Desi’s relationship with her brothers was another thing I loved in this- but that may just be the sibling in me craving such realistic depictions of a sibling relationship in more books.
This book was serious when it needed to be, funny and witty, and spicy in alllllll the right ways. So many aspects of this book I thought were so well done, and truly enjoyed reading such an impressive arc. The lore was fascinating and I can’t wait to read more by these great authors!!!!
This overall was a rating of 3.75, but rounded up to 4 stars :)

I really enjoyed Jace and Desi’s story it was unlike anything I have read lately. A great romantasy but I would have liked to hear more about Desi’s family and the world that she comes from.

Unleashing Chaos was a very well written peice of work. I fell head first into Desi's story and her being a hopeless romantic. There were a few parts where I felt it was repetitive but overall I really enjoyed the character building.

I loved that there were trials in the relationship between the characters but not a 3rd act breakup that normally upsets me. Without giving away too much I loved the twist towards the end and never even thought that would happen. Books that carry a twist that isn't easily figured out are some of the best reads, which this is.

I'm normally into much spicier peices but the plot really had me engrossed without needing too much else. Not saying this book doesn't have spice because it does and it's good. I liked that it was just enough to really help build the character relationships.
