Thanks to Netgalley, Xpresso Book Tours, Lorelei Johnson and Hailey Jade for the chance to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I loved Prince of Never, it was everything you need in a great fantasy romance: Strong, loveable characters, magic, intrigue and mystery, a sizzling, punchy storyline and off the charts chemistry between the main couple.

Imogen and Tarian have the potential to be a favourite fantasy power couple, up there with Feyre and Rhys from A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J Maas and Mac & Barrons from the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning.

I highly recommend and I'm really looking forward to reading the next installment.

5 stars from me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you to Netgalley, the publishers and of course the author for gifting me this advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

The first book in the Curse of Fate and Fae series and I was immediately drawn in at the mention of Fae!!

I really loved this book but it definitely picked up in the second half and I sped through that part in a few hours! There were some plot twists but also some parts that I guessed but I was still really captivated by the story and I love the whole fae / enemies to lovers tropes so can't wait for the next one in the series.

It has been a so-so read for me. The beginning of the novel reminded me somehow of the scene in the Twilight movie - Bella driving her car, then *Bam!* Edward gets hit and leaves a dent on her car, but he’s nowhere near the car when Bella checked. That sort of thing.

I’m all for strong, independent female leads and Imogen later realizing her real identity reminded me of Aelin in the ACOTAR series. I enjoyed a little bit the push and pull interaction between the love team, their banters, and eventually, their confessions, however, all these did not seem to make the whole thing “romantic”. It felt like the only “foundation” of the budding romance is them being “mates”. I think that it could have been better if they may have had an adventure together or some experience that will let them establish their togetherness, other than the “mate” thing or the spicy/ physically intimate scenes.

Although, initially, Imogen was painted as a strong female lead, I ca’t help but notice, that somehow, Tarian has the upper-hand - even when they already are aware that they mutually like each other. Early on, I already guessed that Imogen may be fae and possibly, of Royal blood given the interaction she had at the ball with *I’m sorry I forgot* the King something.

Anyway, perhaps due to its similarity to some of the plots I am already aware of, that’s why it was not as exciting as it should have been for me. Perhaps, the good part is yet to come especially on the next book in the series. I got curious with the ending being a cliffhanger, but is not extremely drawn to picking up the next book.

I still enjoyed it for the most part.

This book was interesting to say the least. I am not a fan of the Stockholm syndrome trope and it does not work for me here. I hope someone else is able to enjoy this story.

I wanted to love this book, I really did. I found myself immersed in the beginning of the book but faded rather quickly. It just didn't keep me hooked as much I wanted it to and I truly love fantasy books.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher/author for the opportunity to read and review.

The first book in the Curse of Fate and Fae series, Prince of Never was a fun journey into the realm of fantasy romance. If you're a fan of the enemies-to-lovers trope, this book has it all. From the moment I started reading, I was hooked, and I couldn't put it down.

The story revolves around Imogen, a librarian whose life takes a sudden turn when she claims to have been attacked by fantastical creatures. Unfortunately, no one believes her, until she's kidnapped by Tarian, an Unseelie Prince who has no desire to be tied to the mate destined to bring down his kingdom.

What I loved most about this book were the well-crafted characters. Imogen's growth throughout the story is a joy to witness as she becomes more confident and assertive. Tarian's character arc hints at a redemption journey, which keeps you engaged and wanting more.

The book does a great job of keeping you on your toes with intriguing twists and a dose of sexual tension between the main characters. I appreciated the unique approach of keeping the human and Fae realms separate, connected only by a portal. The addition of changelings in the plot added an interesting layer not commonly found in modern Fae romances.

However, I would have preferred a bit more world-building before diving into the narrative. The first chapter moved swiftly, which was exciting but left me slightly confused. Additionally, I wanted more details about Imogen's past and a more elaborate exploration of the prophecy that brings Tarian into her life.

Despite these minor shortcomings, 'The Prince of Never' is a compelling fantasy read that promises more exciting developments in the series. My only complaint is that it wasn't longer, as there's potential for greater detail and elaboration. I'm eagerly looking forward to the next book in the series

Thank you for providing me a copy to review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I liked it a lot, it has romance, a prophecy and it keeps you wanting to read throughout the entire book. My only problem is that I don't really like the Fated Mates trope and in this specific case it seems like they don't need to have a conversation to feel attracted to each other.
Still, I look forward to the next installment.

A quick and fast paced read. For me it was a little too unrelatable. The character seemed to run off into danger quite a lot which for me was a little bit unrealistic. There were some darker fantasy themes weaved in with the lighter ones. Some of the banter really did make me chuckle.

I really enjoyed that the fae world existed alongside the modern world and it was an enjoyable read, but it didn't blow me away.

The Prince of Never follows Imogen, a librarian, who claims to have been attacked by creatures of fantasy. Subsequently, everyone thinks she's lost her marbles. She's proven correct when she's kidnapped by Tarian, an Unseelie Prince who wants nothing to do with the mate he's been told will take down his kingdom.

I very much enjoyed this book. It had all my favorite tropes: enemies to lovers, fated mates, forced proximity. The characters were well developed. I can see the beginnings of a redemption ARC for Tarian and I'm interested to see more. Imogen really grows throughout the book and I loved seeing her become more confident and really own her space. Ethan was a fun addition when he'd pop up.

My one wish was that the prophecy was shared earlier. I think from a reader perspective, it would have been fun unraveling it as I went along instead of having to go back and think of what's already happened. Very excited for Book 2.

The idea behing this book isn’t bad. Did I enjoy reading this? Well, kinda. Do I think it’s a good book? The potential is there but I feel it gives 2017 wattpad story vibes. Everything I read reminds me of other books and it did not have that certain something that makes me fall in love. The main characters slightly annoyed me and I do think it’s hard writing great characters that have great chemistry. But I also think it’s necesary. This book felt a lot like a book. I saw words on pages. When I read a book I don’t want it to feel like one. So, I do think this needs improvement, but like I mentioned, I can see the potential.

A librarian in Australia gets kidnapped and whisked away to the fae realm where she may or may not be mated to a fae prince
✅ set in current day and the fae move between realms so the conversation is like how people talk in 2023 (I know people have OPINIONS about this, but I like it)
✅ World building but it happens quickly. You dive straight into plot.
✅ fated mates
✅ book 1 in a series
🌶️: yes!

Prince of Never is the first book in the Curse of Fate and Fae series. If you enjoy fantasy romance with a good enemies to lovers vibe then this will tick all the boxes! But be warned that the story is immersive and in the end you will be hooked and wanting more.

I loved that these two authors created two rather intriguing and distinct main characters. Imogen is a librarian whos world is uprooted when she is captured and taken to Faerie as a prisoner of the Unseelie Prince, Terrian. Potentially fated to be the very curse that will bring down his court, Imogen must learn to adapt and survive the hostile faery world and its Prince.

Nothing more needs to be said about the story, other than it is well written, has strong characters, some intriguing twists to the storyline, interesting and likable peripheral characters and a good dose of sexual tension between the main characters.

This book is a good enemies to lovers read set in the Fae realm complete with nasty beasties. I liked that unlike some other Fae based books, the human realm is entirely separate and requires a portal to go between then two rather than a wall like a lot of others. The two don't seem to intertwine asides from changelings, a concept not included in a lot of modern Fae romances. My only criticism would be that you couldn't really see the chemistry between the two main characters and there was no real reason Imogen would have fallen for the main male character asides from the forced feelings from their mate bond. That aside, the characters and world are intriguing and I'd definitely like to continue reading the series to see where it goes next.

Thank you to Lorelei Johnson, Hailey Jade, and NetGalley for the ARC ebook edition!

This book had so much potential for me! I loved the concept of the world, and found the main characters’ personalities intriguing. I love a dual-POV, which kept my interest piqued throughout the book. The tension between Imogen and Tarian was great! The side characters were also really enjoyable, and I loved the side-plot of changelings that was incorporated.

I would have liked a little bit more world-building before jumping right into the story. The first chapter moves very fast; it kept me on my toes but it also felt a little bit rushed and I was confused. I really enjoyed Imogen’s character, but I felt as though there could have been a little more elaboration on her attack when she was younger. I also wish there was more detail on the prophecy that brings Tarian into her life; maybe something like a brief epilogue? I felt like I was missing a huge piece of backstory for the majority of the book. I am a big fan of an enemies to lovers and fated mates trope, but I also felt as though this was a bit rushed.

Overall, I enjoyed this fantasy. I was a quick and fun read, and left me guessing where the authors are going to take the story next! My only complaint was that it wasn’t long enough. I feel like there could have been more details and elaboration that would have definitely made this book rank higher for me!

This was a decent read. I liked Imogen well enough, but the Prince tried my nerves. And honestly, SJM has ruined the idea of mates and mate bonding for me in stories forever..I understand why it's important to the story, and it moves things from dubious sexual territory but it's also not a great way to explain the insta love to a dude that wants to kill you, is keeping you prisoner and you simply need to sleep with. Also the damper thing; also SJM.

Anyway, the story is pretty good, the breadcrumbs pay off and there's some spice in here (I always skip over that though). Imogens backstory will probably be the focus of the next book which hopefully proves to flesh out this world more.

Full disclosure, I haven't actually finished this book, but only because reading the e format wasn't working for me, so I'm going to pick up a hard copy instead. I'm really enjoying the characters and I love the whole premise and set up!

3.5 stars
This book was okay, I liked the writing. My problem with it is it doesn’t feel very original, it’s a fated mate fae story with ‘enemies to lovers’. It’s a good start to a series. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

It was hard to say if I loved it or not because the story was good and I love dual pov but the decisions the characters made sometimes infuriated me. I’d definitely say it’s a solid 3/5 for me!

Prince of Never, by Lorelei Johnson and Haley Jade, Book #1 in the Cures of Fate and Fae series. Fated Mates, captured FMC, prophecy.

I rate this 2 stars.

This is a quick read, it has a brief intro to many things. Superficial character development, world building and magic system. It is definitely setting up for the rest of the series to build upon and answer what’s really going on. I thought I would enjoy this book a lot but I just couldn’t invest into anyone. Everything moves very swiftly, from when Imogen is taken from the human world to her *toxic*relationship to Tarian. They know nothing about each other and we know nothing about them.

I am truly hoping that questions will be answered in the following books and more detailed world building can occur.

Did I read the whole book, yes. Was it my favorite, no. Will I read the second book, yes.

Thank you, NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
