This is the 3rd in the series and I absolutely adore this series. I love Cherry and her character. It is absolutely perfect. I read this book in one sitting. I couldn't put it down. This was such a great book! Hope there is more in the series.
I just reviewed That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Human by Kimberly Lemming. #NetGalley

In That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Human, the premise sounds promising enough for a quirky fantasy tale. However, the execution falls short of expectations. While the protagonist's drunken escapades add a humorous element, the story lacks depth and fails to fully explore its potential. The narrative feels disjointed at times, with the titular event serving as more of a gimmick than a driving force behind the plot. Despite its comedic moments, this novel struggles to leave a lasting impression and ultimately feels like a missed opportunity for a truly memorable adventure.

It’s been a bit since I read the second book of this series and enjoyed it, but haven’t found time to get to this coz I don’t have an audiobook. I went into this not knowing who the characters were going to be, so it was a pleasant surprise and I had so much fun binging through this in a single sitting.

Cherry has been lonely for five years due to being kidnapped by dragon and doesn’t wanna trust a new one who proclaims that he will save her. Dante instantly knows she is his mate but also has enough decency to defer to her that she needs space and time to decide about a relationship. It was a little less instalovey than the first two books, so it was nice to see the developing bond between the two. Dante taking Cherry on an adventure trip to make her happy was sweet. There’s obviously some hot sexy times in the second half of the book. We also meet Alexis who was a nice little addition to this delightful story.

The writing in this book was as funny as expected, with its share of heartwarming, tear jerking and gory violent moments. I breezed through it very quickly, squealing when we get glimpses of the past characters. I think this is the end of the series but I feel like I wouldn’t mind if the author stays in this world and writes more romances for the rest of the side characters. Overall a very enjoyable trilogy, and definitely the kind of cozy romantasies I want to read more of in the future.

Another fun and whimsical addition to the world of Mead Mishaps. This features our favorite Storm Dragon Dante finding his fated mate, Cherry. This one felt very rushed compared to the previous books. Cherry drugging Dante and getting bit sent the relationship/courting into high overdrive and flew through it. Dante checking in with Felix on how to be with a human was cute. I don't particularly love Alexis and the absolute chaos that follows in her wake.

I absolutely love this series. Ive never read anything as ridiculously joyful, chaotic and vibrant as these books. This last installment really wrapped things up, but i would love more stories and tales from the demons now free to live their lives and the humans that encounter them!

This one was so cute! I loved that Cherry wasn't dead and was able to reunite with Cinnamon and the rest of her family. Lemming is a fun romance author and I think I will read just about anything she puts out. It follows Cherry and Dante (a weather dragon, a pirate, and a friend of Cherry's friend Cinnamon). Instead of being drowned as a girl, Cherry instead was saved by a very quiet dragon. Saved is kind of a loose word though since he locks her up in a tower and won't let her leave.

Then Dante shows up to check in on his old dragon buddy and finds Cherry. Desperate to be free and see her family again she drugs his tea (?) and he whisks her away to his remote and icy castle. Seemingly having traded one cage for another, Cherry is a little warry of Dante and his affection. But soon the two set off on a unicorn adventure and eventually make it home to Cherry's family in Boohail. It was an incredibly cute and fun romance story that incorporates all the other characters from previous stories including Felix and Brie and Alexis the talking cursed sword.

Again, my family looks at my book reviews! Kimberly Lemming has made a hilarious and horny series that is just fun. Between the characters who get themselves into mess and then not explaining because of cultural assumptions, the big horny, and the food descriptions; readers are in for a good time.

I love these books! Great time with these, I love the colloquial world mixed with fantasy. Can’t wait to read more!

A sexy, and hilarious, fantasy romp that had me shaking the bed from laughter. Lemming leaned into the comedy of romantic comedy and it paid off. I adored Cherry and her antics as she flip-flopped about Dante and whether she liked him or wanted to haul ass. Their chemistry was fantastic with or without the mating bite (but that was hot though) and that chemistry paid off multiple times. Also, I need more of Alexis the sassy talking sword. This was my first Mead Mishaps book and I'm definitely going to read the others now.

Thank you to Orbit and NetGalley for the earc. All opinions are my own.

I tried really hard to like these series, but they just fell flat. The premise was very interesting, but all of the information is all over the place. Slang and medieval times, random made up swear words, wild situations constantly. Just not keeping my interest.

My goodness have I enjoyed this series. Hilarious, sexy, and just plain FUN, as well as having cozy aspects which I also really enjoyed. If you are looking for a paranormal romance series that is going to make you laugh out loud then this is for you!

Romancelandia has been abuzz about Kimberly Lemming’s Mead Mishaps series, thanks to the series’ cleverly – and intentionally – silly titles. If the title is off-putting to you, then you’re not the target audience. If it makes you smile, read on!

Dante is a dragon, one of the demons recently released from the realm of Volsog. Now able to return to the human realm after hundreds of years, he’s on a mission to find his mate. Cherry, a young Black woman from the Bayou who’s been imprisoned in a tower, just wants to get away from dragons and go back to regular human life. But she’s been locked away so long, she doesn’t realize that life is over – demons and humans are living as one now. When Dante rescues Cherry from her tower, he takes her on what’s essentially a Grand Tour of this fantastical new world. Readers get a speedrun of the world building, which is lighthearted and rather handwave-y. I was prepared to really like this, not in spite of its silliness, but because of it!

Unfortunately there’s a major case of insta-love here, which maybe isn’t surprising given the “fated mates” trope. But I don’t think the trope was executed all that well. Using “fated mates” to highlight the attraction between Cherry and Dante first and then developing their emotional attachment would’ve been much more satisfying. As it was, the romance felt rushed and the plot was too haphazard for me to really get invested in either Cherry or Dante’s character arcs. Actually, neither of them really have arcs – there isn’t much growth for them.

If there’s one thing that really shines in That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Human, it’s the humour. My god, Kimberly Lemming is hilarious. If you like silly, slightly absurd humour that leans into the anachronistic, then you’ll get a kick out of this. I laughed out loud so many times while reading that my husband eventually caved and asked me what was so damn funny! I like that Lemming actually pokes fun at the “monster romance” genre, even her own. There’s a talking sword named Alexis who insists on being treated like a human. In one scene, Cherry’s perusal through the bestiary/encyclopedia The Big Book of Beasts, reveals that each entry contains details on monster’s uh, “bits.” I got a good chuckle out of that.

I think I would’ve enjoyed this more had I read the first two books in the series. Many romance series don’t need to be read chronologically, but I failed to account for the fantasy part of this fantasy-romance. The recaps felt like info-dumps because I was missing context from previous books, and the world-building felt a little clunky. That’s not the fault of the book – just advice for those interested in the series. Definitely start at the beginning!

Recommended for fans of absurdist humour and monster romance, in that order. I will happily read more from Lemming, but maybe not this series.

Listen, if you haven’t ready any of Kimberly Lemming’s books, what are you doing??? I enjoyed this one of course! It was giving damsel in distress, or so he thinks 😂. This girl doesn’t need anyone to fight her battles for sure. And if I haven’t already mentioned Alexis the talking sword, you definitely know her now 😂. I’m just such a fan of these titles, the vibes, the banter, everything 💚

Gah! Now I’m done with the trilogy. This was my favorite of the three. Dante and Cherry are so great and watching them come together was so fun. I can’t wait to see what Kimberly Lemming gives me next!

Cherry is a woman who gets kidnapped by a dragon. One day she is accidentally saved by another dragon (well a dragon shifter), Dante, and taken away to his castle. He almost instantly knows that she is his fated mate, but she doesn't know. Cherry is furious with him and scared, thinking that she is still in danger. Dante works to win her over as they go on a bit of a road trip.

While this is the third book in a series, it is the first I have read. Thankfully, they are stand-alones with some references to the other books. The other couples are in the friend group of the main characters in this novel. I think readers of this series will be delighted by the cameos because I was and I didn't even have much context for the characters.

Cherry and Dante have great chemistry. I love their dynamic of a soft hero and feisty heroine. Dante is such a cinnamon roll for Cherry but he is a dragon. So there are several times when his protective alpha nature comes out for her. These personality dynamics make for incredibly spicy sexy times and great banter. I also enjoyed the parts where Dante expresses his dragon tendencies. This was my first shifter book so maybe this is typical of the trope. But I enjoyed the balance of him hoarding treasures like a dragon and also him being a typical man in other ways. Dante was so patient with Cherry by proving to her his character and pampering her. Cherry was so spunky and resilient, so it was great to see her be taken care of.

Needless to say, I will be picking up the other two in the series and am excited to read anything else Kimberly Lemming puts out!

This is the final book in the Mead Mishaps series. These books hit the sweet spot of cozy fantasy with a lot of spice. In this story we follow Dante as he finds his mate - I won't spoil his mate's name as it is a potential spoiler of something mentioned in book 1. This book and series are really easy reads and if in a book slump will definitely help get you through it. Thank you Netgalley and Orbit books for the advanced reader copy.

If you loved the first two books, this one follows a similar style but introduces fresh characters and settings! Dante was a standout character, his devotion to Cherry from the start was endearing, especially as their relationship evolved. I love the way that Kimberly Lemming writes!

This whole series has won me over! I would never classify myself as a romance reader, but Kimberly Lemming has changed my mind. If she writes it, I'm going to read it. I can't tell you the amount of times that I literally laughed out loud while reading this book. There are a few spicy scenes, but there is plenty of plot that kept me engaged. Loved this!

When I tell you each book keeps getting better I mean it. Each novel keeps building the world in new and brilliant ways, on top of having adorable and funny romance to keep you fully hooked.

This third installment in Kimberly Lemming's fantasy/shifter rom-com series was a lot of fun! While this wasn't my favorite book out of the series, I still enjoyed reading about Cherry and Dante. It has all the elements of her books that readers enjoy--slapstick comedy, fantasy adventure, magic, mystery subplots, and of course a steamy fated mates romance. I'm not sure if Kimberly Lemming has more books planned for the Mead Mishaps series, but I will definitely be seated for her next release!
