Lizzie and Esther are proprietors of the Peony Inn. They are the local matchmakers. They plan to matchmake for each other with a retired dentist who is renting a cottage from them.
Each of them begin to care for Ben, and it begins to cause issues with their relationship.
Meanwhile, Ben's granddaughter begins a romance with an Amish man as well.
Ben is keeping secrets from his granddaughter. He has moved to be closer to her but also has an ulterior motive.
Will Ben and Mindy find happiness within this Amish community or will Mindy end up with a broken heart from losing her grandparent and the love of her life. Thanks to #netgalley for allowing me to readread an arc for an honest review. #amishmatchmakers
I really enjoyed this book! The narration was great, and the story was really cute! Wiseman does it agin!
What a wonderful light hearted book. Romantic, mysterious, and fun. First time reading this author and well worth it. A easy and quick read. Perfect for that day by the pool, beach, or lake. Highly recommend. I’m
Another great story by Beth Wiseman. Amish love stories or Christian Romance are stories about falling in love. A heartfelt tale of falling in love where sex is forbidden before marriage. Romance and sexual tension runs high in these types of stories.
The Amish Matchmakers are two elderly widows that typically try to make people fall in love. This time it’s their turn! Two worlds collide in this Amish town.
I liked the young couple best.
Against the odds Love conquers all!
Narration was done very well. I appreciate the narrator pronunciation of English and Pennsylvania Dutch vocabulary. It made the story more authentic.
This was a really cute Amish story. It has romance with two couples but so much more. I personally really enjoy Amish books and this one was great. I plan to read more of the authors books! Thanks NetGalley, the publisher and author for an advanced copy of the book!!
I have always been fascinated with the Amish, so I enjoy occasionally picking up a book to escape into Amish Country. I have just completed a long 400+ page historical fiction book and a few dark twisty mystery thrillers, so this was the perfect light fun palette cleanser that I needed.
I immediately fell in love with sister Lizzie and Edith who play matchmaker to their new tenneant. Dr Sam. While the seniors are embarking on a little love triangle Sam's granddaughter Mindy has a little romance brewing with one of the local Amish boys.
The story is very endearing and charming. Lizzie and Edith provide some spice to what would be a regular plain Amish book.
If you need a quick, clean love story this is your ticket!
Thank you Netgalley and Beth Wiseman for this advanced copy read. I was not influenced or paid for my honest review.
The Amish Matchmakers (Amish Inn)
Beth Wiseman
This is the story of two widowed sisters, Esther and Lizzie. They live in Montgomery, Indiana where they own and manage The Peony Inn. The ladies are well known for their matchmaking skills. A retired dentist, Dr. Benjamin Stolzfus has signed and paid in advance a six-month lease on a small cottage from the ladies. The ladies are very different in personality, Esther is quiet and gentle, more refined while Lizzie is high spirited, speaks her mind. The sisters find themselves in competition for the doctor’s attention. Stolzfus is definitely an Amish sounding name; could the good doctor have Amish in his lineage.
Dr. Stolzfus moves to Montgomery to spend time getting to know his granddaughter, Mindy. While she was raised in Texas, she fell in love with the quiet and peaceful life of Montgomery, Indiana. From the moment Gabriel and Mindy lay eyes on each other the sparks start to fly. Gabriel is Amish and stands true to his faith while Mindy is a Christian but not Amish. What begins as a friendship soon grows into love. But how can an English and an Amish work.
I absolutely love this book. I found myself laughing at some of the antics between Esther and Lizzie. Their rivalry is so cute and their devotion to each other is touching. It is easy to see why the good doctor is drawn to Lizzie, life with her would never be boring. This book breaks the myth that mature adults do not fall in love and that all Amish are alike. I found several things interesting in this tale. I have Amish friends and have learned a lot about being Amish but did not know they do not pray out loud before a meal. The romance between Mindy and Gabriel is very sweet and show Christian values. Kudos to author Beth Wiseman for a well done book with a deep message.

I am a big thriller fan and I do like Amish stories but they usually are mysteries. So I changed it up a bit as I was in the mood for a nice positive story.
Story is about how having love and faith; you too can find the right person (even when you are 70!) who will bring you happiness.
This was my first Beth Wiseman novel and I definitely will read another.

A cute, wholesome, heartwarming love story! Quite predictable, but still sweet.

The Amish Matchmakers is the first book I have read by Beth Wiseman. The book was beautifully written and heartfelt. While two older ladies have been assisting others with finding love for years, they haven't looked to find love for themselves. When a man moves into the cottage nextdoor, they see their chances - and they aren't the only ones who find love! An easy read that leaves you feeling happy and fuffilled. I will definately be reading more books by this author in the future.
Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for the ARC of this book.
This is a beautifully written life story. I use the term life instead of love because love is often equated with youth. Lizzy, Esther and Ben are all in their second season of life. They have lived, loved and experienced loss. Lizzy and her sister Esther live together and rent host a bed and breakfast style business. They manage cottage rentals, meals and offer their guests Amish hospitality. They’re both full of wisdom, grit and above all gentleness. One of the concerns with aging is sickness and death. The author addresses these themes with great compassion. The characters have a strong relationship with God, so their concern is never for themselves but for those left behind. Esther wants to ensure that Lizzy is cared for. Lizzy wants to ensure that Esther is cared for. In steps the handsome, retired dentist Ben. He seems to be an answer to each sister’s concern. However Ben has concerns of his own. He’s recently moved to live closer to his sole relation (his granddaughter). His granddaughter is thrilled to have her grandfather who was once estranged in her life. To add to her happiness is a new friendship that sparks between her and Gabriel (a young Amish gentleman). Neither Ben nor his granddaughter have ties to the Amish community.
As the story develops, we come to love each character based on their own merit. It’s very easy to see yourself interwoven in the storyline. I see myself as Lizzy. A God fearing, witty, eccentric woman who is selfless yet tough. Each character evolves and it’s wonderful to be a part of this journey.
I am so thankful for the novels conclusion. I didn’t want to cry sad tears. Instead I cried happy tears. There were so many new beginnings. It’s heartening to read a faith filled novel that is engaging and inspiring. I’d definitely recommend this novel. It’s a 5 ⭐️ reading experience.
