Thanks to netgalley and publisher for this arc.
Thought this would be a cute romcom with hints to a real life couple we love but it was cringe and a bit too much fan fiction mess for me so didn't enjoy.

Thanks, Netgalley, for the arc!
I'm a big fan of anything royal - fiction or nonfiction. I saw the cover of HER ROYAL HIGHNESS and immediately was intrigued. I started the book and thought, "Okay, this is cute fan fictionyish writing of a royal British family story." But I thought too soon because that all changed a page or two later in the first chapter as it rushed from cute to whoaaaa-full-steam-ahead-who-are-these-characters-now-big-eyes-shocked-face staring at my kindle. It was like the author decided, "We are just going to forget everything about building a romance."
I continued reading for a few more chapters and eventually gave up. I've read plenty of fan fiction, books written like fan fiction, and books that real-life people inspire. This was one written like fan fiction with abysmal editing. Instead of being inspired by real-life people, it retold the life story of a certain redhead prince and took his wife out of the picture, placing a woman they thought was better suited for him and having everything that happened with his wife happen with her. It would be different if everything were a fantasy with the likeness of Harry, but this took Meghan's life and made her a white woman. Disgusting. If you want to put yourself in the story, write a freaking new story.
My other colossal grievance: out of all the guy names the author could have chosen, they picked Archie? The name of their son?!?!? For real?!??!? Please pretend there are a bunch of green, sick-faced emojis here. You want to read this and fantasize about him with their child's name? Blah. Gross. Yuck. Blargh. Honestly, that was my final straw. I couldn't picture the image of the father with the son's name being sad, especially with the cringy writing. This wasn't a Ben Solo/Han Solo situation here.
Oh, if you haven't figured it out yet, my royalty reader friends, please don't read this. I wasted my time, so don't waste yours.

thank you to netgalley for the advanced reading copy. I really enjoyed this and will be getting copies for my shop.

Thank you very much for the opportunity to read this book early! I really enjoyed it. I thought the writing was very well done, and the story kept me interested. I believe my students/patrons would also love this book and will be acquiring it for the library!

Lighthearted and entertaining romcom, if you leave aside the facts and reality check. I enjoyed it. Loved how the pacing was fast enough and how their relationship kinda happened really fast, and I was so intrigued by how their relationship would pan out that at times I even forgot to annotate it. Plus, heroine was very relatable. She's the mood.

I thought this was quite humorous- and it was honestly a delightful book! I thought that the characters were well rounded and full. Cheers!

I really didn’t like this.
It felt like reading someone’s intimate fantasy about a real person and throwing in their childhood nostalgia or.. something?
I also found it weird that the siblings were called after the narnia siblings? I found myself questioning the author’s thought process more than just reading the book
If it was a totally fictionalised prince who looked totally different to Harry and the girl wasn’t a knock off Meghan Markle (she’s even mixed race!!) who all had random names, then it would’ve been fine and enjoyable, because it was except for that looming over, reminding me that these “characters” actually exist and their resemblance to anyone living or dead was definitely not a coincidence as the copyright page tries to suggest.
It was just so glaring that it was inspired by real people and it simply made me uncomfortable.

I DNFed this book, but only because it was so difficult to read through. This is definitely mean, but this book is unreleased and honestly I wish it would stay that way. If I could give this book zero stars, I would. I thought this book looked interesting, but within the first few pages I realized I was wrong, I wasn’t expecting a slow burn romance, but this book was way too fast. Unfortunately, it reads like a fanfiction and isn’t super interesting to read. I was going to include some quotes to show what I mean, but it is a little traumatizing to read and when the entire book sounds like it was written by a middle schooler in love with Prince Harry, I’d rather not make you read any quotes.
I had high hopes, but in the end I was disappointed. ☹️☹️

It isn't that I was expecting literature, but the level of trashiness achieved here was beyond my wildest imaginings. The dialogue alone...

Unfortunately I was unable to read the advanced copy gifted to me, as I was unable to download it in time.
I do hope to read a finished copy of this novel when it is published.

A funny , sexy and emotional story about two different people who meet be chance . Lucy is an American violinist and has an charity for unprivileged children who love music and at the night at the gala she presents an award with the Prince of England Arthur she finally meet him . They have a funny chat while they wait for their time . When the night is come and she looking in the hotel somewhere to eat or drink she meets with Arthur again and he asks her to be his guest . Their chemstry is of the charts from the first minute , but she is worried because of her ex fiance because he end up being married with children in Italy . On their way to their rooms the paparazzi photographed them like he is proposing him and also his older brother just abdicated the throne . Now Arthur because doesn't want to cause problem has to marry Lucy . His brothe and grandmother are not loving her but Arthur and Lucy fight to be the monarchs the people really want .
I received this book from netgalley and the publicer as an ARC . Thank you . All thoughts and opinions are my own .

Bottom line: if you're into the British monarchy, you might have strong opinions about this book. If you're not, it's an amusing if predictable light romcom royalty read.
This is a typical "commoner must marry a prince to avoid scandal" romance novel setup. It was cute, if a bit predictable, hitting all the expected highs and lows for the trope. Musician Lucy Almont is engaged to second-in-line royal Prince Arthur after photographers snap a pic of what appears to be a proposal between the two.
It's a familiar story trope, and it was a lighthearted easy read. I would've liked to see more development of Lucy's struggles, as giving up everything you know to live across the ocean was handled a bit lightly for my preference. I also noted, after reading other reviews, that this book may be a very light retelling of portions of the current British Royal family's story; some readers may like this fact and others may dislike it. Overall, I found the writing enjoyable and the reading easy.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for the free copy in exchange for a review.

Part of me really enjoyed this romp - and that's totally what it was, a romp. It was funny and stupid and not based in much of any kind of reality and sometimes that's what I want from my romances. The parts that very obvious followed all the Harry & Meghan drama and the Sussex story felt boring to me. Like we've talked it to death and it just made this story feel very obvious and unremarkable. The parts that were funny were funny, but mostly it was the characters rehashing that this shouldn't work and they were courting more trouble. I did enjoy their communication style. None of that miscommunication or "I'll tell them tomorrow" which never comes drama here. I think ultimately it was both of them and their inability to trust each other or themselves that really set me off. If you are looking for a utter silly read with a lot of steam this is the book for you!
Prince Arthur of Wales, younger brother of the current King of England, never believed he'd inherit the throne. He'd been groomed to make his older brother and his family look good, not to stand out.
That all changes while on a trip to New York City to present at a charity gala. His co-presenter, Lucy Almont, who owns a failing charity and was recently dumped by her fiancé, meet by chance at a restaurant after the awards. Both in need of cheering up.
After spending a steamy night with Lucy, Archie learns his older brother's troubles have reached the news and instead of standing tall, he has abdicated the throne.
To Archie.
Worst of all, the future king was photographed by the Paparazzi at a bar with a woman wearing an engagement ring. The Royal news is a flutter with a royal marriage.
Archie's grandmother has indicated in no uncertain terms that he must marry the American charity owner in order to save face. There can be no more scandal. Archie offers to help expand her charity work and provide her opportunities to grow it if she'll become the next Queen Consort.
Will Archie and Lucy be able to convince the public that their love is real, or will their farce come to light and ruin them both?

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC. And I love anything royal, but this book was a true struggle. I found it boring and not very well written.

I enjoyed this book. It was a light read, while still having enough real-life issues to feel believable. I did get a little annoyed with the main characters - MMC for being a doormat, and MFC for not trusting MMC. However, I will say that if there's a book 2, I will read it!

I loved this book sooo much! I honestly think it might be my favorite romance read of 2023. Lucy was such a fun FMC. I typically like the MMC more in romance novels but Lucy is one of my favorite characters ever. I feel like in books where the male lead is famous, the female lead tends to be very down on herself, but I didn't feel like Lucy was that way at all. She had her flaws, but she wasn't constantly nagging herself about them, which I liked. I also loved that the book got straight into the action. There wasn't chapter upon chapter of useless information and the author got straight into the characters and their relationship, which I loved. This was such a fun book!

Unfortunately there were formatting issues on Kindle, but I could read on my phone (not my preference but still doable). The romance is light and fun, and a great read for people who love romcom and something to read on a getaway or in this perfect winter/autumn time.

Well... this was different!
Take a look at that cover- the first thought that popped into my head when I saw it was: "that's Harry & a blonde Meghan!" Sure enough, the storyline STRONGLY followed the Sussex saga. The Harry look-alike is even named "Archie" after the Real Harry's son. The connections to the royals is huge and kept playing in my mind, overshadowing everything else in the plot. You will even find an "Andrew" and a "Duke of York" mixed in the there too!
This book is an "instalove" delivered in a light-hearted romance, so if you like that, and you are looking for a book that is not serious in tone, it's worth giving this book a read.
Thank you to NetGalley and A.J. Arnault for granting me an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

👦👧 Lucy -a musician (female lead) met Prince Arthur (male lead) on a hosting event
📝 Lucy hosted with Prince Arthur to present an award but their meeting created a spark between them but also made an intriguing accident were they were misconstrued as being engaged. Their life together started from there in which they get to know each other and protect each other too
✅ The picture of the characters on the cover page is already a give away that it was somehow patterned to the lives of the royal family but was told on a different light and perspective; it was relatable having to have an idea of the royal family. The steamy part is to a minimum not resorting to be icky at all.
❌ I cant think of any.. i honestly enjoyed it a lot
❤️ It was like a fairy tale were the damsel in distress was saved by the prince. It was funny and adorable the way the characters were presented. Each character tells a different story and and i can’t wait for the next book.Who doesn’t want to be a queen and be treated like one too by your king. Arthur is just perfect.. they are perfect for each other! I just read it in just a day-it’s unputdownable and I’m so happy #netgalley and #ajarnault gave me an advance digital copy because reading and reviewing it is worth it
