To be perfectly honest- I was a little shocked at how good this book was. I’m a sucker for a royal romance and the second I saw the cover with the cartoon prince who is the spitting image of Prince Harry I said sign me up. However, because it was so obviously inspired by a real life prince I was prepared for the possibility that this could be a really poorly written fan fiction. Within only a few pages I knew I had greatly misjudged this book and was in for a good time. This story has a lot of details that are pulled from real life while also putting its own spin on things. The writing itself was fantastic. There was the perfect amount of spice that was so enjoyable because the story was written so well. The characters you’re supposed to love were so great and the characters you’re supposed to hate are the perfect amount of garbage. @ajarnault surprised me in the best way and I genuinely had such a good time reading this. I HIGHLY recommend this book to anyone who loves contemporary fiction, Royal romances, anyone who follows the Royal in real life, or anyone looking for a fun escape.

"Her Royal Highness" is a royal romance that delves into the captivating journey of King Archie and Lucy as they crossed paths, navigated the complexities of royal life, and ultimately found love against all odds. This book provides an intriguing story off the bat that is bound to hook readers in. The narrative is engaging and though i wish it was a little bit more well-researched, it still offers a balanced blend of plot and enthralling romantic scenes. Overall, "Her Royal Highness" is an enjoyable read for those who dream about finding their own Prince Charming. Thank you NetGalley for this ARC!
Pros:
Excellent smut - the dirty talking was the best i’ve ever read.
Cons:
the characters are reminiscent of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle - The male main character on the cover is literally a cartoon of Harry and his name in the book is Archie (which is Harry and Meghan’s sons name). In the book, his mom also died in a similar way to princess diana… so i found this a little unsavory and too on the nose. it really made me feel like i was reading a fanfiction - i would love to see more uniqueness in the characters and their story.
I would have also loved for their meet-to-proposal timeline to have been a bit more drawn out to keep the tension build up and interest going. He’s a king, he can surely stay an extra week to get to know and date this women before he proposes and claims she’ll be an amazing queen after knowing her for less than a day.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this arc.
I was drawn to this book as I am intrigued by anything ‘Royal family.’ I did enjoy the royal family aspects but Lucy and Arthur’s love was so fast, it wasn’t enjoyable.

I really enjoyed this sweet and fluffy royal romance. This romance very much follows a fictional version of the British royal family with our MMC, Archie, being very much coded as Prince Harry down to the fact that his mother died in an accident caused by the paparazzi. What I will say is that it was a little awkward that there was a character called Prince Andrew and there was also one point where the Duke of York was described as being the most popular working royal 😬 (these were two different characters but a little awks nonetheless)
Beyond the book having that feel of a book that features the royal family that was clearly written by an American, it was generally well-executed and it was very self-aware of the fact that Lucy having to give up all of the things that were important to her was neither healthy nor would she be in a happy place doing so. I also respected that Lucy's self-doubt came from a real place of her ex thoroughly doing a number on her and it would has a lasting impact on her.
Overall, this was a great book to get lost in. The ending was a little on the weaker side but I think that is largely because this is Book 1 in a series so there was still more to these characters' stories to come.
I am definitely interested in reading Book 2 as we will be following a character I really hated and a character I really loved 👀

Absolutely LOVED this! The writer's style is my favorite to read...funny and fun, with a lot of wit and heart. Loved Lucy and Archie, their meet cute, everything about their romance. Can't wait to read the next book!

I read this first on Wattpad, and then managed to get it on here. Its sweet and lighthearted. I think some of the jokes were cringy. Lucy is relatable and is down to earth. Prince Archie gives me harry vibes (always a bonus!). Overall - it was enjoyable reading about Lucy and Archie trying to work around challenges and find each other. I would definitely recommend.

Lighthearted, funny and absolutely wonderful. I didn't want to put it down and was so sad when I reached the end. I loved how Archie and Lucy learned to communicate and were always in one another's corners. You never doubted their love for each other and the way they built each other up. I also loved the way in which the media was portrayed and how Lucy recognized that she shouldn't have to make herself smaller to be what other people needed her to be. I will definitely be back for Royally Flush #2.

This was too insta-love for me. The characters have very little interaction before they're in love. However, I can't skip a royal romance. As much as I thought this book was pretty blah, I would be interested in reading the next book in the series about Molly and Andrew who were compelling characters in this book.

Note, this book was read with an ARC.
I've never struggled so hard to get through what could have been a fun beach read. I will assume the book hasn't gone through editing since it was an ARC (the grammatical errors/formatting issues drove me crazy!).
It lost me at this quote which happens in the first chapter:
"Their eyes met again, and the heat crawling up her neck found its way into other areas of her body. Namely, ones that rhymed with Carolina. Okay. Maybe that wasn’t the best rhyme, but what the hell did rhyme with vagina?"
Let's be honest, if you are going to just end up saying vagina, why bother talking about things that rhymed with it?!
Ok, so we're past this part. We end up having sex in a bar (and hey...who hasn't done that once in their life)? Oh, but this is Pretty Woman-style bar sex. AKA piano sex. Our main character is a concert violinist. For a fake NYC orchestra. But I'll fully assume the author did absolutely no research on what it means to be a professional musician and this was just a plot device to write my other favorite line of the book:
"No, he was giving her choices every step of the way, just like he always did. Every aspect of their relationship so far had been this way. Like they were learning how to play a chord together."
Now, I am not a professional musician by any stretch of the imagination, but I know enough to be thoroughly confused by this simile. Please, can someone explain it to me. Because the only choices in playing a chord together are literally what note are you playing and which octave are you playing it in? Unless the choices are playing in or out of tune. Oh, and top tier orchestras aren't usually about connections - there are insane auditions to get in. And the seats are usually tenured, plus it's expected that you are also teaching at the same time. That wouldn't be a weird thing.
All of this is within the first few chapters. The rest is basically the second half of Prince Harry's Spare/the Oprah/Netflix interviews with him and Meghan. Instead of half-black, our Lucy is half-Latina. Prince Harry, sorry Archie (which is Harry and Meghan's son's name...) is the red-headed spare who takes the throne because his older brother, Andrew, abdicates after a scandal. (Was it flying on an Epstein plane?). Along those lines....even with an abdication, a coronation still won't occur immediately.
I wanted to like this book so much, but I couldn't get past the royal family rip-offs and poor writing.

Suspenseful, delightful, loved every page!! There are so many wonderful things I can say about this book, but it would not do it justice. You just need to read it to see what I mean!! The author kept me enchanted by her imagination and humorous writing with characters that where lovable and witty.

“You are my home. You are my forever. I love you.”
the story ‘her royal highness’ portrays an enticing blend of both romance and humour but there is also some creative unexpected twists in this story. this has a combined plot of a one-night-stand turned into a royal engagement, this story provides a delightful read.
the story’s main character, Lucy, is extremely relatable and such a down to earth character that always puts people before herself. Lucy is trying to find her path again after a scandalous breakup. On the other hand, Prince Arthur who never expected to inherit the title ‘King’ adds plenty of twists into the story such as - being someone willing to receive punishment and sacrifices things for the one he loves.
the book touches on themes of - public perception, small amounts of grief, love and duty. Both Archie and Lucy are trying to work around the challenges of their romantic interests of each other. Overall, this book was super enticing and I really enjoyed the humour and romance, making it a fun royal read. Would totally recommend.

"Her Royal Highness" by AJ Arnault presents an enticing blend of romance, humor, and the unexpected twist of a commoner finding herself suddenly thrust into the world of royalty. With a plot that combines a one-night stand turned royal engagement, this book offers readers a delightful and engaging premise.
The story's protagonist, Lucy Almont, provides a relatable and down-to-earth character who owns a struggling charity and is trying to find her footing after a recent breakup. On the other hand, Prince Arthur, who never expected to inherit the throne, adds depth to the narrative with his transformation from a reluctant royal into someone willing to embrace his responsibilities for the sake of love.
The combination of romance and humor in this story is likely to appeal to fans of the genre. The idea of an American charity owner becoming the Queen Consort of England adds an intriguing layer of fish-out-of-water dynamics and cultural clashes that promise both comedy and drama.
The book also touches on themes of public perception, love, and duty, making it more than just a lighthearted romance. As Archie and Lucy navigate the challenges of their newfound royal status and try to convince the world that their love is genuine, readers may find themselves rooting for their relationship.
Overall, "Her Royal Highness" seems like a charming and engaging romantic story that combines the allure of royalty with the relatability of ordinary life. With the potential for humor, drama, and heartfelt moments, it appears to be a promising read for those who enjoy contemporary romance novels with a royal twist.
