This is such a cute book! Its great for a classroom. It has great flow, and of course they love the rhymes and the repetitiveness so they can sing along. This book has a great message along with lots of differenty types of children shown, which I always love for my classrooms. Thank you NetGalley for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review!

Colorful illustrations bring to life the TikTok hit from a music teacher about having a bad hair day. One hilarious comparison after another makes this a great story for kids - and their caregivers! In the end, there's nothing like embracing your bad hair days! Share it with the music for extra laughs. (my kiddos loved it)

The kid in this book wakes up with a WAY bad hair day. There are good similes and metaphors and descriptions of how bad it looks and then when they get to school, they realize it is picture day! What a cute story and it has wonderful evidence of a variety of cultures.

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and all opinions expressed are entirely my own.

This is an adventure filled , relatable and funny story about a bad hair during picture day. I absolutely enjoyed this story and I think the author did a wonderful job with the illustrations, the rhymes. The book belongs in schools , bedrooms and to be read everywhere.

Well, this must go down as a first – the first time I have reviewed something inspired by some ticktock video. And hopefully it might be the last, too. I mean what is the actual chicken doing here, beyond providing the impetus or idea for the climactic scene? Why does the rhyming manage to be so good all the time, apart from one page? And could the visuals for such books actually get more inclusive than these? Probably not, is the answer to that one, and as for the other questions I'm sorry I made you think I actually cared. This is fun on a very meh scale – a lively and harmless enough rhyme about having a bad hair day, put into song lyric form so characters are forced to join in with the chorus, and one where I'm sure kids will enjoy it and their attendant adults will hate it from the second play-through. And no I won't be selling my soul to the Chinese just to hear the track to confirm my suspicions there, either, thanks. Two and a half stars.

Bad Hair Day by John Phillips is a quirky and goofy book about a child having a bad hair day on picture day. It includes a viral TikTok song to sing along with and have fun. The illustrations are amazing, and the story is easy to follow along with, having repetition as well.

I like picture books that feature characters coming to accept all of their uniqueness, whether it's their size, skin, or hair. I chose this book expecting it to be about accepting your hair. This book is not about any of that! The character wakes up with wild hair and spends the morning signing about his efforts to tame it. It's cute and catchy and might have you signing along. It also might help a self-conscious child laugh rather than worry about the inevitable "Bad Hair Day."

I read this with my baby sister and she loved it. It's good to let kids know they can have a bad hair day. This is my third picture book and I am falling in love with the idea of making small kids happy.

This is an illustrated picture book with cute artwork and characters of the TikTok song Bad Hair. If you really love the song you'll enjoy the book. If you don't know the song then you can listen to it (the book has a QR code at the back) and it's a silly fun song.
Also, the book has a great ending embracing creativity and diversity.
Thank you Netgalley and publisher for this e-arc.

While my kids were not familiar with the internet sensation of this song, they still LOVED everything about “Bad Hair Day”.

From the illustrations to the picture, it was a non-stop laugh out loud for my elementary school kids - lots of fun to read togeher.

Bad Hair Day by John Phillips is an uproarious and captivating picture book. The delightful illustrations by Jennifer Jamieson breathe life into the story, sparking the imagination. This book draws its inspiration from a TikTok song, written by Philips, a whopping two decades ago!

While the TikTok-inspired song repeats throughout the story, it doesn't significantly advance the plot. Nevertheless, its catchy nature added to the book's charm, even for someone like me who wasn't initially aware of its TikTok popularity.
The resolution left a lot to be desired, and I found the song's grammar quirks a tad irksome. However, I'm sure it won't bother young readers. They will definitely enjoy the entertainment it provides.

Bad Hair Day has the magical ability to turn the gloomiest of days into a joyful adventure!

I received an ARC from NetGalley, and this review reflects my candid and voluntary opinion.

I liked the use of repetition in this book but I thought there might be a happy ending, some kind of resolution, but it never came!

Easy to read and repetitive for young children to follow. Appreciated the representation in the illustrations. Would have preferred some kind of resolution or clearer ending but am sure this will be enjoyed by young children.

I found this book to be great! It certainly stands out from the crowd with having the repeated Tik Tok song throughout, which I loved! I can’t wait to be able to share the book with my class who I know will go crazy for it too. I enjoyed the short rhyming phrases within the book which will make it accessible to all children. The illustrations throughout the book are brilliant too, I particularly love the cheeky chicken!
