💻Loved the plot & principal characters!😊🎬🎥

Emma, Charlie and Cuthbert: I loved them all. Texan Emma's adventure as a screenwriter in Hollywood was warm, touching, occasionally humorous, and had me totally committed to a happy ending for Emma that could rival the HEAs of her most treasured romantic comedy movies. And the way she works her belief-in-love magic with her cynical screenwriter idol: a real treat.

This is a novel with both sadness and joy, particularly in Emma's family history and her constant fears for her disabled father. Her family tragedy ten years earlier has directed her path ever since and kept her focused on service to others, putting her needs aside. Yet here she gets the chance to grab for her own dream of crafting a successful screenplay and, with an award-winning writer no less.

The author had me totally involved in the romance and the couple's journey, particularly Emma's reactions to life in Hollywood, mountain lions, guinea pigs and all! Family conflicts and health problems can't fend off a happy ending. I can't say enough good things about my reaction to the writing, the characters and the plot.

A sweetly yet comical romance! I enjoyed this read. I believe the poolside scenes were my favorite. This story has wit, grit, an a little clean love/hate relations. I love the fact that this story can draw you in & make you root for the couple without overuse of foul language or smut. Katherine Center does a fantastic job with this concept which is why she will stay a go-to author of mine.

Three and a half stars from me

I am a Katherine Center fan and was really excited to read this one. The premise was exciting and I eagerly started in in it. Ultimately, I struggled withthe believability of them ending up together.

They say never meet your idols, and in this story it holds true. Emma is constantly out down by Charlie , who was pretty much a jerk through most of it, leaning in and then pulling back. Emma stands her ground but it's hard to tell if the love she has is because if his fame or him. It was an enjoyable book and I liked it overall, just not my favorite from the author.

A Katherine Center romance is always going to be cozy and cliché. And there’s nothing wrong with that. There’s so much care put into her stories. This one is a great slow burn with characters I genuinely cared about.

Also, calling it now, before the book is even published — this would be a great romcom movie. Just saying!

I did not like this book, which obviously is the minority based on Goodreads. Things I did not like were:
1) the main character Emma - she was aggressively annoying, so stupid (the whole "problem" was not even a problem, Emma was just dumb), the plot line where she takes care of her dad wasn't "sweet" she just came across as trying to be a martyr. And she was just mean - especially towards her sister.
2) the male main character Charlie - he was also annoying, I could see his "problem" coming and being solved before the book even finished, he was also not very nice and the way he was described didn't really lend itself to being a romantic man crush,
3) the plot lines were so dumb and cringy - I absolutely hated the swan dive scene among others.

Anyway, I gave this book two stars because I did finish it but I think I am going to take a break from Katherine Center books for a while. The only book I've actually liked in her repertoire is The Bodyguard, so one out of the many she has written, doesn't really bode well for me.

Just a delightful and funny book that will make you swoon. Two protagonists, one an award winning screenwriter who at the present is floundering and the other, a fledging author, excited and optimistic about love and romance. Both have the same agent who managed to arrange for them to work together on a new screenplay for the mistress of a big shot TV producer. Emma is brought in to help "fix" the script that Charlie has written which is awful. Charlie is very much a curmudgeon who resents having to work with a newbie and is the scrooge of believing in love. While Emma takes it upon herself to teach Charlie about the power of love, if it doesn't kill her first. It turns out that they really need each other to write the perfect rom-com story. As with any story by Katherine Center, this is a delightful story that makes you feel good. You will fall in love with the byplay between he characters and just root for them in the end. A lovely love story and perfect for this summer for the beach or just to curl up in a chair and read. Just in time for summer, Katherine Center's newest rom-com, called the "The Rom-Commers," is an adorable, light-hearted story about love found when you least expect it. Emma and Charlie are adorable. This book was a refreshing break from some of the more spicy titles I have been reading lately. Perfect for someone looking for a love story with heart, a good plot and chemistry without too much heat.

I can always rely on Katherine Center for a good read. I ended up liking this story more than I thought I would. Hollywood characters are hit or miss for me, but I found the famous Charlie the screenwriter as well as Emma like-able.
The story line flowed and kept me engaged, it was a great kick off to summer reading!

I have been a fan of Rom-Coms for a few years. But, they have to be good. I don't want all fluff, I want some substance too. But I want it to be an easy read. And, with humor. Not too fussy, am I? But, I only read a few a year, so when I do, I want it to fit all my requirements. Abby Jimenez and Katherine Center are two authors who fall into my parameters.

I was excited to find this Rom-Com about 2 screenplay writers writing a Rom-Com. Overkill? No, I don't think so.

This quote is taken directly from the book to explain the concept:
“A rom-com should give you a swoony, hopeful, delicious, rising feeling of anticipation as you look forward to the moment when the two leads who are clearly mad for each other finally overcome all their obstacles, both internal and external, and get together.
If you’re surprised by the ending, somebody wasn’t doing their job. We all know where it’s headed. The fun is how we get there.” And, there you have it, this is exactly what this book is about.

Our principal cast consists of Charlie, an established, award-winning screenwriter and Emma, a budding but talented screenwriter to be. Of course, they start on the wrong foot but they quickly right themselves. And, then they're on the wrong foot. And then they fall to the ground. And then they right themselves. They are collaborating on a screenplay that Charlie wrote but it needs major tweaking.

I love Emma's character. She's funny, she's flippant, she's self-deprecating, she's insecure and she's carrying old guilt. In other words, she’s quite human. Charlie is an enigma throughout most of the book. He's hard to figure out but he has a good heart. His true character comes through piece by piece by the end of the book.

Lots of drama, lots of emotion, lots of humour. There is the required amount of substance that I require. Not a lot, but enough. All about acceptance. All about love and life.

Predictably, there was a great ending, I might have shed a tear or two. This truly is a love story. Not necessarily a romance, but a true love story. Definitely, ALL THE STARS! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Fans of Emily Henry will absolutely love The Rom-Commers by Katherine Center.

This book gave me all the feels that a warm and fuzzy and great romcom book should. Emma is a screenwriter that has the chance to write a script with famous screenwriter, Charlie Yates which is a big deal! This is a love story that celebrates the idea of romance with two screenwriters who fall in love writing a screenplay of two screenwriters falling in love while writing a script. This book and relationship was so beautiful. Katherine Center is an amazing author I cannot wait to read more of.

This book is a love letter to the romantics, the writers, the girls that year for their own happy ending and it will have you in a puddle of tears but with hope and love. I loved their dynamic because Charlie and Emma couldn't be more different. He doesn't believe in love, yet she's made a career out of it. It's the typical hopeless romantic meets cynical and they fall hard. I could absolutely see this book being made into film. it is the perfect summer romcom and a must read!

I stopped reading after the second use of "Wah-la!" instead of voila.

Katherine Center is an auto-read author for me and this one did not disappoint. Great banter and everything I love about rom-coms.

I absolutely loved this book! Such a fun read and heartwarming story. I found myself laughing out loud at times. Katherine Center is one of my favorite "palate cleansing" authors that I mix in between thrillers and this one did not disappoint! Emma Wheeler, a writer, has put her life on hold to take care of her dad. When an opportunity arises to help re-write a screenplay, she is thrown into work with a famous screenwriter, her most favorite screenwriter. If Katherine center has no fans, I am on a different planet. This hands down might be her best book ever, I was so invested within the first fifty pages. Emma and Charlie are tricked into becoming writing partners to re-write his terrible rom com screen play. Emma loves all things romance and Charlie is a cynic about all things love. The banter and movie moments just make this book so wonderful and fun. It’s definitely a top read for the year!!

If you want a binge bele read that will make you giggle and melt your heart this is it. The emotions were so palpable; I laughed, cried and swooned my way through this book. The dialogue is perfection. The characters flaws and challenges feel real. The message of hope, happiness, and gratitude will definitely stick with me. I got to the last page and immediately wanted to go back to the first to read it all over again. Now I have to try and patiently wait for this to be made into the rom com blockbuster it should be.

I absolutely adored this book! It's the perfect rom-com and will be a huge hit this summer! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Emma is a screenwriter and while she has dreams of her own to author her own work, she’s been ghost writing and has the unique opportunity to work alongside a prolific screenwriter of the day, Charlie Yates. Their energy is captivating and their bantering is both hilarious and realistic. This unlikely duo has challenges to overcome and a screenplay to finish. The Rom-commers is a delightful read!

This was so much more than I expected, but also, I wouldn’t expect anything less from Katherine Center!!! While there were serious topics discussed, it was done in a very tasteful way. The story was so engaging and I fell in love with the characters and the family that they created!

Katherine Center does is again!! After reading The Bodyguard last year I was thrilled to receive an arc of The Rom-Commers. I think at this point it's safe to say Center is an auto-buy author for me!! This book was so much fun. It was sweet, funny, heartwarming, raw, and simply lovely. Don't get me wrong I love books with spice but sometimes a (relatively) closed door romance hits just right!!! Emma and Charlie are absolutely now one of my favourite book couples. I simply loved their story. The depth of the characters and the "grumpy-sunshine" dynamic was done so incredibly well. I truly felt such deep compassion for both Emma and Charlie and reading their journey towards each other was such a treat. This is going to be the romance of the summer!! Do yourself a favour and pick this one up when it comes out!

I wish I could give this book 10 stars. This fantastic novel made me literally laugh out loud over and over and at times made me cry. This was my first Katherine Center book but after two chapters I could tell I was in love. The writing is smart and witty and really draws you in to these fantastic characters. This book is a MUST read.
