Katherine never lets us down! This is a love story for people who love love stories. A hopeful screenwriter (Emma) with some trauma in her past lands a job with her favorite screenwriter (Charlie) who happens to be a total catch… BUT he doesn’t actually want her help. Emma is determined to make it work, and Charlie is determined to not let her in. Did I mention they’re living the same house?
This has some tropes I totally love - grumpy/sunshine, forced proximity, and he doesn’t believe in love (a micro trope but for sure one I can’t get enough of). The way Charlie and Emma fall for each other, hurt each other, and then fix it later is so precious, and Emma has the BEST family so I enjoyed that so much, too!
All in all, another instant classic by a beloved author. Highly recommend

What can I say, but this is one of the best romance novels I’ve ever read and Katherine Center just keeps getting better and better with each book she writes! Oh, and Emma and Charlie are great characters!

This book ended up being a slow burn with all buildup and little reward to the actual romance. They got together and then it was the end of the book. Having these two flirt for 300 pages with no actual relationship except a quick run through at the end of what the future held was unsatisfying

Oh, Charlie Yates… my favorite book boyfriend in recent memory. Lovely message about gratitude and not taking anything for granted. Heavy on witty banter, light on spice. Fans of The Bodyguard will recognize the cameos by Jack and Hannah. My favorite secondary character is Emma’s disabled father, a study in the juxtaposition of joy and sadness. Pick this one up for an uplifting vacation read this summer.
Tropes: forced proximity, hate to love, grump/sunshine
Thank you to Net Galley and St. Martin’s Press for this complimentary ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Katherine Center is an "auto-read" for me and so I was ecstatic to get to read an ARC of The Romcommers. It didn't disappoint – while not my all-time favorite of Katherine's novels, her quippy, quirky dialogue and laugh-out-loud, still-believable budding romance exhibited in the Romcommers was exactly what I expected (and needed).

♾️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
All the stars! All of them!!! This is my favorite book of 2024!!! Words will not be able to describe how much I LOVED this book!! An absolutely phenomenal read!
Emma comes to LA to help the famous writer Charlie Yates, fix his terrible rom com screenplay. Charlie could care less about it, but in order to make his next must see mafia movie, the romcom needs to be finished. This is Emma’s chance to fulfill her dreams as a writer and she takes it very seriously. Their relationship grows as they work together making this book the cutest story ever!!
Emma and Charlie are so loveable. You just want to hug them. This book made my heart so happy. The story couldn’t be any sweeter! This book would be a great movie! Katherine Center has done it again with a must read! She is 100% an auto buy author for me!!

Thank you to NetGalley, Katherine Center, and St.Martin’s Press for this ARC!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
*Reviewed on NetGalley, Amazon, and Goodreads.

I loved this book! Katherine Center is becoming one of my must-read authors, so I was so excited when I was approved for this ARC! The Rom Commers was such a joy to read. I was rooting for the female main character, Emma, from start to finish and some parts actually had me laughing out loud (and cringing from secondhand embarrassment on her behalf!) I didn't love some of the more serious storylines but I guess they were necessary to balance everything out. Overall I definitely recommend this book!
Thank you Netgalley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Katherine Center is a relatively new author to me but I have loved every book of hers that I've read! The Rom-Commers was no different. I read this book in less than a day! This book gave me all the feels - joy, sorrow, hope, and the perfect rom-com HEA. The characters come to life thanks to Center's descriptive writing and fun dialogue. I do wish that she had gone more in-depth into both Emma and Charlie's struggles with anxiety. I also wish that this was dual-POV instead of just Emma's. All in all though, it's a satisfying addition to my rom-com collection. 4.5 stars! Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the arc.

The Rom-Commers is just what you'd expect it to be in all of its Katherine Center-ness; funny, heartfelt, and a little bit troublesome with its third-act conflict. But everything works out in the end and you learn that you don't hate the male main character as much as you thought you did. You actually love him. With that being said, I reached a point in my reading where I questioned if I was reading a depressing women's fiction novel or a rom-com, and I loved it. It was the perfect balance between the two.
I do not think I'll be thinking about Emma and Charlie like I think about Sadie Montgomery and her man of choice, so 4 stars for that. But such a solid read and a romance book that I would recommend to my dearest friends! :)

Thank you Netgalley & St Martin's Press for providing me an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review!
Katherine Center is an automatic read author for me. Her books make me laugh and "awww" all throughout. However, it pains me to say this, I could not get into this book, I tried really hard to finish it but I just couldn't.

Thank you Netgalley & St Martin's Press for providing me an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review!
Katherine Center is an auto buy author for me. She writes books that simultaneously make you laugh and make you feel. The Rom-Commers is the perfect example of this and may be her best work yet.
Read this book if you like:
-grumpy x sunshine
-one liners
-LOL funny
-pet guinea pig
-forced proximity

Katherine Center's books are like a warm hug to me. This book is no different! I just loved it!
Initially I didn't really feel the chemistry between the characters but I was definitely rooting for them by the end!

It really pains me to say this... but I wonder if KC has lost her mojo! She seems to have stepped so far from the books of hers that I love HFB, HTWA, TYLIAF.
I loved the premise of this book, sounded super cute and I had high hopes (which honestly, after her last book, I probably should have lowered my expectations) but sadly I was so disappointed! I'm still mad about it weeks later.
Our FMC reminds me of a weak cup of tea, and our MMC is so mean to her - I have no idea why she stuck around. She just happened to overhear so many conversations, all of which he was saying mean things about her. And after hearing it she was always like "thats it I'm leaving" but always stayed. Where was the love story, where was the redemption arc for either of them? Where were characters I was supposed to fall in love with... I'm not even sure if any of the side characters were likable either - they just empowered a toxic man to continue to be cruel (to her face and behind her back) and not one person told her that she deserved better!
I'm probably no longer going to one click this author... which brakes my heart a little bit!

I don't know how Katherine Center does it, but the last few books I've read has the uncanny ability to make me cry.
I loved Emma so much. While I can't identify with her struggle completely. I can so understand how she feels the weight of the world on her shoulders. And how she has this need to make sure her family is taken care of, while putting her dreams on hold.
Her banter with Charlie. The way Charlie does things in his own way to show Emma how he feels about her. The way she's oblivious. UGH. Just so good. I loved this book so much.
It was also great to see some cameos in this book!
If you're a fan of Katherine Center, you're going to love this book so much. Highly recommend!!!!!

A thoroughly enjoyable reading experience for anyone who loves movies, writing and romance! The dialogue is witty and fast, the romance is a slow burn, and there is emotionally relevant insight and personal growth within the main characters. I especially appreciated the wisdom about relationships and marriage towards the end.
Thanks to Netgally, the author and publisher for an advanced reading copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I was originally so excited to read this book. I've read many of Katherine Center's other books and loved them, and I hoped this would be the same. However, it just never stuck with me the same way her previous books have. I don't know what it was- I loved the dad, I was amused by Cuthbert, but the main characters just didn't do it for me. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC.

The ROM-commers is a fun, easy to read romance with deeper topics affecting both characters. Emma wheeler is a promising screenwriter who has been stalled by a tragic accident that leaves her as a caregiver who puts her life on hold for family. An old friend gives her an opportunity of a lifetime to work with a famous screenwriter in Hollywood. The relationship develops from enemies to friends to lovers in a slow burn with deep storylines throughout. While entertaining, the writing seems simple and basic. I did not feel as invested in the characters as i hoped. I did love the ending of this book and the deeper issues that the characters were dealing with in their lives. Thank you net galley for the opportunity to read this book!!

A Rom com about writing a rom com-what an original concept! This book had it all for me. Emma has given up her life to care for her Dad. She desperately wants to write a romantic comedy screenplay. Her dreams come true when she is hired to work with her idol who has no desire to write a successful love story. She guides him through the process and all the elements of a rom com fall into place.
I enjoyed this book and recommend it especially to those who do not go for usually go for the rom com genre.
Thank you to NetGalley and St Martins Press for sending me an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book had me from start to finish. Love, loss and struggling to fully live after life happens to them both. Two screenwriters and one romcom. I balled my eyes out finishing this book late last night. Katherine Center has done it again but better!!!

Katherine Center is the queen of writing rom coms that not only make you smile and laugh, but also remind you of the beauty of life, and in the Rom Commers she has once again blown it out of the water.
In this story two screenwriters have to team up to write a rom com. Emma is an expert in the genre, but had to give up her career to take care of her father after a terrible accident after graduation. Charlie is wildly successful at writing other genres, but is terrible at romance. While Emma helps Charlie fix his terribly written script she is also determined to help him believe in love and happy endings again.
Normally I do not like books where the main characters are writers. I have read too many stories where the main character “suddenly can’t write happy endings anymore” and it usually feels cheesy and unrealistic. This story was not like that at all. I absolutely loved Emma, and her defense of the romance genre (and love in general) was so smart. I’m convinced you could get anyone to become a fan of romcoms just by reading this book. I am also not usually a highlighter or note taker while I read but I found myself highlighting so many quotes in this book. It was honestly inspirational when dealing with the topics of grief, marriage, and how to live a happy life in the face of difficulties.
Only Katherine Center could take a plot filled with heavy topics and make you smile, laugh, and feel inspired throughout the whole thing. This one was another win for me from her!
