Katherine Center’s new novel The Rom-Commers has everything a Rom-Com should have mainly because it is about writing a Rom-Com. (How many times can I write Rom-Com in one review?) Emma Wheeler hasn’t had an easy life so far. Her inspiring dream of becoming a screenwriter and writing Rom-Coms is put on hold after a tragic accident that resulted in the death of her mother and the partial paralysis of her father. Emma becomes sole 24/7 caregiver of her father and only writes an odd job here and there with the help of her high school ex-boyfriend turned Hollywood Agent.
But as luck and Rom-Coms will have it, Emma is offered the job of a lifetime. Writing a Rom-Com with her writing hero Charles Yates. First, she has to convince Charles that there is an art to writing romance and maybe that love does exist.
This was such a fun book to read. It had all of the typical romance characteristics but also was told in a unique style. I loved both characters and found myself smiling and laughing along with their antics. Solid 4 stars. I highly recommend this book -perfect beach read with summer right around the corner.
I want to thank NetGalley for allowing me the opportunity to read an advanced copy and give my opinion in this review.

"I would write a hundred happy endings for us if I could."
First! Thanks Netgalley & Katherine Center for the chance to read this before publication 💕
I find it really hard to take the romance genre seriously, but I absolutely fell in love with this one! I laughed out loud, openly cried sitting next to strangers on a plane (what is it about altitude that makes everything seem more emotional than it needs to be?), and genuinely enjoyed the banter between the characters.
The tropes were tropey (enemies to coworkers to friends to lovers?)
The lines were cheesey
The ending was (somewhat) predictable, but as the protagonist said on the topic of rom-coms... "If you're surprised by the ending, somebody wasn't doing their job. We all know where it's headed, the fun is how we get there." And this book was definitely fun.

In "The Rom-Commers" by Katherine Center, readers are treated to a delightful romantic tale. This novel follows the lives of two gifted screenplay writers, Charlie and Emma, whose professional ambitions collide with their unexpected journey into love.
What unfolds is a rollercoaster of emotions as Charlie and Emma seem to take steps forward and then right back again.
The chemistry between Charlie and Emma is palpable, their exchanges brimming with humor, intellect, and undeniable charm. Their relationship blossoms gradually, mirroring the nuanced development of a well-crafted screenplay. I love their interactions and witty banter and was rooting for them the entire book.

Emma has been taking care of her father and her sister for the past 10 years, forgoing her own pleasures and writing job opportunities to take care of them. Now her old boyfriend/writing agent has offered her a dream opportunity to write with her celebrity crush screenwriter Charley Yates, but she has to move across the country for 6 weeks to do it. When her sister steps up to make that work, Emma finds that the job is not what it seems.
Charley and Emma are grumpy and sunshine. Charlie writes action films and doesn't believe in love, while Emma is an expert in all things Rom Com. The banter and chemistry between Emma and Charley is delightful while they try to repair his terrible rom com script and their antics at activities such as line dancing are lots of fun. I found myself missing some of Centers wonderful side characters in this one however. Emma's father and sister are great but we don't see much of them, and we do get a cameo appearance from Jack Stapleton from the Bodyguard, but that is what kept me from rating this one as high as I do most of her other books. Katherine Center is an auto buy author for me and I enjoyed this one, it just wasn't one of my favorites from her wonderful cannon of stories.
Thank you to the publisher and net galley for this e galley in return for an unbiased review.

I absolutely loved this story! This will be the romcom I'll be recommending this summer. It was just delightful. The romance was beautiful, and as usual with Center's novels, I appreciated the depth woven in with the fun. I especially appreciated the disability rep.
Highly, highly recommended! Add to the top of your summer reading list!

Every time I read a Katherine Center book I remember why I love romance novels so much. She is the best writer of her genre. The Rom-Commers is a work of art! I fell in love with the characters, their growth and relationship! I loved how we learned about what makes a good romance through their writing process, then got to experience it through the story. I laughed, I cried, my heart filled up with warm happy feelings. Chefs kiss!

💖 What’s it about?
Emma has given up her screenwriting dreams to care for her father, who was seriously injured in a hiking accident and needs full time care. But when her friend Logan secures her the opportunity of a lifetime—to ghost write a romcom for the famous screenwriter of her dreams in L.A. for six weeks—her sister won’t let her say no.
Emma flies to L.A. with stars in her eyes—only to learn that the opportunity is not at all what it seems. Screenwriter Charlie wants nothing to do with Emma or love, but they come to an agreement to try and make it work.
Soon the two lonely writers come to a comfortable living arrangement, and their pull to each other is undeniable.
💖 My thoughts:
Katherine! This book is amazing. I laughed out loud the whole time. Not only is this book a beautiful story about what love means in all of its forms (family, caretaking, romance), but it’s the perfect ode to romance movies and books.
And also, did I mention it’s hilarious?
So many small quirks made me guffaw. And the line-dancing chapter alone was enough to bring tears of laughter to my eyes.
I just loved this book so, so much and can’t wait to add a hard copy to my shelves!

The Rom-Commers, by Katherine Center, is an emotional romp through the love story of two screenwriters as they work on a screenplay to remember. This book, meant to be a rom-com, touched me in so many ways. When failing screenwriter, Emma, is paired with the enigmatic and famous Charlie Yates, what else could happen but magic — on and off the page…. Much thanks to NetGalley & St. Martin’s Press for this advanced copy for review.

4.5/5 (rounded up)
I really enjoyed this. This was a slow burn, but the story itself I felt was a good pace, and it held my attention throughout. There were many parts that had me laughing 🤣 and I even cried a little. Highly recommend.

I normally am not a fan of books that are about celebrities/screen plays but I became invested in this RomCom and as always Katherine did not disappoint.

Emma is an aspiring screenwriter who put her dreams on hold to care for her father who was in an accident several years earlier that left him needing 24/7, round the clock care. One day, Emma gets a call from an ex-boyfriend who is a Hollywood agent and he has a gig of a lifetime for her: to cowrite a new romcom with THE Charlie Yates. Charlie is Emma's hero so she decides to pack up everything and move to California for six weeks while leaving her father in her sister's care. When she arrives, she quickly realizes that not only does Charlie not know she is coming or want her there, but also that he has no plans of making this screenplay good. This is simply a stepping stone to get his actual passion project made. Can Emma convince this legendary screenwriter that romantic comedies are worthwhile?
I am not a typical romance reader and it takes a lot for romances to "WOW" me, but this one did. I love that The Rom-Commers isn't a cookie-cutter romance with a main character whose only goal in life is to fall in love. Emma and Charlie have depth to them and the side storylines are engaging and great additions to their story. This book had me crying in the last few chapters and excited to read more from Katherine Center.

Thank you SMPRomance and Netgalley for my gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.
I recommend not reading the last quarter of this in public at an airport like me! I was not expecting the emotional ending!! This is definitely my new favorite Katherine Center book!
Obviously as a romance reader I love romcoms, so I loved how Emma was trying to convince Charlie to believe in love. There were so many great moments between the characters! I’m not sure which scene was my favorite because there were so many.
You will fall in love with these characters right away. This is the perfect summer read, and I can’t wait to see everyone else fall in love with this book!

Thank you to NetGalley and St.Martin’s Press for the eARC! This was such an excellent read, it flowed so well and I was immediately enveloped in the story and connected with Emma as a character.
I loved how quirky Charlie was, albeit frustrating in only a way that someone who is a creative can be, his communication was lacking and in a lot of ways he acted like spoiled man child, but that’s just a cover for his adversity to emotions.
Meanwhile, Emma feels all the feelings and her anxiety was so palpable, almost too real. Needless to say, I identified.
A few story beats felt almost too convenient and some of Emma’s actions perplexed me and made me question her judgment and the concrete development of her character.
I loved the Jack Stapleton cameos! Also, Emma’s dad was a standout character. This story was heartwarming, emotional and an engaging read!

Hi if you need me I’ll be living the good life sipping bubbly on the romance hill with Katherine Center! Forever. She is such a great romance and feel good author. Sooo obviously I loved this one as well. Can’t wait for the rest of the world to enjoy it and will be posting a full review on my page closer to release day.

As an absolute fanatic for romcoms, a book literally called The Rom-Commers about two writers writing a romcom is about as perfect as you can get. Emma and Charlie are ooey-gooey charming, and I genuinely couldn’t stop smiling. Charlie learning to love!! Emma’s crazy antics!! The yearning!! I’m a puddle.
Katherine Center’s new era of romances is killing me in the best way. She is writing books that just make you feel so good. I want ten more right this minute.
A very delightful 5⭐️ Go preorder this one asap!!
Thanks to NetGalley & the publisher for this arc.

I will always love Katherine Center books! This was no different. Two people come together to write a romantic comedy, what could go wrong? Definitely check this one out for a quick and easy love story.

I received this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
If you love K Center, this book is for you. If you've never read her, pick this up and read it! And read the rest of her books. She has great talent with humor and addressing issues at once.

Katherine has done it again! I absolutely devoured this book in one sitting. The characters and banter were top tier I adored it

I love Katherine Center's books. They are so cute, fun, and entertaining & The Rom-Commers was no exception. I enjoyed the banter between Emma and Charlie, and the sweet romance. My only qualm was that Emma and Charlie both had characteristics that I did not like. Charlie was super rude for Emma for no reason many times and Emma had some weird moments with Charlie that gave me the ick. However, it was very well written, as are all of her books, and I will continue to read her books!

Katherine Center's writing and Patti Murin's narration -- is there anything better!? Murin's voice is made for Center’s clever and authentic writing. Thank you, thank you, thank you Katherine Center, NetGalley, and St. Martin’s Press for the arc in exchange for my honest review.
Emma Wheeler has been the caretaker for her father after a tragic accident on a family vacation that happened over ten years ago. She has given up on her dream of being a romance screenwriter, passing up on prestigious internships because she can’t leave her father alone in their Texas apartment. When her childhood best friend (and one-time boyfriend before he came out) Logan, a hollywood agent, calls with an opportunity to ghost write acclaimed screenwriter Charlie Yates’ – and Emma’s personal writing icon – rom com. She initially says no, like she always does. Then she reads the script. And it’s horrible. Extremely bad. Very bad. So, Emma goes to LA. She lives with Charlie as they revamp his screenplay, and to her surprise, they are good together. Really good. Can you see where this is going? Maybe. But if you know Katherine Center, you know you’re getting SO. MUCH. MORE.
It’s so hard for me to sum up my feelings for this book because I have so many layers of love for it. Its a masterclass in romance, in writing, in the ups and downs of life, in surviving tragedy, and in loving despite it all.
Katherine, I’ll be at the top of the romance hill with you. Forever. Five stars from me.
