Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book!
I loved this book. The Rom-Commers is smart, funny, and delightfully self-aware. It’s like watching your favorite romantic comedy while also getting the behind-the-scenes commentary in real time. The fourth wall breaks were perfection. I’m such a sucker for those “this is how you do a romance novel inside a romance novel” moments, and this book nails it.
As someone who’s never written a book (and probably never will), I’m endlessly fascinated by the process of writing. Seeing it woven into the heart of the story made me love it even more. The chemistry, the banter, the tropes, and how they’re lovingly poked at), it all worked for me. It’s meta without being too clever for its own good, and the heart of the story still shines through.

I will read anything that Katherine Center writes. Relatable characters and a story that made me laugh and cry. An easy read with surprising depth of plot.

I’ve never understood the feeling of finishing a book and then immediately wanting to re-read it, until now. I have no negative notes for this book; only glorious, positive ones. I loved everything about this story. Every single detail from the color of Emma’s hair, to Cuthbert, to the Jack Stapleton cameo(s), to the pink sprayed edges, to the swoony dialogue— every detail was perfect. I will cherish Emma’s character forever. I will cherish her and Charlie’s love story forever. I will cherish Katherine Center herself for forever and ever. I am at a loss for words. Brav-freaking-O, Mrs. Center. I am feeling all of the feelings right now— you’re the best.

Katherine Center never disappoints! The Rom-Commers is such a delight to read. The grumpy x sunshine trope is one of my favorites & she nailed it.
I've also come to expect heart & family from her books which you will also get in this story.
I'd recommend any of her books & already can't wait to pick up her next one!

This boook was about Emma A women who took care of her family for a long time. When she has the opportunity to screenwrite with Charlie Yates. The screenwriter she looks up to. SHe doesnt want to give up her duties, however her sister steps in, and off she goes. This story has its ups and downs, its emotional, yet funny. It was a great read.
I was excited for this book to come in when it did. I needed a light read. I enjoyed it for the most part. Some parts were slow. Thank you.NetGallet and St Martins Press for an ARC in return for a honest review..

Emma and Charlie were inSUFFERABLE in their own right but dayum. I really wanted to like Emma because I initially felt bad for her, but halfway through I was just like why are you putting up with this nonsense?? Charlie was giving ~tortured condescending man child with no communication skills~ and his emotionally stunted self made me see red whenever he was rude to Emma because she was an ~unaccomplished~ writer.
Also the random dude bro "Jablowme"? No idea what he added to the plot.
I'm only rounding up because for an author to get me this amped up about a book a few months after I've finished the book is still an accomplishment lol If you're interested in reading a Katherine Center book, please read the bodyguard or literally anything but this.

A very standard Katherine Center book. Maybe not the most inspired but perfectly enjoyable.
In exchange for an honest review, this ARC was provided to me by NetGalley.

Katherine Center is the queen of rom-coms! I will read anything this woman writes. Full of honesty, heart, and laugh out loud moments, The Rom-Commers is one I will come back to time and time again. A rom-com author writing about writing a rom-com was meta and so much fun. I’d recommend this to all lovers of romance!

This NEEDS to be a movie. Warner brothers where are you? A not so classic grumpy-sunshine trope. It was flawlessly written and Center has a way of evoking such emotion between two people in a gorgeous way. This is my second book by her and she is now an auto read author. Gosh I cannot get over this book and I just think it is my favorite romance I’ve read. To feel so intimate with Charlie and Emma but no spice in the book says so much about Center’s writing.

I really enjoyed this story and this author has become one of most to read. I laughed with Emma and Charlie, live with them and their interactions. This is a very good Rom-com that I hope more people will read and enjoy.

Overall, I enjoyed reading "The Rom-Commers". I think the beginning started a little on the slower side; however, once the main characters met the plot quickly picked up. The traumatic lives that the main characters experienced prior to their meet is relatable to all different types of people. Reading about others that have been through traumatic events, but make it to the otherside is powerful.

📚 Review: This was definitely a classic Katherine Center book. It was a romcom that explored a lot of deeper themes like illness and grief, while still being lighthearted. While overall I did really enjoy this book, I found a few things lacking. A lot of the romance in this book was told, rather than shown. A lot of the romance I always look for in these books was off the page and described later. There was also a bit too much miscommunication for me. Unfortunately, I also didn’t love the characters (except Emma’s dad and his partner), which surprised me. I did enjoy the story over all, and the nods to questions in other classes.
Overall - this wasn’t my favourite but I did enjoy it and look forward to her next book!

Synopsis from Amazon: “ Emma Wheeler desperately longs to be a screenwriter. She’s spent her life studying, obsessing over, and writing romantic comedies—good ones! That win contests! But she’s also been the sole caretaker for her kind-hearted dad, who needs full-time care. Now, when she gets a chance to re-write a script for famous screenwriter Charlie Yates—The Charlie Yates! Her personal writing god!—it’s a break too big to pass up.
Emma’s younger sister steps in for caretaking duties, and Emma moves to L.A. for six weeks for the writing gig of a lifetime. But what is it they say? Don’t meet your heroes? Charlie Yates doesn’t want to write with anyone—much less “a failed, nobody screenwriter.” Worse, the romantic comedy he’s written is so terrible it might actually bring on the apocalypse. Plus! He doesn’t even care about the script—it’s just a means to get a different one green-lit. Oh, and he thinks love is an emotional Ponzi scheme.
But Emma’s not going down without a fight. She will stand up for herself, and for rom-coms, and for love itself. She will convince him that love stories matter—even if she has to kiss him senseless to do it. But . . . what if that kiss is accidentally amazing? What if real life turns out to be so much . . . more real than fiction? What if the love story they’re writing breaks all Emma’s rules—and comes true?”
Review:
Absolutely 100% one of my favorite romcoms ever. I was laughing so hard through most of this book and I completely loved loved loved the lighthearted feeling I got throughout. This was one of the funniest romcoms I’ve ever experienced, whether book or movie, and it was so romantic and adorable and I just could not put it down. I ate it up like candy! This was my first Katherine Center book and she has got to be one of my new favorite romance writers. I am recommending this to everyone!! Absolutely adored it!! 5/5 stars!

I really enjoyed this book. It was cute and funny, but it wasn't just full of fluff. It had some heavy life altering moments, too. The characters were all loveable, and I was really rooting for a happily ever after. I recommend for fans of Emily Henry and Christina Lauren.

I really enjoyed this book. It was what I’ve come to expect from Katherine Center — a nice romance that has a bit of depth for the characters. It was predictable, as all romances are. It was a sweet little story and I really enjoyed it!

Emma Wheeler desperately wants to be a screenwriter, especially in the genre of romantic comedy. Her career path has been sidelined for the last ten years, due to a tragic accident that left her father in need of a full time caregiver. Given an opportunity of a lifetime by her old and dear friend, Emma puts her father in the hands of her younger sister and goes to L.A. to re-write a script for the famous screenwriter Charlie Yates. When things do not go according to plan, will Emma be able to make her dreams come true?
Though I am not typically a romance or romantic comedy reader, I always jump at the chance to devour another book by Katherine Center. Her heroines are plucky like Anne Shirley, also strong and determined. In short, they are characters readers will root for and will find endearing. The author's note says it all and I, for one, am glad that Katherine Center gives voice to hope. I always look forward to the next book and, as a result, I definitely recommend The Rom-Commers to other readers.

This story felt ethereal and mundane all at once. The characters felt incredibly real and average to me (even though one of them is famous) but the writing and story as a whole had an otherworldly charm. I really liked Emma. She’s not perfect but she’s loveable. She’s often clueless, but the writing almost makes the reader feel like they’re in on it. Charlie is deeply flawed. He’s a sour patch kid. Sweet and tender and charming most of the time but shockingly cruel and cutting and hateful with no warning. And like….there’s reasons. But not good enough ones. Those moments aside, Charlie was a loveable character. Overall it was an easy and fun read. I read it in a single day. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC to review!

Charming as always! I really enjoyed the complicated family dynamics from both MCs. The premise set this one up for a fun time, too! Overall, THE ROM-COMMERS was an easy, enjoyable read… classic romance.

Ended up loving this book. Wasn’t sure till about 60% through because I was starting to think they weren’t gunna end up together but really enjoyed it after the 60% mark

Emma has ambitions of being bigtime screenwriter but having a father with medical needs that include constant supervision is making it difficult for that dream to become a reality. When Emma receives a call from her ex-boyfriend with a job offer/opportunity she can't say no to - working with Charlie Yates (big name screenwriter and Emma's favorite), her younger sister steps up to help with their dad's care. Emma jets off to Charlie's and he's not cool with having her around... because he doesn't need help and doesn't write with others. But soon enough, they've formed a comfortable and fun friendship. Is it possible for it to blossom into something more?
I have to say, I really enjoy Katherine Center's books and writing. The banter and the characters are always great. I felt like something was missing in this one for me and I wish I could pinpoint what it is. I think I just didn't feel the chemistry between Charlie and Emma as much as I wanted to. They were both great characters and I truly enjoyed getting to know them, but something about the dynamic was off for me.
If you like the rom-coms/romance genre, give this one a try!
