I've never meet a a Katherine Center book that I didn't like I know that they are going to keep me laughing from page one until the end. That being said that while I loved The Rom-Commer's it wasn't a favorite. While I loved the heroine and liked the hero and loved the banter the ended felt a little rushed. And the sister's relationship was hard to read at times. I this one was the one book of hers that hit a little to close to home for my likening, in the sense that Emma's family looked a little to like my own even down to what Emma's sister said to her towards the end of the book. However, it was still an enjoyable book and I'm glad I read it. I just don't think it would be a reread. But I'm still looking forward to Emma's next book.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher through netgalley. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.

This was my favorite book of the month. Thank you so much for the early release. I loved it and need it for my shelves now. (And all other books by this author)

This wasn't my favorite Katherine Center book, but I still enjoyed it a lot. The main characters were cute and their relationship was fun. I will continue to read books by this author.

Another absolute hit by Katherine Center! She could write a new adaptation of the phone book and I would eat it up… Thank you Katherine and NetGalley for the chance to arc read this fabulous novel!

I loved this book! It was a different spin on a traditional rom-com and it is one of my favorites of the year that I have read. I am always thrilled with Katherine Center comes out with a new book.

Thank you for the opportunity to read this book! I am a huge fan of Katherine Centers book and this one did not disappoint. Loved how well all of the characters were developed and the banter between the main characters. As in all of her books, she did a great job expressing the relationships and emotional connections between characters. Thanks again!

My new favorite Katherine Center book! Couldn’t put it down even though it was midnight :) Already looking forward to the next one.

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press got the ARC copy of this book.
I have to say I really enjoyed this Romantic Comedy. It was full of fun, lots of laugh, and a beautiful love story. Both of the main characters were so easy to love, making it incredibly difficult to put down. This story touches on tough topics/situations that are very real. It made the story that much easier to love. I feel like this is a love story that fits any season. This story makes me eager to read other works by this author. Pick up this story. You will not regret it!

Let me start off by saying that this review is not typical for my reviews on Katherine Center books. For some reason, the rom commers just didn't do it for me. The trauma drama and unlikeable characters were too much for me. I wanted a fun, light summer rom-com read, but I felt this one was too in your face drama and honest meanness going on.

This missed the mark for me and it absolutely pains me to say it. I LOVE Katherine Center! She is an auto buy author for me! So not liking this book was so disappointing for me. Especially when just about EVERYONE has been ranting and raving nonstop about it since it came out. I finished this before pub day and it’s taken me this long to figure out the words to say to describe my disappointment. I did not like the characters. Neither Emma nor Charlie. ESPECIALLY Charlie Yates! Definitely one of the worst MMC’s I’ve ever read. Ugh I couldn’t stand him! He was such a D*#k! Emma? If she was a good character then that would have made up a little bit from what this book lost from Charlie, but she was horrible too. I would have thrown hands if my sister talked to me like she did! Damn sure not apologize to her! Like wtf!? I really don’t have much else to say. I will definitely but Center’s next book but I did not buy this one. Even with the pink sprayed edges, it was a hard no.
I received an advanced reader’s copy of this book from NetGalley. This review is honest, unbiased and completely my own.

Emma wants to be a successful screenwriter, she dabbles here and there with writing contests and rom-coms. She also has put that dream on the back burner, thanks to being the sole caretaker for her father. Allowing her sister to attend college and pursue her dreams. Until, one day her agent calls and tells her that her favorite screenwriter has stepped out of his usual genre and written a rom-com that needs a rewrite (and she was the first choice to assist), she has to consider if she wants to finally try to make her dreams come true. Well, things aren't always as they seem, and they say you shouldn't meet your heroes for a reason. It's a story about love, learning and personal growth. I really enjoyed it.

Charlie a screenwriter who is forced to write a rom-com before his next thriller can be made. Emma is an aspiring screenwriter, who is brought it to help Charlie fix his screenplay. And as one can imagine, he is not happy about this.
I enjoyed this story but there were times I didn’t like how Charlie treated Emma. Their relationship starts off rough but as they work together and get to know each other better, the sparks start to fly. There are some heavier topics in this story. Emma is the primary caregiver to her dad and her family is grieving the loss of her mother. Read this if you enjoy:
🩷 Enemies to Lovers
🩷 Grumpy x Sunshine
🩷 Forced Proximity
🩷 Closed Door Romance

DNF at 23%. Usually I love Katherine Center’s books, but oof I couldn’t do this one.
I didn’t like the FMC’s martyr mindset with her family and then her being a big fangirl of the MMC made me uncomfortable before they even met. Then they meet and the MMC was rude and unlikeable even though the FMC continues to fangirl.
I was officially done with the book when the FMC was explaining to the MMC what makes a great rom-com - I had realized by that point I didn’t find the book romantic or comedic yet, and I knew I wouldn’t care about the development of these two character’s ‘romance’.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC!

Katherine Center is an automatic yes for me. I will always add her books to my tbr.
This book showed what its like putting other people before your own dreams. In this occasion she is actually the sole taker for her dad who needs full time care, her dreams had to be put on hold for a while. Which a lot can relate I know I do. Through out the book she gets the chance to re=write a script for a. famous screen writer Charlie Yates (the screenwriter that she has always obsessed over).
Charlie Yates has no idea how to write rom-coms (atleast good ones) which is why Emma is need in this situaition. Through out the process they fall in love with one another which its kind of hard to rap my head around becayse Charlie Yates is so mean and never really apoligized . The beginning of the book was really good just felt the end fell alittle apart in my opnion. The thing that brought the book together at the end what the Authors note. I did loved that.

This was so wholesome i cry 😭 no seriously i cried
5⭐️- after the let down of Hello Strangers (for me), I wasn't sure how this one was going to be... but THE ROM-COMMERS was a HIT! If you've read a KC book, you know she writes such unique characters with HEART, GRIT, COMPASSION - and sometimes you also have to suspend belief a bit to really immerse yourself in the story.
From the get-go, I knew I was going to like Emma and Charlie, and boy did I enjoy their banter and their evolving relationship. They are 2 opposites, yet so similar in so many ways. They help each other through some tough shit, and even laugh a time or two. I really enjoyed the side characters and I was kicking my feet with glee so many times.
Highly reco!

The ROM Commers was my first Katherine Center book and I really enjoyed it! It made me giggle out loud. I read it in a day and a half and will be reading more from Katherine.

Katherine Center delivers again with a phenomenal story and strong case for the romance genre. Her depiction of family as loving but far from perfect is done well here, reminiscent of some of her other works. I think as a caregiver getting to read a MC who is also in that role was meaningful and Center did a good job at capturing the complicated dynamics of the experience in a family and on an individual.

I really liked this book. Much better than the bodyguard book. This book made me want to pick this author up again. The banter/romance was perfect!

Katherine Center is a balm to the soul! Her ability to write humor in a connections where they might butt heads but they are true for each other is so wonderful.

spectacular give me 14 of this. I LOVEEEE. the story did the title (and ofc the genre) justice. it was amusing since the very beginning, even though not all was fun and games.
Emma is an aspiring screenwriter, but no matter how desperate she want that career, she has to take care of her disabled father full time. she doesn't mind, she loves her father. until an opportunity came just when her sister has finished med school. and it's not just any opportunity: it involves Charlie Yates, her ultimate screenwriter idol.
i'm gonna stop the snippet right there because everything after that was starting to get funny you have to read it yourself. in short, I love Emma. I love Charlie. I love their banter and dynamics (they're both SO hilariously gullible it's adorable). Logan was also an interesting side character. and then there's also cameos from Jake Stapleton, THE Jake Stapleton from The Bodyguard!!
the family dynamics were also playing a very important role here, it's so good. the conflict was tense, the conclusion was lovely. Katherine Center hits, yet again!
