Thank you to Net Galley, and publisher, for this ARC.

Katherine Center has always been at the top of my 'TBR", and for good reason! Once again, she's delivered a can't put down, stay up all night, cancel all your plans, kind of read.

This book gets off to a strong start with Center painting a beautiful picture of the Wheeler family in Texas. Emma Wheeler writes rom-com screenplays. She’s never been able to follow her dreams because she’s also the caretaker for her dad who suffered a TBI in an accident that killed her mom ten years ago. When an old boyfriend gets her an opportunity to ghostwrite a screenplay for a famous LA writer, her father and sister make six weeks in LA possible. The screenwriter, Charlie Yates, is initially adverse to working with Emma but after a series of negotiations they reach an agreement. She moves into the guest quarters of his mansion. They set up a daily routine and slowly reveal themselves to each other. They are so endearing that I had to read this in small chunks because I didn’t want it to end. I thank NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the opportunity to read this ARC.

The Rom-Commers did not disappoint!! I loved this book, I loved all the characters, especially Emma’s dad. There was humor, seriousness, tears and romance. I will definitely be recommending this book to all my friends. Now that I read it, I think I’m going to have to get the audio version when it comes out! Release date 6/11/24.
Thanks to NetGalley for an arc of this awesome book!!

I can honestly say that I love Katherine Center even more with each book that she writes. The Rom-Commers is my new favorite of her works, and I can’t even begin to tell you all how much I loved it. I highlighted this ARC up like crazy and fully intend to annotate my physical copy once it gets out.

The relationship between Emma and Charlie was just too good, starting with reluctant allies and ending in romance. I loved the banter and how they just made each other better people. The focus on the domesticity of their relationship—grocery shopping, swimming, and cooking to name a few—was absolutely adorable and were my favorite parts.

Basically, everyone needs to read this book :)

I absolutely loved this book. I loved the characters. I loved their banter. I loved how it wrapped up and ended so nicely, as many rom-coms do! Check this one out if you want a light, fun read that will leave you believing in love! ♥️

Thank you NetGalley for providing an ARC in exchange for my honest review! ✨

I will say that my rating kept shifting from a 3-4 star throughout most of the book, but the ending helped save it. I was very mixed on the whiplash from both characters actions and feelings towards one another and while I suspected what was going on, it was still frustrating to read. Be prepared for tons of miscommunication in this. That being said, I really enjoyed this. It was a quick and fun read to help me through my reading slump. I loved Charlie and the banter between him and Emma. There were great dead pan one liners that had me laughing and smiling. Having read The Bodyguard, the sprinkle of Jack was also a pleasant unexpected surprise. This was one of 2024’s releases that I was most excited about, and it definitely lived up to my expectations! If you loved any of Center’s other books, you’ll definitely enjoy this!

This book was absolutely delightful! The characters were charming, the banter between Emma and Charlie was witty and deserving of a chef's kiss. 🤌🏻 It made me laugh, it made me cry, and when it releases, I will certainly buy!
If this is ever made into a movie, Charlie absolutely should be played by Jason Sudeikis.
The Rom-Commers now reigns as my #1 favorite Katherine Center novel, and it will undoubtedly be one of my favorite books of this year. It was a gem!
Thank you to St. Martin's Press and to NetGalley for providing an e-ARC of this book in exhange for my honest opinion and review.

This was an absolutely captivating story! I loved the banter, the ever-honest inner dialogue of the characters, and the tribute to the sometimes quirky, unexpected, and astonishing power of love.

The characters were real & charming, the plot was so much fun and the ending would put any Oscar winning movie to shame!

Well done!

This book had me giggling, swooning, & crying. You know a book is good, when you feel all the emotions. I thoroughly enjoyed Emma and Charlie together. I loved his gruff swagger and her quirky spunk. They had some great playful banter and swoony moments. This book was so well-done and well written! I will definitely be reading some of her other books next! Perfect book for the summer! I love Katherine Center books! I get so excited when she releases a new book, and this one did not disappoint. Emma is so lovable from the beginning. I wanted the best for her because of the tragedies in her life and how much she sacrificed for her dad. I was hoping her charm and personality would win Charlie over. I enjoyed reading about their working relationship and friendship. I love how Katherine Center incorporates characters from other books into her stories, it’s so delightful. I really enjoyed this book and would highly recommend. You will not be disappointed.

Katherine Center is one of the best at a fantastic romantic comedy!

This book is everything you didn’t know you needed. Emma and Charlie have the best chemistry and witty banter. You experience all their highs and lows. This romantic comedy gives you hope, to strip it away, but give that same hope right back to you. Perfect ending. I absolutely cannot say enough good things about this book! I would definitely put this book on your TBR!!

Thank you to NetGalley and St Martins Press for this ARC!

It pains me to think about how this book didn't work for me the way I was hoping it to 😔

My main reason for the lowered rating this go around was the lack of chemistry between our two main characters. It felt sublime enough to categorize them as gradual friends, but to go further and say I could see their love bloom on the page? Sadly I just didn't see it. Maybe if we had different POVs spread throughout the story to give us a different perspective of that person who just didn't convince me they were in love.

If you can see past this tiny annoyance then you are in for a classic Katherine Center book. Charming story telling and cute banter amongst the characters! The Bodyguard is one of my favorite rom coms and I loved the brief cameos were got involving a few previous characters 👀

Thank you NetGalley for a preview of an author I have read and enjoyed in the past. RomCommers tells the story of Emma, a screenwriter looking for a big break but stuck home caring for her ailing father. She gets an opportunity to go to LA and work with her favorite writer, Charlie Yates...but he wants nothing to do with her. Until....and so the story begins. This book was smart, funny, cute and touching. Im not the biggest romance fan generally but this story charmed and surprised me. The characters grow on you. This will be well liked by many!

Thank you Netgalley for the ebook of the Rom-Commers!

This was my first ever ebook (yes you read that right), and what a wonderful first it was ☺️

Emma is a talented writer, who was given a once in a lifetime opportunity in her field. After a devastating accident on a family trip, she gave up her dream to go where she was needed without thinking twice.

The Rom-Commers was an easy fast paced read for me. I enjoy reading about writers and how books shape their world. The concept of researching what was 'romance' in order to write a believable rom-com was a fun concept and executed very well. I also enjoyed the chemistry of these two very different characters and how they brought out the best in each other. A beautiful epilogue and a fun supporting character that is an animal is just icing on the cake.

"whatever story you tell yourself about life, that's the one that'll be true."

I have never given a Katherine Center book less than 4 stars. I can't wait to add a copy of this one to my collection when it releases this summer (with pink sprayed edges included)!

This author continues to deliver such top notch heart-warming romcoms again and again. Even though I am not a fan of celebrity trope, I devoured it in two sittings. Emma, after being her fathers’ caregiver for a decade, gets a chance to work with her favorite Hollywood screenwriter, Charlie and decides to take a chance. This brings to LA where she stays at his house to work bringing on vibes of forced proximity. He is someone who doesn't believe in love but is writing a romcom with her.

Though both fell hard for each other, it was only Emma who would pour her heart out by coming forward and kept getting rejected by him multiple times that I was annoyed by him for a while. I knew we would get to know his reason and it had to be a big one to pacify most readers. I loved their banter and cute yet weird encounters/experiences which help both in their mental health. It was absolutely enjoyable and felt like a warm hug.

This was my first book by Katherine Center, and it will definitely not be my last. I was hooked from the first page and voraciously devoured Emma & Charlie’s story. I was pleasantly surprised how Center effortlessly spun a fun and epic love story but managed to sprinkle in bits of tragedy, hardship, and perseverance. The more somber moments didn’t detract from the levity of the story. They, in fact, made it better; more believable & real. Just two wonderfully flawed characters, trying their best to deal with the tragedies of their past. All while hoping for a better future.

Emma Wheeler is a talented screenwriter. Well, sort of. She was on the path to realizing her screenwriting dreams when a tragic climbing accident left her father partially paralyzed. With a traumatic brain injury to boot. Guilt and a strong sense of responsibility made Emma abandon her prestigious Warner Bros. screenwriting internship to stay in Texas and care for her disabled father 24-7.

Charlie Yates is a screenwriting legend. He can do no wrong and everything he pens is sought-after. That is until he tries to write a romantic comedy and fails. Miserably. I mean it’s bad. Like, "We’re going to need a better word for terrible." bad. He only wrote it because he needed to get one of his other screenplays green-lit. He doesn’t even believe in love. He doesn’t really believe in anything anymore.

Charlie’s agent, Logan, who also just happens to be Emma’s ex-boyfriend from high school, has been throwing Emma work any time he’s able. When The Charlie Yates needs help rewriting his script, Logan jumps at the chance to give Emma the job. She is the best romantic comedy writer he knows, and Charlie Yate’s biggest fan. Two birds, one stone. Except Charlie doesn’t know Emma is coming to help him, and he absolutely does NOT want to write with anyone, especially a nobody like Emma Wheeler. That is until Emma rips Charlie’s script to pieces and impresses the hell out of him, all at the same time.

Charlie and Emma are polar opposites that complement each other perfectly. I love the kick-ass writing team they make, the close bond they form, and the deep love they share. From the way they navigate their working relationship, to the tension-filled "research" that leads to them falling in love, Charlie & Emma kept me laughing, crying, and turning pages at a rapid pace. Their character growth was immense, and their happily ever after was well deserved. Because Emma & Charlie are sheer perfection together. And it’s high time they both managed to be ok and write the very best story of their lives.

Also, more books should have an adorable pet guinea pig named Cuthbert. Just saying.

Thank you, St. Martin's Press for consenting to let me read this arc, Rom-Commers by Katherine Center. I loved the banter between Emma, the wannabe screenwriter who has spent the last 10 years caring for her dad, and her hero, Charles Yates, the award winning renowned screenwriter. Because her specialty is rom-com, Emma gets the chance of a lifetime to work with Charles and rewrite a script he's butchered because romantic comedy isn't his thing. She moves to LA for six weeks, leaving her dad's care in her sister's hands to immerse herself in this project. At the onset, Charles is none too pleased with the idea of writing with a nobody. But lucky for Emma and her perseverance, they do work together, and they work really well together to turn the script around, and she even has Charles believing in love...to a point. Or so we think. This book has all the feels! You'll cheer for Emma, love her quick wit, feel her rejection, ugly cry at times, and laugh out loud along the way. This has all the makings of a great movie!
