Katherine Center does it again with another wonderful rom-com novel. She has increasingly become one of my favorite authors. Her stories bring love, laughter and a breath of fresh air to reading. Her characters are fun and the story plot is always so engaging. Her latest novel, The Rom-Commers introduces the characters of Emma and Charlie, two screenwriters that find themselves together and it takes the reader on quite a ride. The novel is deliciously predictable but very unputdownable! Katherine Center's fans will adore this one.

I really liked the premise and the idea of two writers rewriting the traditional rom-com and going through all the tropes and finding love at the end. Where the book fell flat for me was the character development-both felt rushed through what was supposed to me major life traumas. There was this sense of “I’m not going to tell my trauma” and then “trauma dumping” one second later. And then the third act resolution felt extremely rushed at the end. It felt as if she was trying to hit all the check marks for a rom-com and get the job done.

Ughhh I just finished this book and want to go back to the beginning! This was my first Katherine Center book AND my first NetGalley read. Rom-com movies are some of my favorites, and with all the buzz around this book, I had to check it out.
I enjoyed learning about Emma before we are introduced to Charlie. Getting to know her family throughout left me cheering for them all in the end. Charlie was a little tricky for me to nail at first, but loved figuring out who he truly was underneath it all made me fall for him. Logan I think was the driving force behind it all, the man behind the curtain if you will.
I thoroughly enjoy this read and am conjuring up my dream cast if this were to ever be brought to the screen! I will most certainly be adding more Katherine Center books to my TBR!

For anyone that loves a true rom-com story, this is it. This book is the quintessential rom-com. I love the characters and I love alll the feel good feelings this book brings. You want to devour the whole thing but you never want it to end.

Loved this book. Enjoyed the passion that the female main character had about story writing and movies. Liked that the author explored past difficulties of the main characters, but it wasn’t too heavy. Thought the chemistry between Charlie and Emma was really cute!

2.5⭐️ Not for me.. Charlie’s personality felt bipolar, I didn’t love the setting and it didn’t feel authentic or relatable to me. I did like the concept and parts of it were funny. I just didn’t love several aspects of the story and didn’t feel the connection. The nostril thing weirded me out and I didn’t feel like there was a lot of tension or spark. I didn’t love how carelessly they thought of sex or all the language. I did love The Bodyguard and Hello Stranger though!!

“If you wait for other people to light you up, then I guess you’re at the mercy of darkness.”
I absolutely LOVED this one. I couldn’t put it down. Katherine Center knocked it out of the park.
Emma dreams of making it big in screenwriting. But as the full time caretaker for her dad, she’s had to put her life on hold to support him and her little sister.
An old friend/her agent, Logan, calls with the opportunity of a lifetime and suddenly Emma is in LA living her dream. With her FAVORITE screenwriter, who is a bit of a jerk.
Over time, Emma and Charlie get into a groove of rewriting the most apocalyptically horrid rom-com of all time. Can Emma teach Charlie anything about love, without falling for him in the process? Can Charlie do “just enough” to finish the script, or is he all in?
This book had so many good motivations. Love, loss, moving on, etc. and I am OBSESSED with Emma’s dad.
“I just got up every day, went to bed every night, and tried to be a good person in between.”
10/10. 5000000000 stars. Period.

ALL THE STARS! This was the perfect rom com. I starting reading it while at the salon and it had me giggling in my chair and other times trying to hide my tears. In my opinion, this is a must read!
Thanks to NetGalley for me eARC.

This book made me swoon in the best ways. I got a little nervous towards the end but you just have to trust Katherine Center and the heartache will always be worth it. The parallels to the beginning of the book on what a romcom is and the end of the book were beautifully done.

As someone who doesn't often pick up romance novels, wow, I loved this one! Anything that takes place in Hollywood immediately strikes my interest. Add in the addition of a really cool job, screenwriting, and I knew I had to pick this one up!
I loved uncovering Emma's relationship with her dad and how she cared for him. There was more to the story then it originally seemed on the surface. Sometimes, I find characters similar to her as seeming too "woe is me", but she kept things light and adventurous in her drive to write this rom-com.
And sure, there were plenty of classic rom-com moments, but because Emma and Charlie were also writing one, it somehow felt more fun then overdone. This was such a fun book with a deeper meaning behind it all. A happy ending is all we want sometimes!
I will definitely be recommending this book to others!

Ive read a few books by Katherine Center and every one of them just drags me in! I really enjoyed the love story of Emma and Charlie and seeing all their fun quirks along the way. I enjoyed the side characters as well and would love to see more of her sister Slyvie and what the future holds for them. The only thing that sometimes threw me off was the writing style its vastly different from what I usually read so I had to do a couple rereads on some pages. I loved this book and thank you for letting me be an ARC reader!

This was the first book I have read by Katherine Center and I just added all the rest of her books to my "want to read" list. In a word, LOVE. I LOVED this book! I needed it as a palate cleanser after reading a really intense book and this was exactly what I needed and more. I had a huge smile on my face the entire time I was reading it. I loved the characters, I loved their banter and dialogue, I loved their relationships with one another, I loved the ups and the downs, all of it. "It's all about writing the very best story of your life. Not just how you live it - but how you choose to tell it."

Katherine Center did it again! I absolutely adored the enemies to lovers vibes of The Rom-Commers. While TRC still had some emotional points throughout, overall this book was more light hearted than some of her other ones, which I enjoyed. She is such a funny writer, and I love the way she depicted the different facets that writing and fame can have on someone.

I loved this book! Not only was it laugh-out-loud funny, the overall message was so important for everyone to hear. Be grateful. Is life going to have its ups and downs? Yes. But focus more on the positive and you can get through the negative.
Katherine Center does a great job at making us love her characters, and I absolutely loved Charlie and Emma! Thank you to Net Galley for an ARC e-book of this story.

If you want book that make you feel good, Katherine Center is author for you! Loved the Rom-comers so much! The characters, the humor and the premise. The romance doesn’t have much spice, but it’s just so sweet and will warm your heart!

Center is a must read author for me...this book didn't point. A feel good love story that kept me turning the pages to see what happens.

I LOVED this book. It was just beautiful. The way it handled disability, grief, and caregiving, was so true to life and deeply kind. I also won the dad lottery, and he died a few years ago—I cannot tell you how healing it was to see somebody as gentle and lovely as my dad on the page. I cried twice. 10/10.

Wow I LOVED this book. Was obsessed with how the main characters were writers. Loved the ending (it was a bit of surprise with the cancer scare)! Kept me on my toes! Def a good summer read!

I absolutely adore you Katherine Center! I truly believe you can write no wrong! The Rom-Commers is another perfect example of how you have perfected the art of rom-com storytelling. The characters, the dialogue and the concept of writing “the story” within “this story” were exquisite.
Emma Wheeler has always wanted to make it big as a screenwriter. But her dreams were thwarted when she became the full time caretaker for her father following a tragic accident ten years ago. Famous, handsome and mega successful Charlie Yates has received award after award for his brilliant screenwriting and now finds himself completely out of his element having to write a rom-com. As luck would have it, Charlie’s agent Logan, is a long time friend of Emma’s and he arranges for the two to spend six weeks together rewriting Charlie’s horrible script.
A million stars for this wonderful story that will keep you enthralled until the very last page when you will wish there was more. Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for allowing me the joy of reading an advance copy in exchange for my honest opinion. And thank you Katherine Center for your brilliant storytelling which always gives me the very best of all kinds of feels. This one was extra special as I couldn’t stop imaging there was so much of you in Emma!

Two. screenwriters in two different places in life. One stuck at home, a caregiver to her TBI father, and younger sister. Being thrust into the mother figure role, Emma Wheeler is exhausted and desperate yet apprehensive for a change.
Charlie Yates was at the peak of his career. Anything he touched was gold but, after being tasked with writing a rom-com and a case of the yips, he begrudgingly needs help.
The two come together to work on a romance manuscript that could bring Charlie back to the spotlight, give Emma the chance at her dream, and who knows, maybe sparks could fly being the two of them.
Cute, endearing and a plot line that kept me flipping the pages, this was a win for Katherine Center.
