⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ it took a bit to get into Mind Games but once I did I was hooked. Nora Roberts knows how to weave a story together. Once you get 1/3 in you realize that moments in the first portion of the book had more significance than just painting a picture of the character in their youth.

I wish that we would have seen Ty earlier in the book and had more interaction between them. It seemed so fast but yet was months because the book would blow past an entire month in a single sentence. It didn’t allow for their relationship to develop and felt choppy.

But overall great read! Appreciate the ability to review the ARC for my honest opinion.

A romance within a thriller that will chill your bones. Artfully written to balance the horror is a loving family and a deliciously slow build romance. The story honestly gave me a nightmare so I quit reading it at night.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thea and her younger brother stay two weeks with their Grammie every summer. This year while they are there, tragedy strikes her parents at their home in Virginia. Thea, her mom and her Grammie have a special kind of sight that they share. Thea finds out that the inmate who murdered her parents also has the special sight. Thea can see his thoughts, dreams and sinful acts even miles away. She wages a battle to block him out of her thoughts and dreams forever. It is a battle she has to win to protect any children she has in the future. I really enjoyed this book! Thanks to @NetGalley for the ARC of this book.

Nora Roberts is a prolific writer that has refined her craft. Delving in to her books is like wrapping yourself in a warm familiar blanket as you always know that you will get a well-developed story. She has crafted a suspenseful coming of age story of Thea Fox who has a special gift or is it a curse? Thea and Rem are staying with Grammie in rural Kentucky for their annual summer visit. 2 weeks of being spoiled by Grammie and playing in the great outdoors, until tragedy strikes back home in Virginia. This multifaceted coming of age story has tragedy, suspense, friendship and romance.

Nora is the queen. She gets me every time! I need to put the book down and do other things, but I just can't. Mind Games was a fantastic book. There is so much to unpack in this book. Thea and her brother Rem visit their grandmother. Thea has inherited the "gift" passed through the maternal bloodline. On that visit, Thea and Lucy "see" what happened to the parents. Thea and Rem are raised by their grandmother. Thea has a connection to the inmate who killed her parents. This book spans over some of Thea's life. It was gripping, well written and such a beautiful story. Huge thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for allowing me to read and review this wonderful book!

Enjoyed this new standalone novel by Nora Roberts! The psychological component was really interesting to me and it built just enough suspense to keep the story going. Thea and Ty worked well as a couple, but I do wish their relationship would have appeared sooner. There is extensive background info in the first third of the book. It worked for me but I can see where it may big down the plot somewhat up front for others.

This may be one of my all-time favorite Nora Robert’s books. A strong woman, a dose of magic, a love story, a close-knit family and of course - some trouble.. Ray’s conclusion was satisfying, and of course we can’t diminish the ultimate conclusion - perfect!

Love, loss, a special psychic gift, and family....

The Foxes have always dropped their children (Thea and Rem) off for a two week stay with their grandmother (Grammie) in Kentucky at the beginning of summer. It is a time for their children to run and play while their parents enjoy time alone. Thea and Grammie both have the same horrific nightmare and know that something tragic has happened. Due to Thea's vision, her parent's killer will be imprisoned for the rest of his life. Sadly, he shares the same gift as Thea.

As I began reading Mind Games, I was reminded of how much I enjoy Nora Robert's writing. I was instantly invested in the sweeping and riveting tale that follows Thea from the terrible summer where she lost her parents to the present. Thea went through many changes and challenges in her life. I enjoyed getting glimpses into Thea's life, her gift, her relationships with her grandmother, her brother, Ty, and his son.

This book had a little bit of everything that I enjoy in books - family, mystery, growth, drama, and romance. This book is full of great characters, and I especially enjoyed Grammie for her quiet strength, wisdom, and guidance.

This book kept me on my toes wanting more the entire book and left me smiling. I was lucky enough to have both the book and audiobook. I highly recommend the audiobook as the narrator was fantastic and did an outstanding job of bringing the characters to life.

Well written, well thought out, gripping, and captivating!

MIND GAMES is an intriguing smorgasbord of suspense and romance with a side of supernatural served up via Author Nora Roberts's signature style. A multi-layered, character driven story with a strong yet vulnerable protagonist, MIND GAMES pits good vs. evil in an epic battle of the minds between two individuals with the gift of sight.

Twelve-year-old Thea Fox and her younger brother Rem are excited to be spending two weeks of their summer vacation with their maternal grandma Lucy on her idyllic farm in Appalachia, Kentucky. Unfortunately, their happiness is shattered when tragedy strikes during a home invasion in which their parents are brutally murdered back in Virginia . . . An attack both Thea and Lucy witness in horrifying graphic color in their nightmares. Thea inherited her psychic gift of sight from her grandmother as it's been passed down through generations of women in the family. Thea's powers of sight surpass those of her grandmother's, and it's her detailed description of the killer and his subsequent actions that aids authorities in locating, capturing and locking him away for life. Over time, Thea realizes the killer can also "see" her, and a mental battle of the minds begins between them.

Like several of Roberts's books, MIND GAMES unfolds in parts beginning with Thea Fox's early formative years starting at age twelve and continuing over a span of fifteen years into adulthood. Over the course of the story, readers get a sense of the love, respect, kindness, and tradition in which Thea and Rem thrive, growing into productive, caring adults with a keen sense of family. Over the years, Thea continues perfecting her gift of sight while utilizing her abilities to keep an eye on her parents' killer locked away in prison. She's careful, or so she thinks, to never let him "see" her watching him, but as she soon learns his powers are growing also, and he taunts and threatens her while stalking her nightmares. There's no doubt a confrontation is coming. Will she survive the challenge?

MIND GAMES is an emotional story that evolves slowly over time. Roberts gift for crafting heartfelt, emotional family sagas is highlighted as is her talent for rendering characters with deep family roots and tradition. Some readers may find the development of this story a bit slow as the author takes time to introduce the characters and set the stage for the coming battle while building tension. While the pace is slow, there's an escalating undertone of malice lurking that builds to the final showdown and epic battle of the minds. For those looking for romance, a love interest appears in the second half of the book with a relationship developing slowly, but for the most part MIND GAMES is a family drama about a girl who grows up learning to accept and embrace a unique gift while yielding it in ways to help not harm her fellow man. It's a showdown of good vs. evil reminiscent of the epic battle at the O.K. Corral, but with weapons of the mind not guns. It's another Nora Roberts classic in the making. Highly recommended to fans of Roberts and romance suspense as well as those who enjoy stories featuring protagonists with psychic gifts.

Wonderfully rich in atmosphere, characters and the foreboding that is missing in a lot of books I have read recently. Roberts takes her sweet time unfolding this story and I took my sweet time getting through the first third of the book knowing what was going to happen to a family I had come to care a great deal about. While I'm not a big paranormal fan, I really felt for Thea as she experienced the tragedy and had the guts and determination at the age of 12 to pick up the pieces of her life and move on. About Thea moving on: as in several of Nora's latest RS books, she doesn't introduce the hero, Ty, until halfway through the book. I know Thea was "growing up" but I would have loved having Ty and his son Bray throughout the story.

My thanks to the Publisher and Author for providing a complimentary digital Advanced Audio Copy (AAC) of this novel via NetGalley. This is my fair, honest and personal review. All opinions are mine alone and were not biased in any way.

LOVED IT! Another 5 star read from Nora Roberts! She grabbed me from page one and I didn't want to put it down. From Thea and her awesome dog Bunk, to Tyler and his adorable son Braydon there were so many great characters in this one. We can't leave out Grandma Lucy or brother Rem or Tyler's band mates and even bad guy Ray. All so much a part of the story and all just made it such a great read. I loved the "special kind of sight" that Lucy and Thea share and how it is interwoven throughout the story. This one is must read!

Always a reliable author but this time around I wasn’t hooked. Too much time spent on the life of a pre-teen/teen in Appalachia which, while provided character development, was not overly relatable. I liked the “sight,”though. Satisfying ending.

As always, Nora weaves an amazing story. This one had a choke hold on me and didn’t let go until the end. I cried through the first quarter of this book. It was so emotional and raw. This story had a tragic beginning that grew into a heartwarming story of family and love. And of course there was a bit of suspense and the unexpected. The ending was epic.

Nora Roberts is the queen of romantic suspense. I was absolutely HOOKED into this book from the very beginning. It was beautiful in the most heartbreaking way. It was so original, with the mind-bending link between Thea and Ray. I absolutely adored our found family element. The small town was so cozy and such a wonderful vibe. If you love Nora's romantic suspense books and are looking for something different with a little bit of a twist definitely pick this up.

Final Score - 5 Stars!

I have to admit, this one took a while for me to get into. But when I did, I was ALL IN and could not put it down. Much of my reading lately is done late at night and I could not let this one go until I knew what would happen to them all.

Mind Games by Nora Roberts is a hold on to you seat novel, which contains some dark subject matter. This book explores the depths of evil and how it lingers and has a lasting effect on one's soul - and their mind. The story is filled with intriguing characters, set in real world atmosphere, and is driven by a plot that will keep you gripped and gasping as you turn the page. Ms. Roberts ensnares you with her classic story telling and character driven plot. The romance was light hearted and gave a much needed balm at key points, that made it seamless to read and enjoy.

My pulse was pounding during other parts that left me speechless and my mind wondering. This is a definite must read.

Mind Games by Nora Roberts was a big hit for me.  There was murder, romance, family drama, psychic abilities, greed, and love.  It gave me all the emotional roller coaster throughout this book.  I was sucked into the story immediately.  I was shocked at the beginning when Thea’s parents were murdered as she watched it happen in her nightmare. I disliked Riggs as a character, he was chillingly creepy!  I did however love the family unit with Thea, her brother Rem, her grandmother Lucy, and the town that welcomed them in.  I enjoyed seeing Thea grow and become a master gaming designer.  That sounds like a very cool job!  Best of all, I enjoyed the interaction between her and her childhood crush, rock star, father, and neighbor, Ty.  A lot was going on in this story, but it does span about 15 years starting when Thea is twelve and ending in her late twenties.  Overall, I loved it.  I had a difficult time putting it down and found myself going to bed early just so I could read more.  I look forward to reading the next one that Nora Roberts writes.

The versatility of Nora Roberts writing is mind blowing! (No pun intended). This is a suspense thriller that has the 2 characters that use their telekinesis, one for good and the other for evil. A tragedy brings the 2 together, as Thea watches her beloved parents murder, even though she is at her Grammie’s and no where near the crime scene. During that tragic scene she connects a moment with the murderer. At the age of 12 she and her grandmother informs the police and they catch him with enough evidence that he will serve two life sentences. And now the mind games begins. Thea is putting her life back together, but she will never be free from the torment unless she faces evil.
Definitely a page turner, a bit romance but it is about family bonds and value, good vs. evil. I was drawn into the story immediately, loved the book and also the audiobook narrator was excellent. Thank you NetGalley for this eARC. I am voluntarily posting an honest review after reading an Advance Reader Copy of this story. #NetGalley #MindGames #StMartinsPress #MacmillanAudio

This was such a unique storyline and it has so many aspects to appeal to so many different readers.
I loved the characters. They have such warm and lovable personalities.
Early on, the characters dealt with a major tragedy by the hands of a monster.
Thea has the special ability to see into minds but so does the monster that killed her parents. This is where mind games comes in as he tries to get in her mind and mess with her. I wish this was most of the storyline. We did get the story of Thea growing up and how she gets to where she is today. The love interest didn’t come in until about 50% in the book. Some things dragged on and wasn’t holding my attention.
But I still enjoyed this one. And like I said it has a lot of elements that would attract to variety of readers.

I usually enjoy Nora Roberts books for light, effortless reading. I can count on a solid storyline, good pacing, semi-believable characters, and a little paranormal/fantasy element for interest. Mind Games doesn’t deliver.
The pacing here is very off. We spend the first half of the book in Appalachian Kentucky following young Thea as she grapples with the violent death of her parents and the strange psychic connection she has to their killer. There are endless discussions/inner monologues/descriptions of life on a working farm in a small inter-dependent community and how different it is from a big city. That’s HALF the book! We finally meet the love interest, Ty, at the halfway point and things pick up.

However, the characters are flat and uninteresting. The worst were Grammie and Ray. First, there’s Grammie, who never fails to add trite wisdom to any conversation and is unfailingly GOOD. Nobody is that good. She is front and center, along with Thea, during the first half of the book and is just boring. Then, there’s the antagonist, Ray, who is just BAD. Nobody is that bad for no reason, but we don’t get any backstory. I think my favorite character was actually the dog, Bunk.

I won’t give up on Nora Roberts, but this wasn’t my favorite.

Thank you the Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I am a long time Nora Roberts fan and love when a new release of hers comes out. Mind Games is no different! I know going in to a NR book these days that there will be some sort of tragedy to overcome or hardship the main character had to endure. In Mind Games, within the first few pages there is a gut punch as the young heroines parents are tragically murdered. BUT, this lends itself to set up the rest of the story and it's a great one! The story follows Thea, the young daughter, whose second sight has linked her somehow to the person who murdered her parents. She shares this second sight with her Grandmother who raises her and is told it's a gift that is passed down in their family. This gift feels like a curse to Thea though as she is somehow at times still linked to the thoughts of her parent's murderer.... Nora always adds a love element to her stories which I love and always look forward to. Enter Ty, a new neighbor with a young son. I'll leave the rest of the story for the reader to uncover, but just want to add that as with all of Nora's books- There is a light at the end of the tunnel!
