Thea and her younger brother Rem are spending their annul two week June visit with their Grammie
in Redbud Hollow. Thea, who shares the gift of sight with Grammie, witnesses
her parents being murdered in their home back in Virginia. Thea is able to supply the police
with information leading to the capture of the killer who also has the gift. As Thea learns to protect
herself and keep the killer out of her mind, he still manages to get in. With the help of family, Thea
and Rem have the support needed to move forward. While Thea does help the police when called
upon, her name is never mentioned. Thea needs to find a way to keep the killer out of her head
permanently.
Resilient heroine, strong family and friend support . Another great read from Nora Roberts.

I have been a fan of Nora Roberts books since I was very young. Probably way too young to be reading her early books. That being said I see a difference between her older books and her newer books. Her style has changed, there is more of a paranormal aspect to her stories and less of a romantic direction. I'm not at all saying that I find this to be a bad thing. In fact I am happy to find that her writing style has changed and shown growth and new direction. I will always love the Nora Roberts romance novels that I grew up reading, but I have a new appreciation for her newer books as well.
Thea has a very unique gift. One that shouldn't be advertised to the world, one that most wouldn't believe. One that even her mother didn't want her to use, even though her mother had the same gift she never put it to use and didn't expected her daughter to do the same. Thea's gift would eventually put her in the forefront of her parents murder. I loved how much Thea's family supported her. This story was very family oriented from the very beginning. Thea would need all the support she could get.
This book was emotional rollercoaster, thrilling, funny, sad, happy, and unexpected. I enjoyed everything about it. The writing style may have changed but, Nora can still tell quite a story.

Another Nora Roberts hit with a very different topic that will have you invested immediately. Enter the lives of children Thea and REM, and their grandmother Lucy. The town of Redbud Hollow makes for a perfect setting for this exciting novel. One terrifying event turns all their lives upside down., and leaves Thea to discover a life long psychic ability which allows her to see events and to read peoples minds - good and evil. A very engaging story that will send you into a “Mind Game”, you’ll have a hard time forgetting. The ending was perfectly written with emotions galore. Don’t Miss this one!
Thank you to Netgalley, The Author Nora Roberts and The Publisher St. Martin’s Press for allowing me this great reading experience for my honest review.

Just wow! This book was (no pun intended) mind blowing! So much heart ache and sadness at first but that’s how wonderful Nora Roberts writes. She draws you in and just gets swept away.
The characters were phenomenal! I loved their grandmother! She is spunky and determined and full of love, just what a grandmother should be! Our FMM was outstanding! Though she went through so much and how she witnessed everything was scary and amazing. She had to over come so much and with her grandma’s help she was able to. I about died when her love interest showed up and his little boy! My heart melted! It was definitely my favorite read of this new year and I cannot wait to get my hands on the physical copy! Nora you did again!! Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this and write this review.

Mind Games, the newest standalone novel from Nora Roberts, is yet another out of the park homerun! I am a sucker for a good romance with a little bit of mystery thrown in and this book didn’t disappoint. In this story, our main character Thea has a unique gift, which has been a blessing but also is dark and terrifying. What I love about this book is that Thea’s past to present was outlined which is a nice diversion from the traditional romance novel. Is there a love component to Mind Games? You bet there is! As only Roberts can, this book is masterfully written with deep relationships and bonds between characters, building stories within the story.

I would like to thank the publisher and NetGalley for providing an advance copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Mind Games may be my favorite Nora Roberts novel ever. I love the characters, the paranormal twist, and the setting, all create a great world that just draws you into the story. Every year Lucy and REM travel to the Appalachian mountains of Kentucky to spend time with their grandmother Thea. Touched with a psychic gift, Thea witnesses first hand when her parents are murdered in Virginia and helps capture the killer. The murder begins the psychic battle with the killer that follows Thea into adulthood. The killer tries to slip into Thea’s mind as her life progresses from child to successful video game designer. When Thea’s famous childhood crush moves to town, she begins building towards an HEA that is threatened by her gift and the link to the killer. Suspenseful but sweet, the story is the right mix of paranormal romance and thriller to make for a memorable read for the to be read again shelf. My voluntary, unbiased, and non-mandatory review is based upon a free review copy from NetGalley.

As an avid reader of Ms Roberts, I’m all ways worried that her next book will be the one where her writing slides, the characters are flat, the story is dull.
That’s not the case with this current read! One of her modern murder mysteries with a supernatural twist, Mind Games kept me up all night because I couldn’t put it down! Another winner!

What an interesting plot for a story. I loved watching Thea grow throughout the story. She never gives excuses for what is going on around her, or for what happened to her. Instead, she takes everything she has, and she challenges herself to develop it and grow as a person. She truly is the epitome of someone who takes life and makes it work for her. This book will entrap you and take you on an interesting journey where those with the sight can either choose to use it for good or evil. Nora Roberts weaves a stunning tale that readers will fall in love with.
Thank you so much to St. Martin’s Press and Netgalley for allowing me to read an advance copy of this title.

Prepare yourself for a thrilling ride that explores the complexities of family, trauma, and the lingering shadows of the past. Follow Thea, a young girl who possesses a unique ability, as she navigates a dangerous game of cat and mouse with a twisted inmate. Along the way, you'll witness the unbreakable bonds of love and the resilience of the human spirit.

Roberts masterfully weaves together suspense and heart, keeping readers on the edge of their seats while also tugging at their emotions. The characters are deeply relatable and their struggles feel real and resonant.

So, if you're looking for a book that will keep you up all night and leave you with a satisfied smile, make sure to add "Mind Games" to your TBR pile. Trust me, this one will stay with you long after you finish the last page!

I love, love, love a good psychological thriller with a love story mixed in! This book was the best combination of romance and something else that I just couldn't put it down. It was so unlike any other Nora Roberts I've read, but it was amazing all the same.

This one is something different from Nora Roberts while still dabbling in the unusual. The first part of the novel is the pain, the suffering, the healing from such a horrible crime, but shows the strong ties of family, and healing. The second half is the building of strength, self confidence and still the power of family. I struggled at first to understand the title but hold on readers it is all brought together. The story begins when Thea, a 12 year old girl with a gift that helps her see into the minds of others, is spending the summer with her brother, Rem, and her Grammie, Lucy (who also has the gift). Thea sees something terrible happen to her parents and she wants to do everything she can to catch the man that is responsible. Thea has the gift of sight that has passed down through generations of women in her family and she is able to use it to help police capture her parent’s killer. The killer has the same gift, and he uses it to stay tied to Thea. A mental battle wages between them over the next fifteen years until they are face to face and Thea is ready for a final game. The whole story is a work of art. There's a little mystery, a little thriller, some romance, and even some magic that will keep you hooked from the first chapter. I loved seeing the characters grow throughout the story and I loved seeing Thea do so much with her gift.

Thank you to NetGalley, Nora Roberts and St Martins Press.

This was the first Nora Roberts book that I've read. Honestly, maybe it's just not my style of writing, but this wasn't my favorite book. It was almost syrupy sweet - from the characters to the setting. And again, maybe that's how it's supposed to be - but I felt that the characters were either too nice or too mean - very exaggerated on both ends. I did however, like the colorful descriptions of where they lived and all of the small-town activities like candle-making and farming. Also, I'm not sure I liked the supernatural aspect either. Felt a little odd to me and out of place.

Despite being an avid reader for many years, I’ve only just recently discovered Nora Roberts’ books. “Mind Games” makes the third book of hers that I have now read, and like the previous two, it definitely did not disappoint! The storyline itself is a bit outside the box—which, frankly, was a huge draw for me—and it elicits a myriad of emotions from start to finish. I found the characters to be well developed and endearing, and the premise to be unique, compelling, and unpredictable. Running the gamut from thriller to suspense to supernatural to romance, it’s a story that pulled me in right from the very first page, and it continued to hold me captive right up until the very last.

Mind Games by Nora Roberts starts with the traditional ingredients: strong heroine, tragic event, loving friends and family, love interest, relationship conflict. Thea has wonderful parents, a close connection with her brother, and a grandmother who loves her. Her paternal grandparents suck, but with the rest of her support system, who needs them? When a tragedy happens, Thea helps to put a killer in prison but continues to be connected with him.

Mind Games takes the usual recipe and creates an interesting dish. It then adds some spice with the connection with the criminal, the idea of how what you believe affects your reality, and how Thea's career of creating games combine the two. As Nora Roberts does, the relationships between characters are strong and the storyline ties together well. The story sometimes has too much detail in the cooking and family bonding of Thea, her brother, and her grandmother. They're all very nice, loving, accepting people and there are enough examples to make sure that we all know it. There's a sweet romance that doesn't overwhelm the suspense, and as with most Nora Roberts' heroes, I'd like to know where to meet someone like this. I found the conflicts between characters to be very realistic in terms of how people deal with things they don't understand, like Thea knowing things she shouldn't know. I enjoyed the interactions that Thea had with law enforcement and how she aligned the challenges caused by her visions with her morality.

The romance at the end was a little schmaltzy, but overall sweet, and I found the vitriol of the killers thoughts to be repetitive of other killers/villains with the language used. It felt a little formulaic. Overall, however, Mind Games was intelligent in how the story built and the the ending was creative. It was an innovative response and surprised me, making this a book that I recommend to friends. This is a story that is better than 4 stars but didn't quite hit my 5 star standard. Definitely enjoyable and worth the time spent.

Thank you to NetGalley, Nora Roberts, and St. Martin's Press for an ARC of "Mind Games".

"Mind Games" is a masterfully crafted thriller that explores the complexities of love, family, and the enduring battle between good and evil.

Set amidst the winding roads of Appalachia, the Fox family's idyllic summer ritual takes a dark turn when a heinous crime shatters their lives. Twelve-year-old Thea and her grandmother Lucy, bonded by an unspoken connection, awaken to a shared nightmare, signaling the beginning of a chilling battle against evil.

As Thea grapples with her psychic abilities, she becomes a beacon of hope in the pursuit of justice, using her visions to ensure the perpetrator faces the consequences of their actions. However, her gift becomes a double-edged sword as she finds herself entangled in a dangerous game of cat and mouse with the very individual who tore her family apart.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and it had me captivated until the final page. However, I would have liked to see more focus on Thea's psychic talents and her collaboration with law enforcement.

If you are a fan of romantic thrillers, I recommend adding it to your list of must-reads.

Nora has done it again! I was hesitant to start this one because of how creepy it sounded, but as usually Nora has crafted an intriguing and exciting story around well rounded characters and a spark of supernatural that makes the story that much better. Can't wait to buy it in hardcover!
