My thoughts: ONE WRONG MOVE is a kind of creepy read--a series of robberies and murders and you will never guess wwho-dudn-it. Plus the clues...i never would've figured them out. And who was the intended victim? Good grief. A great read, cozy mystery and romance. I was given a copy free and all opinions were my own.

I was reminded of the series, White Collar, where the art thief helps the FBI solve cases, In One Wrong Move, the main character (Christian) is a reformed art thief who installs security systems in high end art galleries and Andi is a former FBI forensics person who is now an insurance investigator. There are two plots to this story, Christian and Andi trying to find out who is behind the heists and stop them and Christian's brother, Deckard and Andi's friend Harper trying to find out if/who framed Andi so that she lost her job with the FBI and why.

This book is intense suspense, never knowing when the bad guys will attack and how far they will go to stop the main characters. Lots of twists and turns, romance, humor, faith, family dynamics, and action packed scenes.

One Wrong Move by Dani Pettrey is a hot new suspense book, and for good reason! Art heists, shady pasts, and romance—this book's got it!

Unfortunately, the mystery was a bit more predictable than I prefer and the focus was more on the romance than what I'm looking for in a suspense novel. That said, the suspense factor was real, y'all. It was definitely real!

All in all, though, it's a very unique plot filled with characters you can't help but love! They're very relatable and I really enjoyed watching them work through all of their internal struggles.

In One Wrong Move, Christian O’Brady is called in to help investigate a local gallery heist since he’s the one who installed the security system. A man with a rough childhood and a checkered past, Christian has turned his life around and is trying to help prevent crimes that he might have once committed himself. Andi Forester, an insurance investigator, is also on her way to investigate the heist. A former FBI forensics investigator, Andi is trying to rebuild her life after a scandal left her reputation in shambles. As the two team up to investigate the crime, it quickly becomes clear that this is much more than it first appeared. And trying to get to the bottom of things may turn deadly for Christian and Andi.

Like other Dani Pettrey books I’ve read, I found this book to be well-paced and full of action. There are multiple story lines involved which adds to the depth of the characters. Both Christian and Andi are likable characters, and they have great chemistry. The story has turns that the reader doesn’t see coming. One Wrong Move is also a faith-based story and a clean romance. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and remain a fan of Dani Pettrey’s work.

I have been binging a lot of Dani Pettrey's books, so I was thrilled to see that she released a new one! I enjoyed the characters and that she writes great secondary characters. I also like the mystery side of the story. You won't be disappointed if you pick this story up!

Andi's career has been damaged through false accusations. Will the man who helped her job disappear consider that he made a terrible mistake and freed an guilty man? Andi's partner, Christian, grew up where his family ran constant cons to survive. Can his new job make up and prove to the world that he is better than his upbringing? Andi and Christian each have their secrets but somehow they learn to trust each other. They pray for God's help in finding the bad guys and to stay alive and out of all the danger surrounding them. This book is very exciting and satisfying, as I knew it would be because of the previous suspenseful books by the author. I was very happy to read this book and look forward to the next one the author writes!
I appreciate the opportunity to read this book from the publishers. The thoughts expressed are my own.

"A suspense-filled novel that is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat!

Dani Pettrey’s One Wrong Move is a modern-day investigative novel set in the town of Jeopardy Falls. A string of art heists brings Christian O’Brady, part of a private investigative team, and Miranda ‘Andi’ Forester, an insurance investigator and former FBI agent, together. But the story doesn’t end there, as Dani Pettrey has skilfully incorporated two male leads in this novel, effectively merging two investigations together. Deckard, Christian’s brother and private investigator, joins forces with Harper, Andi’s best friend and fellow FBI agent, to investigate what happened to a missing piece of evidence that had exonerated Deckard’s client but led to the loss of Andi’s job in the FBI. Christian’s past catches up to him when he realizes that the string of art heists being investigated are closer to home than he had imagined.

This is a suspenseful novel that is very well written and has a perfectly executed plot. I loved the generous dose of faith where both Andi and Christian are broken people who are learning to trust God every step of the way. The romance in the novel was very good between Andi and Christian, as was the brewing romance between Riley, Christian’s sister and co-PI, and Greyson Chadwick, another PI. I cannot wait to read what happens between Harper and Deckard and how the plot develops around them. Overall, it was a good read with a strong dose of faith, romance, and suspense.

Don’t judge a book by its prologue, first chapter, and full caps on the first page of each chapter. I almost put this book down because of these, but I would have done a great disservice to myself.

Dani Pettrey has been a favorite author of mine for many years, so I was excited to be able to read and review her latest book One Wrong Move. This book is the first of her new series.

What I loved about this book is the great mystery and suspense that Ms. Pettrey does so well in all of her books. I kept thinking I had the villain figured out, then another curveball would be thrown and I was guessing all over again! I enjoyed the budding romance between the main characters, but would have loved more of their backstories to have been a little more developed, as it did play into the ending of the book.

However, the book is very well written and I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good, clean Christian mystery/suspense novel with a touch of romance.

I received a complimentary copy from Bethany House Publishers through NetGalley and Interviews & Reviews in exchange for my honest review. All opinions stated are directly my own.

This book starts off with a lot of action which both hooked me and confused me. I wasn't sure what was really going on to start. As the story progressed though, I finally gathered what was happening. While I enjoyed the story, there were a couple things that bothered me. I felt like the romantic parts between the two MCs were a bit fast for my liking. I felt like it was all based on outward appearances/PDA. I would've liked more time for them to develop into a relationship where they knew one another longer.

I also felt like the additional back storyline wasn't necessary to the main story and that there wasn't a big enough connection to the two stories. I understand that she was introducing characters and plot lines as the beginning of a series, but it just felt cumbersome with all the additional characters.

I did enjoy the banter between Greyson and Riley. I look forward to their story. I could definitely tell that there is lead up to the next books in the series. I did also enjoy the faith content throughout the book. I will be continuing the series.

Thank you to Net galley and the publisher for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

This book had all the things I love in it! A salvation story, testimonies of later in life Christians, a romance, a mystery, and even a heist! I loved how the author was able to wrap Christian elements into a mystery. This was my first Christian mystery and I can’t wait to read more!

This is my second book to read by Dani Pettrey and I really enjoyed them both. This book is full of suspense and had several plot twist that kept me reading for more. I really liked all the characters and the family dynamics. Christian, his brother and sister have an interesting past and I liked how it played a part in the plot. The romance between Christian and Andi was sweet and there were hints at other romances I think will come later in the series. The faith elements were light but well done. I enjoyed the fast pace plot and the action scenes. My only complaint was that some of the action sequences were a little unbelievable to me. But it definitely made for a fun, adventurous read!

One of things I look forward to when I pick up a Dani Pettrey book is her cast of characters. Whether they're a family or a team, she always draws me into the story through them. I love the dynamic we have in this series with two older brothers and a younger sister. Their backstory has really bonded them together. I enjoyed the fact that we had two cases going on at the same time with this one. I felt like it was a nice mix going back and forth between the two as neither overpowered the other. I've been to Albuquerque so it was great getting to see more of that area through the setting. As always, Dani's settings are as much a character as the people she puts there. I look forward to the next book!

"The sun dipped below the horizon, and soon darkness shrouded the land. Time to move. Heading around to the back of the building , he found a sliding door to her unit . Easy enough. He jimmied the lock and eased inside."

This first book in the Jeopardy Falls series is set in the Southwest. This series features three siblings that are working together as private investigators to solve challenging crimes. Forgery. An art heist. Corruption. And murder.

This book focuses on two parallel cases. One involves an insurance investigation, and one involves clearing the name of one falsely accused of crime. At least, it seems like the person is falsely accused. There are plenty of clues to try and solve both mysteries. Occasionally flipping back and forth was a bit challenging to follow. But overall, I enjoyed having two storylines.

With siblings running the show, one finds happy-ever-after with an unexpected person and the other two siblings seem to be headed that direction too. The romance aspect was not over the top, but it definitely played a role since this is a romantic suspense book. I can't wait to read the sequel.

I did read an early copy of this book through NetGalley. I wanted to read and review it. All opinions are my own.

Taunting riddles.
A deadly string of heists.
Two broken hearts trapped in a killer's game.

Dani Pettrey delivers a thrilling, mind-bending new release set in the deserts of New Mexico that captivated me from the very beginning. With immediate, intense action scenes and the taunting threat of danger lurking around every corner, readers will find themselves devouring the pages!

I enjoyed the premise and plot built around precious artifact heists. It was new, exciting and presented in a high-stakes way that kept me invested in this story. The many twists, turns and surprises kept me guessing and intrigued.

Both Christian and Andi are fantastic main characters with broken pasts that they have overcome, making them relatable and enjoyable. Like her previous books, Pettrey has built a team of friends and family around them with unique specialties that each lend a unique quality to this story. I love how down-to-earth the characters were and the romances blossoming in this story were perfectly swoon-worthy with several great scenes!

Overall, this was an exciting read that offered an interesting look into the world of heists and FBI evidence logging. If you love stories with suspense, romance, a strong faith thread and daring, capable characters, you'll love this novel!

4.5 stars

One of the things I always love so much about Dani Pettrey’s books is the team/family bond that her characters have. Whether it’s the McKennas from her Alaskan Courage series or the law enforcement friends in the Chesapeake Valor books or the CGIS team in the Coastal Guardians series, her characters have each other’s backs and have fun together, even in the midst of stressful situations. This never fails to put a smile on my face AND keep me coming back for more time with these friends/family/teams that I quickly grow to love.

Now Pettrey has introduced us to the Jeopardy Falls crew of private investigators & security specialists (made up of the Macleod siblings and a close family friend), and I can already tell that these characters will be another strong team who isn’t afraid to joke around but takes their jobs – and their relationships – very seriously. I loved the dynamics between brothers Christian & Deck as well as their kid sister Riley and their mentor Greyson (who seems to be harboring some secret feelings for Riley – oh the romantic possibilities!!!). Christian’s kindness to Andi, his belief in her innocence, and his brokenness over past mistakes endeared him to me right away. The addition of former FBI analyst-turned-insurance-investigator Andi and her best friend Harper (still with FBI forensics) is a good one that synced well with the Macleod personalities and skill sets. Andi is a great character who has been dealt a bad hand, and I really enjoyed getting to know her and watching her & Christian fall for each other. I loved Harper too (though I think Riley will end up being my favorite female of the bunch… a close call though), and I’m all a’swoon with the sparks between Harper and Deck that promise to develop into more in a future book.

On the surface, One Wrong Move seems to be about a cleverly-orchestrated art heist. And it is. But it’s also so much more than that. Their investigation is layered and multi-dimensional and it takes them down paths and to suspects that I wasn’t initially expecting. What began with art heists escalates to something even more dangerous as Christian & Andi follow their suspicions & leads around New Mexico. Along with the immediate case demanding Christian & Andi’s attention, Deck and Harper also have their own separate pursuit involving the case that ended Andi’s FBI career. I was solidly invested in both investigations, eagerly turning the pages as my mind whirred with suspects and clues, my heart staying near my throat as these characters I immediately loved had to dodge bullets and threats and other pulse-racing attempts on their lives.

Bottom Line: Swoony romance. High-stakes suspense. Compelling characters. Dani Pettrey’s newest novel One Wrong Move has all the right moves when it comes to an engaging story that keeps you on the edge of your seat. Meaningful explorations of redemption and forgiveness occur naturally within the plot, adding to the character layers without feeling forced or distracting from the story. I was already excited about this series but reading One Wrong Move made me even more eager for the books to come – I can’t wait to catch up with the characters again and see what else Pettrey has up her sleeve for them to investigate.

In One Wrong Move, Christian and Andi find themselves drawn into a dangerous race against the clock as a criminal draws them into his games. Christian was raised by con artist parents and pulled into a life of crime, but, as an adult, he diverts his talents to working with the good guys as a talented security expert and private investigator. Andi was an FBI analyst until one of her colleagues destroyed her career, and she now finds herself as an insurance investigator. They both get called to a suspicious jewelry store break-in, not realizing how much bigger the web is that they’ve fallen into.

Riddles? Heists? Danger? Yes, yes, yes. One Wrong Move provided the great adrenaline-filled suspense scenes that I love about this genre! I was invested from the opening scenes and I loved the author’s choice in POVs.

Thank you to Bethany House for a complimentary copy. All thoughts are my own.

This first book in this series is a winner for sure. I loved and enjoyed It immensely. It was like reading two different suspense thrillers with romance added in. We have a couple working together for the insurance company for art gallery heists at three different stores that have artifacts of great value. Andi is the one that is the fraud insurance investigator who was let go of her last job as an FBI analyst because they said she botched the evidence. She knows she was set up and that she is innocent. She did the right thing but someone intervened after she got the DNA and the different evidence. There is no way she can prove that she is innocent because she is no longer there…..The brother of the security guy, Christian, who she is working with now is the very one who had evidence to prove her guilty. But now as a request from her best friend to reinvestigate and he is no longer directly involved, Deckard reluctantly agrees to reinvestigate and see if there were any loopholes that he missed, although he does not believe that there is any but to his surprise…. wow you must get this book to read all that unfolds you will certainly enjoy it like I did… Thanks to the publisher for an early copy and I am happy to leave my review.

One Wrong Move by Dani Pettrey

Mini Review:

This is my second christian romantic suspense novel this year and the first by this author. I absolutely loved this book. It has all the aspects of a great story suspense, mystery, & romance.
I loved the main characters Christian and Andi. They both have things in their past to keep them from wanting to be in a relationship or fall in love. The suspense begins quickly in the book and you better hold onto your hats because everytime you think the characters have caught a break or can catch their breath something new happens. This book has multiple points of view and it did take me a bit to get used to. The story wrapped up nicely and the mystery was solved but there is so much more story to be told in the town of Jeopardy Falls. I fell in love with the town and the people in it. I really hope the author continues with a romance for Christian’s brother and sister.
Things I loved:
*One mystery turned into two & and their was plenty of action
*Andi and Christian’s faith
*the multiple point of view (although it took me getting used to it really worked for this book)
*Christian and Andi first date was so cute
*strong female characters although the men in their lives were definitely protective they also knew the women could handle themselves.
*their trust and faith in God when times got tough they turned to him

This is the first in the series, with multiple points of view, full of romance and suspense.

One Wrong Move by Dani Pettrey is the first book in the Jefferson Falls series. And if you are a fan of Pettrey’s novels, you know she delivers fantastic suspense mixed with romance. One Wrong Move is a complex story, featuring two mysteries for readers to unravel.

First, Christian O’Brady meets insurance investigator Andi Forester at a crime scene…a heist! Stolen artwork and heists are Andi’s forte and Christian was the man responsible for the security system at the art gallery. They team up and soon learn that someone is willing to take extreme measures to keep them from investigating. In a separate mystery (not even a subplot, but another completely separate investigation), FBI Analyst Harper Grace sets out to prove that her bestie Andi didn’t botch an investigation, an event that ruined Andi’s career with the FBI. She teams up with Christian’s brother, Deckard, who is a PI who thought Andi was guilty of negligence. They pair up and become a target as someone doesn’t want them to learn the truth of what really happened.

I love the two mysteries. Usually one becomes a subplot, but the author gives equal amount of time to both mysteries and readers get to see the romance sparks for both Christian/Andi and Deckard/Harper. If you love mysteries with lots of red herrings, you’ll love One Wrong Move. There are a lot of suspects with plenty of intriguing characters to choose from. Plus, the romance plays out really well in this story, with all of the characters having secret pasts of their own.

This is an exciting start to the series! Definitely check it out if you are a fan of romantic suspense.
