This book is excellent! I understand the comparisons to Stephen King, though I dare say this author is more readable, with less drawn out descriptions. This is a creepy novel, as well as a beautiful coming-to-age story. I read late into the evening to see where it was going and found the conclusion to be satisfying. I will definitely be recommending this to others closer to publication. Thank you for the opportunity to read in advance!

Wildly imaginative! Great, multi-faceted characters. Very unique plot. Vivid descriptions. This was a fast-paced, interesting read, that I found I did not want to put down! Kept me glued to the pages from the first page to the last.

This book completely blew me away. It's a perfect genre bending book. It's got a little bit of everything - coming of age, mystery, murder, romance, horror, and self-discovery. If I could give it more than five stars I would. The writing and story are absolutely captivating. Honestly, the supporting characters steal the show. Kerri, Jerry, and the Weller. Oh the Weller, how I love you! You just show up and don't ask questions. You are what every friend should be.

It really takes a lot to floor me when it comes to books, but this one did it. I was not really sure what to expect with this book, however I was captured from the first sentence and read until I just couldn't stay awake any more. This book was a mix of genres with elements of supernatural, mystery, and coming of age. The story was extremely well thought out and paced perfectly. I will definitely be reading more from this author and recommending this others. Thanks for the ARC, Netgalley.

This book went in a very different direction than I expected, but I really loved it. It constantly left me wondering what was real and if the answers to my questions were even answers at all. Really strong characters and crisp descriptions that drew me in. It’s really unique, at least among the books I have read. I really recommend giving it a read!

This book was a wild ride, and I loved it all. Carson's writing is reminiscent of Stephen King's without being a blatant copy.

I loved both the 90's and supernatural aspects, and was incredibly drawn in by Marshall's character. I'll definitely be looking into Carson's other works.

I dislike when books are hyped as “ just like Stephen King” or any other author. It sets the book up for failure, because they usually don’t compare. However if you gave me this book without an author and said read, I would think I was reading Stephen King and that’s a huge compliment . Carson’s writing is wonderful and like King his characters are so real, nuanced and detailed every day people, it helps the horror stand out that much more. Carson was a master at laying out this story so I was on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen the entire time. Coming of age, love, adventure and horror story all in one this fantastic book has it all. I was then surprised to find Scott Carson a pseudonym for Michael Koryta because the style of writing to me is completely different.
On the day Marshall Miller gets his license he is stopped by a strange and formidable cop who gives him an extra hard time about speeding and there is a girl crying in the back of his cruiser. This encounter starts off a chain of events into the supernatural that has Marshall questioning everything he knows.

It took me a bit to get through this book, not because it was bad but because it’s so creepy. I couldn’t read it too close to bed or if I wasn’t in the “want to get the creepy crawlies” mind set. Definitely not the book to read if you are afraid of snakes or heights but really well done. I am really enjoying this Scott Carson set of scary books and I like that I know if I pick up a Koryta book, I will get a great mystery-thriller sometimes with a touch of supernatural and if I pick up a Scott Carson I will get a great modern horror.

This book immediately reminded me of a Stephen King novel with the characterization and the plot which starts in the natural world and slithers into the supernatural world.

The book became predictable after a certain point of the plot, but I enjoyed the characters and the look back to 1999 and Y2K. I felt that the ending was a little longer than it needed to be, but enjoyed the story.

I found this book to be very engaging with relatable characters. It captured the HS senior angst very well. For a supernatural mystery, it wasn't too over the top with that aspect which I appreciated.

It has been so hard trying to figure out a way to write a clever review about this brilliant book. Lost man’s Lane by Scott Carson is about a 16-year-old boy named Marshall Miller his mom is a local weather woman and a single mother he has a second family with his best friend Carrie and her parents Jerry and Gwen Flanders after a run-in with an abusive police name Maddox it is also when he spots a girl who he will find out is named Meredith Sullivan and when he learns her name he will also learn she is missing this is when he meets Noah storm in become his assistant but nothing can account for the strange things that start to happen in Marshall‘s life. From the 4 foot long black and white rattlesnake to the reoccurring dream of the barn with no doors or windows to the mistaken sighting that becomes front page news and as all this is happening he is starting to have feelings for the girl he’s known since they were in diapers. I know this is a horrible review and may not intrigue you to read this book but just know this book absolutely 100% reminded me of something that would’ve been written by Stephen King… It is that awesome! There is so much I want to say but cannot because it has a reader I do not read whole summaries of books because I feel they give too much away and someone something in the book happens it is a total shock to me and this one was full of twist interns that totally had me on the edge of my seat and blew me away and had my heart palpitating more than once this is a very long book but OMG it’s so worth reading it is an awesome horror story I can almost guarantee if you love Stephen King books then you will definitely love this one… It truly is an awesome awesome read. I’ve never read a book by this author but I will definitely catch up on any books he has written and read any books he writes in the future. I can honestly say this is one of the best books I have read since Winters Myths by Gage Greenwood I love that one an equally if not more love this one. This was a great concept in the supernatural thriller genre, it had everything that I was looking for. Scott Carson has a great writing style and it worked for the supernatural elements going on. I enjoyed the cover overall and thought it worked with the story.

On the day he gets his drivers license Marshall Miller is pulled over by a trooper who behaves strangely and threatens him. Marshall also notices a young woman in the back of the police car who turns out to be a missing person. He is contacted by a private detective who is looking for the girl and ends up working for him. It’s 1999 and the world is on the brink of a potential Y2K disaster. Soon the detective has vanished, his best friend Kerri’s dad is arrested and there are rattlesnakes everywhere! But when his mother crashes the car after seeing a snake in the mirror, Marshall’s had enough and enlists the help of his school librarian to research the history of his town’s limestone caverns and their connection to supernatural forces.

OMG! Had to keep putting this down because it was so intense. Scott Carson can certainly tell a story as thought provoking and scary as any of Stephen King’s.

This is a most bizarre plot about curses, snakes, and growing up in the late 90s on the cusp of Y2K. We first meet 16 year old Marshall Miller, as he's being pulled over by the police for speeding after just getting his drivers license. He notices something odd about the police officer, and sees a crying teenage girl in the back seat of the patrol car. He soon sees this girls' photo on missing posters around town. When reporting this to the police, the officer that pulled him over does not seem to exist. This is where the mystery starts.

Marshall lives with his mom, the local weather 'lady' and his dad is nowhere to be found. His best friend is the girl next door, Kerri, who of course he's secretly in love with. He's a bit of a nerd in school, with other classmates teasing him about his mom, with the tagline 'it's Miller time'. It doesn't help that his mom is young and beautiful.

He soon finds his rhythm, and falls into friendship with one of the cool athletes in school, Sean Weller. Sean is easily the best character in this story. He refers to himself in the 3rd person constantly, ' Let the Weller handle it', ' The Weller is in the house', you get the picture. The character development here is stellar. You feel like you are on the journey with Marshall as he navigates high school, finding his dad, and uncovering the evil in the town that may or may not have something to do with that policeman that pulled him over.

There are large sections of the book that have nothing to do with the plot, as the author describes the events of the time. This includes 9/11, Columbine, Y2K, and the Taliban. This adds to the mood and tone of the book, but you are eager to get back to the main story to see how Marshall and Sean are going to solve the case and what the future has in store for them both. Due to this segway, the book is over 400 pages, which was a bit too long.

Once Marshall gets a job with a local PI, the plot gets more bizarre, based on an ancient snake handling ritual that has been passed down for centuries. This part was a bit ridiculous, but you like Marshall so much, you go along for the ride. Marshall finds out a lot about love, relationships, his dad, and what he wants to do with his life. You root for him along the entire journey. This beloved character could continue on in a sequel, so we'll keep our eyes peeled for that one.

I had high hopes for this one thinking it would be more of a true crime type amateur sleuth type story. But it took such a left turn and I questioned where the author was really going with it. Towards the end I just kept imagining Wesley snipes saying “I’m sick of these mother fing snakes in this mother fing book!” It went from detective, missing person search to this hallucination derived I found my long lost dad read.

Upon receiving his driver's license, 16-year-old Marshall is stopped for speeding and notices a young girl in the back of the police car. The encounter feels strange to him, and his suspicions are confirmed when he sees a missing persons poster featuring the same girl days later. Lost Man's Lane, a supernatural thriller by Scott Carson, focuses on relationships in a coming-of-age story without relying on gimmicky ghosts to drive the plot. Marshall and his friends uncover the mysteries of a seemingly haunted town, with Marshall holding the key to unlocking the secrets. I was completely absorbed in the storyline and characters, reading the book in one sitting.

Another book I really loved. In the beginning I didn’t know if it was going to be a suspense, sci-fi, supernatural or what. The book was long but it kept the story going. I usually don’t like long wordy books because they get so repetitive. But this one didn’t. It had a great backstory and heart to the book.

Scott Carson's new book will keep you up at night reading and the horror will keep you awake - check your bed for snakes!!!! I have read all of Carson's books and he ranks right up there with Stephen King. There are characters you will dislike throughout the entire book, but he makes up for it with endearing and courageous characters - Marshall, Nolan, Seth, Marshall's mom, Kerri & the school librarian!
