I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. An informative picture book for kids about what it takes to be a K9 dog and what they do with the police.

I have followed K9 Mattis on social media for a while and I was really excited to read this book. I loved the story and the illustrations were beautiful. I loved how it captured Mattis’s real love for his job and Sgt Mark. This is a book that belongs in every elementary school library. Kids and dog lovers of all ages will smile when they read this book.

K9 Mattis on the Job is a police dog who works with his partner, Sgt. Mark. It is a true story about a day in the life of a police dog.

What I liked about this book was that it is an informational text, but uses illustrations. Many informational children's books use photographs. This was a nice change of pace. I also really like the fun facts on every page. It shows kids the important role police dogs have in their community. This is a book that will definitely appeal to children!

K9 Mattis on the Job by Mark Tappan, tells readers about a typical day for K9 police dog Mattis and his handler, police officer Andy. The author shows the trust and affection between the dog and his handler and shows how training and working with the public are part of their jobs. Mattis even gets to demonstrate his skill at finding objects through scent. No criminal acts or violence happen in the book. This book could be a good first look at police dogs for small children. Additional facts about the real Mattis and Andy are included in sidebars.

The true story of Sgt. Mark and Mattis. This book was very interesting. Fun facts along the way gave even more in depth knowledge. Helps the reader understand what a police dog does and the interaction with a handler. I learned quite a bit and it was a fun story. Great illustrations. Highly recommend.

This is a really cute story about a K-9 dog and officer and how he trains, the favorite parts of the job, etc. It is fun to consider what it is like for the dogs. I really enjoyed this book.

The book gives a great idea on the daily routine of a K9 police dog. I love the realistic amazing illustrations. More amazing points for the fun facts!

Love this book.

I read this to my 6 year old son and he loved it! We have a German Shepard and he calls him his cop dog. He even I s dressing up as a cop for Halloween, so this was super fun to read to him. His favorite part was when Marttis shows off his tricks as we are currently training our German Shepard some of the same commands.

K9 Mattis on the Job A Day in the Life of a Police Dog by Mark Tappan is a fantastic book.
Everyone needs to buy this book to read to their young children. Every teacher needs it for their classroom for read aloud time. This is a story that will touch your heart- make you smile and feel proud of all K9 service dogs.
Sergeant Mark has Mattis as his K9 service dog. The bond between the two is amazing.
The story is easy for children to understand, and the illustrations are fantastic.

As a dog lover I absolutely loved reading this book, the story and illustrations were very well done.

I read this book with my 8 year old son and we both very much enjoyed it! Wonderfully written, humorous while educational. We loved the fun fact blurbs on each page, and learned many new things from them. The story was well written and the illustrations kept my child's attention throughout. Overall, a great choice of book to sharewith any child.

Great kids book to open them up to the world of police K9 work!

The illustrations were great, and the language was simple and child-friendly but effective. I really liked all of the "Fun Fact" blurbs that gave a little extra insight into working with a police K9.

This is the cutest book! There are so many fun facts throughout the book. It's a day in the life of a k9 officer and his dog! This would be a great read aloud book or one for someone who loves the police or dogs!

Mattis is a well-trained police dog who has a very busy life working with his handler, Sergeant Mark. Among other things, the duo help keep the city safe, as they drive around, always on the look-out.

They also visit schools to inspire the kids. And Mattis never fails to impress them with his best trick. Because, luckily for Sergeant Mark, there's nothing Mattis can't find!

This is a book that many kids will enjoy, especially if they are interested in what police officer and police dogs do. Or even if they are doglovers in general. The story is accompanied by illustrations that are very we'll-done.
