Blood is so well written. Dr. Gunter does a great job at keeping the reader engaged and interested while making sure her writing is clear and understandable. This book has been added to my must-read list for reproductive health.
Wish a book like this was written when I was younger. Super informative and very much needed. It is easy to read and follow. Every women’s health class needs this
I love how the introduction talks about inclusivity and language and then uses inclusive language throughout the book, such as "people with ovaries". I appreciate the inclusion of the experiences of trans people. Right from the first page of the first chapter, I felt less alone. It's sad how these "taboo" topics keep people isolated when, in reality, they are such common experiences.
At 480 pages, this is one very detailed and informative book that dispells myths and misinformation, with end-of-chapter reiterations and plenty of references at the end.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me access to the eARC.
I loved this book. The tone is conversational and the explanations of very complex phenomena are crystal-clear. Dr. Gunter’s use of humour and excellent analogies had me enthralled from the beginning of the book through to the end. Another great strength of the book was the debunking of pseudoscience. I also loved that Dr. Gunter spoke from personal experience and I thank her for sharing. Kudos also to Lisa A Clark for the great illustrations. Thank you to Netgalley and Random House Canada for the advance reader copy.
