A good basic intro to PR for business with a focus on ethics, authenticity and integrity. More examples from other industries would have made this even more relatable, but there are also many other books for that.

Sophie Attwood's Beautiful PR is a worthy read for any business owner looking for an introduction to public relations (PR) or earned media — even those just looking to dial in how they communicate about their brand. It is not really a read for for folks in the industry. While I appreciate the push for practicing authenticity and ethical PR, these concepts are they only thing differentiating the book from any other sort of intro to PR.

Attwood is clearly well-credentialed and niched (great practice, good for her!) — but this means most examples or case studies in the text are from the beauty/cosmeceutical industry. While she does her best to find the universal learnings in these examples, and sometimes succeeds, the general reader could be better served with evidence from various industries.

If you're a small business owner, not yet ready to hire out your PR, this book is an easy, readable intro to the basics. If you're not in that position, you'd likely be better served elsewhere.

This book wasn't quite what I thought it would be. That being said, it had some interesting tips and information I didn't know.

Beautiful PR is full of helpful information and advice to get you started on your pr journey. As someone who doesn't know much on the topic I found this very interesting and eye opening, and learnt a lot from this book. I was grateful for the definition between marketing and pr being described as that's something that I'd always wondered and now I know the difference! The information on pitching to the media was also really detailed and helpful. This book will be a great resource to anyone looking to learn more about PR.
