Unfortunately, I found this story overall just boring. The book was way too long and I felt like a lot of things never got resolved or talked about. Asher was sweet enough but the communication with Rosie was awful and cringy.
Rosie was straight up annoying and I never really understood what was behind her motivations? Did she really care that much about her dad's opinion? It didn't seem to track with her character and all the decisions the author had her make about herself up until this point. It also seemed unbelievable that they would have had one fight one time in high school that just halted everything. Seemed like their relationship would have been much stronger than that.
All in all, this was super hard to get into and relate to and just wasn't impressive or interesting to me.

This book was, as aptly titled, a second chance snowmance - I loved seeing Rosie and Asher find their way back to each other. The snippets of their past helped to make the present timeline feel even sweeter. I loved getting to know both of them as people and that they had some things to work out solo before their relationship could really take off. I'm not the world's biggest miscommunication fan, but I felt like the unwillingness to lay everything out in every conversation R+A were having made sense with where they were in getting to know each other again. I felt like some of the plot points external to them getting together got a little lost toward the back third, but overall, a very sweet and fun wintry romance!

Second Chance Snowmance by Caroline Frank
I thoroughly enjoyed this friends to lovers romance. It is the third book in the series, but even without reading the first two I did not feel lost. The lack of communication was frustrating but it made sense for their characters. Rosie is a hard working, stubborn individual, while Asher is a nerdy dreamer. Their banter and chemistry were written very well, you could tell their friendship was genuine; the drama was just enough to make things intriguing, plus the slow burn spice was intoxicating. Rosie and Asher had their ups and downs trying to navigate through feelings and self journeys but it was refreshing watching them figure everything out. It was a bonus that meddling family members provided comic relief, making me laugh out loud several times. All in all I enjoyed this one, I highly recommend it for your holiday book list; I definitely will be looking for and reading more titles from this author moving forward.

3.5 for this book! Cute but I couldn’t stay into it! It took me a few weeks to finish because I kept forgetting about it. But that’s okay, not every book is for every one! I also read this before getting into the Christmas spirit.

This was a great read. I love when there’s dual pov. We get each character’s take on events and feelings. I don’t normally go for fluctuations from past to present but I felt in this case it worked well. The happy accident of a big boisterous Brazilian family with a single mom and quiet boy next door made for a great story. It created a perfect way for Rosie and Asher bond. A great story of friends to lovers to enemies and back. I appreciated this free advanced copy from NetGalley. This is my voluntary review.

When Rosie Castillo ends up back in her Colorado hometown for her sister’s wedding, after swearing to never return after that fateful New Year’s Eve, she immediately bumps into the man she’s been running from. As they rediscover their friendship (given they are neighbors and their families are best friends), they work to forgive each other and overcome the past, possibly finding a second chance romance snowmance along the way.
I am instantly drawn in by almost any holiday-themed romcom and I really enjoyed this one as well. It can definitely be read as a standalone, despite being the third installment in the Seasons of Love series. Friends to lovers is one of my favorite tropes and that, combined with the boy-next-door, made for a fun romance between the two main characters. Asher is the perfect hot nerdy MMC and I thoroughly enjoyed his banter with Rosie.
The event that ruined Asher and Rosie's relationship felt a bit dramatic, especially given that it was the main cause of her not returning home for the holidays. Had her family dynamics, specifically with her dad, been more flushed out, I think that could have contributed to her not coming home and made the book more engaging.
The ending was not my favorite given the immense amount of miscommunication and both Asher and Rosie's reactions felt unbelievable at times. All in all though, this book put me in the holiday spirit and was a quick, festive rom-com that I recommend picking up.
Thank you to NetGalley and Caroline Frank for an ARC of this book. All opinions are my own.

Okay, hear me out. An acoustic Christmas playlist, a candle lit, a cup of tea, and this book? An childhood friends- to enemies- to lovers story, with all the Christmas coziness? It’s a date 🧑🎄❄️
Also, it’s exactly what I did.
I loved this story so much, it was swoon-worthy. And all the festive and cozy Holiday vibes really finished it off for me 🎄♥️
I thought Asher and Rosie were perfect together and I rooted for them through the entire book. Also, a snowman made after Dwight from the Office? I giggled, and need to make one as soon as snow falls here ☃️
Definitely pick this up for your next cozy evening (or morning, or any time of day really) indoors 🛋️
Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC. This book is out now for you to enjoy 🤍

I hate when steamy books get cute cartoon covers. It was a cute storyline but the spice took away from the plot line

There are lots of things to love about this book. Friends to lovers, second chance, small town, family dynamics, Christmas vibes. I loved all those things. I also loved Asher and his nerdy-sexiness and just all around sweetness (and spiciness in the bedroom too). I liked Rosie but didn’t love her or feel as attached to her as I did Asher, not sure exactly why but there it is.
My biggest hang up though and what made this more of a 3 star book than a 4 star book for me was the length and some of the repetitiveness in the plot. Particularly revolving around the miscommunication trope happening of does she/does he love me/want me as much as I want him/her… it just got a little frustrating.
That aside I liked the story and think it’s got some great humor and steamy scenes and funny family moments to laugh over. For me, the miscommunication was just too much and it read a little too long for my taste.

3.5 stars!
I found Caroline Frank's "Second Chance Snowmance" cute and easy to read but flawed and frequently annoying if I'm being honest. I really did enjoy the main characters, Rosie and Asher. Asher is the dreamiest book boyfriend I've seen in a long while. He's sexy, intelligent, and sweet, loyal to a fault, and pining for Rosie something fierce. Rosie has severe daddy issues from what happened when she was younger and lets that come between her and every facet of her life. UGH. She's clearly talented when it comes to costume design but doesn't believe in herself enough to take the next leap in her career. I loved the Latine representation where her character is concerned. Unfortunately, these two characters are also complete idiots who cannot have an honest, open conversation to save their lives. Everything is guarded and tense and walking on eggshells when it could be explosive dynamite, if only they let it happen. It's blatantly obvious that everyone around them, their families, are trying to push them back together after they spent a decade+ apart after what happened in high school to cause the dissolution of their friendship. If they had just talked to each other when they were younger despite their mutual baggage, none of the events of this book would have happened. I guess that's the point of a second-chance romance, but it gets so freaking aggravating to read about how no one will just have a conversation with each other over and over again. Rosie and Archer are grown up but still act like teenagers. Still, I cannot deny that I devoured this book fairly quickly. I love a good holiday romance, and the pining and banter here are both off-the-charts well-written. I liked the spice, too. If you can put all of your moral scruples about having an honest conversation aside, you might enjoy this dual-timeline, friends-to-lovers second-chance romance.
Thank you to NetGalley and Caroline Frank for the complimentary ARC of this book. All opinions are my own. I wasn't compensated for this review.

This was a very cute winter/holiday read, and it was a good one to start the season. this is a childhood friends to lovers, second chance romance that was heartwarming. we have meddling mothers, spice, anxiety/panic attack rep, and total "the one who got away vibes". I thought that the second chance romance was done well, and the way the author pulled in their backstory together worked well too. I was pretty happy with it. Other than our main characters, I feel like the author did a good job of giving Rosie's sisters a platform and story too. Her sister Andrea is getting married and starting her new marriage, while her older sister Diana has been married and has been having relationship struggles with her husband. All three sisters were in different stages of love/relationships and it was nice how the author brought these sisters together to support each other. Rosie and Asher's story really came full circle and they both learned to live independently to ultimately come together and be happy. This was altogether a really enjoyable read that delivers on a wholesome romance that makes your heart happy.

Growing up, Rosie and Asher were best friends who didn’t realize they were both harboring feelings for each other until it was too late. After not speaking for 9 years, the two are reunited when Rosie comes back to her childhood home for the holidays and her sister’s upcoming nuptials. With a plot like that, romance (and spice 😏) is bound to ensue! How else do you expect these two to stay warm in the cold Colorado winter?!
I thought this book was very charming and cute! I’m a sucker for friends to lovers with a little enemies thrown in the middle as well. Rosie and Asher rebuilding their friendship was really lovely, and the dual POV was fun to read as they were getting to know each other again. There were points where the dual POV did a little bit of a disservice to the plot, I felt, toward the middle-end of the book, during some communication issues and fears they were both going through. During those points, I really wished I could shake the characters and go “I know what Asher/Rosie is feeling, so please just TALK”! I do not think that was too detrimental to the plot/my enjoyment of the book and would definitely recommend people cozy up with a warm beverage and read this to get into the winter mood!

I'm on the fence about this book. On the one hand, I really liked Asher and found him adorable...and hot. On the other hand, these two were terrible at communicating and that just annoyed me. Plus the book was way too long and seemed to drag, probably because of the lack of communicating part.
So Asher...who knew the Big Bang Theory-like character would end up being so hot in bed. He certainly surprised me with his alpha tendencies. Outside of the bedroom he was a big softie and obviously would do anything for Rosie, even give up his dream job and chance at a career with NASA.
Rosie was a very annoying character. I wasn't buying that she had daddy issues as the author made it seem at the end. Did she want her dad's approval since he never seemed to approve of her career choice? Perhaps. Did she subconsciously make all her career decisions because of her desire to get in her dad's good graces and make him proud? I was less inclined to believe that after 40 chapters of getting to know her character. She genuinely seemed to make career choices that she thought would make her happy or get her more exposure in the industry. She just gave up on a dream in Hollywood simply because it was too hard and I lost some respect for her when the obvious answer to all their 'long distance' issues could be solved by simply stepping out on faith or using those connections she made to pull some strings to get another movie job.
These two kept their feelings about each other, their potential long-distance relationship concerns, and their careers secret. They didn't discuss the hard things, except the past. Speaking of the past, ugh, they had one fight one night after graduation and they immediately reacted as stupid teens do and decided they had no future together. Was the timing incredibly poor? Sure, but they had been best friends for years. To throw it all away because of words said in anger and never reach out to the other to make things right just showed the level of maturity they both had.
The ending needed an epilogue. So much was said about their careers and how they'd make it work. Yet the author doesn't give us any of that resolution at the end. It just ends with them talking about their plans for the future. So we're told they have plans, but we're not shown. After 40+ chapters, I needed that closure to make this worth the time spent reading.
I've never read this author's books before. Would I read another one? Perhaps. It wasn't terrible and I did like some of the characters, I just wasn't a fan of the teenage-like drama and lack of communication from two 20 somethings.

Overall, this book is cute and it’s a fun little easy second chance romance read. The characters, Asher and Rosie, are amusing in their own ways and they each get POV chapters throughout the book so you know what they are thinking as things arise.
Though it was overall a fine read, I didn’t find the story compelling beyond that. Asher and Rosie have a history - made very apparent by the flashbacks - and circumstances put them in a position where they have a chance to be together again. However, once they are, the relationship feels very physical heavy rather than long term emotional. Additionally, they suffer from the issue of one of them being far too invested in being together. This was a detriment throughout the romance.
Asher, while a very interesting character initially, felt very flat by the end. The concept of being in love with your best friend for years was a cute thought, but did not translate well in his story arc. Rather, by the end, he felt like a character who only existed to be in a relationship and all personal goals were out the window.
As stated before, not a bad read, just not anything that will stick with me beyond right now.

Second Chance Snowmance
Ahh what a lovely book! I loved the snowy Colorado holiday setting! It’s definitely given me those cosy, festive vibes!
You are immediately dropped into the midst of tension between Rosie & Asher, best friends since high school, before a pretty big fall out 9 years ago.
They’re both arriving back home to Colorado for the holidays, desperate to avoid each other but their families seem hell bent of pushing them back together!
Between the snowman building, the present swapping, the spa day and all the spicy tension in between, I couldn’t stop flipping the pages to read more!
I loved the chemistry between Rosie & Asher and the whole coming of age part to the story and the struggle to prove yourself whilst also following your dreams.
The dual POV and the ‘then and now’ chapters also made it a really easy story to follow and allow you to really connect with the characters and the meddling mothers we’re definitely one of my favourite parts 😂
I’m not usually the biggest fan of the friends to lover trope or second chance romance but this was perfectly done 👌🏼
Definitely recommend if you’re looking for a cosy, festive romance ❤️

Who doesn’t love a good Christmas story now that it’s officially the season! I loved the banter, the angst and the humor of the main characters in this book! Even though I know very little Spanish, I loved the Spanglish that was throughout the book. Very well done!

I am giving this book one star because the author is latine, but this is the friends to lovers I do not like.
By saying this is the friends to lovers I don't like I mean that I don't like how they revolve around this one thing that happened but they don't go into details and never talk about it. If their friendship was so strong, then why did this one thing ruin it. They were teenagers and said things and did thing that really shows me they haven't matured.
These two were teenage toxic then holding things against each other when they were teenagers. Bruh, it's been years. Build a bridge and get over it. I still don't get why if their friendship was so strong why this one thing ruined their friendship.
The fact that it is so fucking obvious that everyone is intervening into this non-relationship and pushing them together. Instead of individually trying to ask what happened or try and help them to work through their feelings and fix things they just sabotage and try and set them up together. The way the whole situations happen just make me uncomfortable, and it if had been me and my family is manipulating me in this way, I would've bad mouthed them.
I liked the Latine parts and it's the only reason I pushed through this book, but it's me. I don't like these types of friends to lover/second chance romance.
Thank you NetGalley for the e-arc version of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I really enjoyed Second Chance Snowmance and it has definitely gotten me into the Christmas spirit! The Denver, Colorado setting totally set the scene for a winter wonderland. I also loved the childhood-best-friends-to-lovers and second chance tropes. Steamy and cute--the perfect winter read!

The perfect winter read honestly. I was in such a slump and didn't think a five star read was in the cards for me this month and then I received this gem from netgalley.
I'm not typically the biggest fan of friends to lovers but omg this book. I loved both Rosie and Asher and this book served plenty of their POV's, plus Asher's dirty mouth while being such a sweet nerd? Always a plus!
Well done, I literally added everything Caroline Frank has written to my kindle and have definitely pre ordered this one.

Second Chance Snowmance was great! Loved the holiday setting, loved the coming of age part of the story...gave me a bit of 'Now and Then' feelings, loved the dual POV's and felt the struggle of trying to prove yourself while also following your dreams. The romance was cute and the steam was perfect...Also if every man IRL could swoon over his love like Asher, the world would be a happier place! Loved this one!
