A Long Time Coming by Meghan Quinn
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️!!!! Meghan Quinn is one of those authors whose books I read as soon as they come out. She literally never disappoints and is the queen of contemporary romantic comedy! She hit it out of the park With this one yet again y’all!
The third book in the Cane brother series, this one is about Breaker and Lia. The two of them have been best friends since college, so much so that they live in apartments right next-door to each other. They both predictably tell family and friends constantly that they are just friends and to leave their friendship alone. Cue an unexpected proposal and Lia ends up engaged to her boyfriend of a year and a half, Brian. This starts a whole bunch of shenanigans that ultimately lead Breaker to the realization that he is in love, and has been in love, with Lia. What’s a man to do? Be the best Pickle of Honor of course! (Read the book, you have to find out about Pickle haha)
I laughed out loud so many times reading this book! I loved Breaker and Lia’s journey, their friendship, their history, everything about them. Breaker is all sexy alpha male, yet completely in tune with his nerdom. Lia is a dichotomy of confidence and vulnerability. I can’t tell you how many times I looked to see how much of the book was left, worried that it was almost over. There was always so much more left! Meghan Quinn creates the perfect amount of tension and plenty of plot movement to make any reader happy. You will have absolutely zero regrets after reading this book! Go read it now!

I was so excited to dive back into the world of the Kane brothers. Meghan always has me in a chokehold and this book was no exception! I loved this story so much. The characters were so funny, the plot was perfectly crafted, and the chemistry between the characters was perfection.
This book makes me fall right back in love with love. Meghan always manages to do that with each of her books, and seeing this love was really everything for me. This was easily the most well done Best Friends to Lovers trope that I've ever read and I literally cannot stop thinking about it.
Thank you NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I'd have to say that it's been a long time coming for this reader to pick up a book by Meghan Quinn. Such an apropos title proving once again just how talented a storyteller she is making me quite happy I decided to give her another go. This book delighted me from beginning to end. The main characters of Ophelia (Lia) and Breaker are charming nerds who truly get one another like no one else. Their decision on the night they meet to be friends even though it was apparent that Breaker wanted more is the start of one beautiful relationship that is now 10 years in the making. I loved that we got a glimpse of their first encounter all those years ago and now in the present, it's just so sweet, witty and adorable how in sync Lia and her Pickle continue to be. Their bestieship is full of wicked great humor, true selflessness when it comes to the other person and deep devotion to one another's happiness. But I just knew and perhaps hoped just a little bit more, that these two would finally open their eyes to see what was right in front of them and take that huge leap across the line they never dared even think of crossing and find their heart's desire once and for all.
Oh, how I loved these two. How I loved that Lia could trust Breaker with every deep dark secret or how she simply wasn't feeling the excitement she should for her rushed engagement and impending marriage to Brian. Just getting to witness the look on Breaker's face as he first sees Lia in a wedding dress and how that becomes the trigger for him to grasp his deep-held feelings that he shoved away all those years ago to simply be the friend Lia then needed, was the moment I craved. And then from there, with the help of his brothers Huxley and JP and their wives, Breaker makes it his mission to shake Lia's world so she realizes that Breaker is most definitely the man for her.
Humor is abundant as Breaker is truly beside himself with hearts in his eyes, just wanting to be near his bestie in a whole new way. His time with Lia is always fun as they share their love of board games and truck tacos as well as a rapport that is unmatched for either of them. Everyone else in their lives could see how well they fit together and once Breaker is on board, the way he goes about charming the pants off his girl made me swoon like a fool. Although I haven't read the first two books in the Cane Brothers series, I have a feeling that Breaker is the brother who has it all. Sure they are all billionaires but they act like any trio of brothers who both support each other and give each other grief when needed. But Breaker proves time and again that he is the thoughtful and most sensitive of the bunch and holy cow that just makes him that much more irresistible. How Lia has kept him in the friend zone all this time is anyone's guess.
The book also has illustrations of certain moments throughout and I loved how well they captured the feelings that Breaker and Lia were experiencing. These drawings added the right touch and allowed me to enjoy their journey that much more.
I truly lost myself in the pages of this well-written book, not wanting it to end and smiling like a fool when that epic epilogue ended. This friends-to-more story features incredible characters, a love that was more than meant to be and well-placed humor that had me laughing out loud. But the tenderness. The scenes of apprehension. Of long-held desire. Those were beautifully told and gave this book the rich emotion I can't help but love. Not to mention how appreciative I am that Quinn gave me just enough of Huxley, Lottie, JP and Kelsey to understand their own dynamics despite me not reading their books. Therefore, I never felt lost like I was just dropped into the middle of a storyline like other authors like to do. Again, proving that Meghan Quinn is one heck of a great writer.
A Long Time Coming is a must-read for not only the Quinn faithful but for anyone who wants to experience true love that while fated, is wildly endearing as well. I'm fully enthralled with Breaker and Lia and the joy they now have as soulmates forever and ever.
A big thank you to Bloom and Netgalley for allowing me to read this perfect gem.
5++ huge stars!

I loved Breaker and Lia's story so much and I've really been enjoying this series!
I'm a sucker for friends to lovers and this story was done beautifully. I also felt like this was a bit of a slow burn but it was well worth it!
I don't have much else to say but to just READ IT

What a phenomenal 5-star book! ⭐ I know, I know, you might be thinking, "A 5 stars REALLY?" But let me tell you, this book ticks all my boxes for a perfect read. It's the kind of book that I couldn't put down, with the effortless and engaging conversations between our main characters, Breaker and Lia, adding just the right spice. 🌶️ And let's not forget about the plot – it had me wondering, "How is this going to turn out?" Meghan Quinn delivered beyond my expectations.
I must admit, I was a bit anxious at first, concerned about Lia being engaged and all, but thank goodness, there's no cheating trope here. Every moment of the story was pure bliss. Without giving anything away, let me assure you that this book captures all the emotions you crave in a friends-to-lovers, or in this case, a best friend-to-lover tale. Whether it's Quinn's writing style, the casual conversations, or the modern world references, everything adds up to create an authentically enjoyable experience. Honestly, if Meghan Quinn writes it, count me in – this book is another gem for my literary shrine. Loved every bit of it! 💖

I waited for so long for Breaker, and it was worth it. Breaker is everything I knew he’d be. It’s always the youngest child. Meghan Quinn truly is the best author out there, and she writes friends to lovers SO well. I absolutely adored this book.

HOLY HOTNESS... Lia and Breaker have been friends since college... 10 years later, Lia is engaged to be married to Brian... Breaker finally figures out his true feelings... the 🌶.... wowza. Bought this book and the rest of the series!!

A Long Time Coming is the third book in the Cane Brothers series from Meghan Quinn. It's one of my favorite books of hers I've read and has my favorite trope, friends to more.
Meghan did an excellent job building up the friendship between Lia and Breaker so you really feel the bond and love between them. When their relationship begins to grow and change it felt natural because they were already so close. From the blurb I knew it wasn't going to be easy but they definitely found their HEA.
The story and characters hooked me from page one with the scene where we see how they first met in college. I had a hard time putting the book down and loved the humor, romance, and connection between Lia and Breaker. This book and series are all great reads, and I can't recommend Meghan's books enough!

Another page turner Meghan Quinn book! Breaker and Lia have been best friends for a decade. Lia gets engaged to her boyfriend of a year but really needs her BF to be the buffer with her soon to be mother-in-law, THE BEAVE lol. Breaker would do anything for Lia and goes to all the wedding planning appointments with her and The Beave but the second he sees Lia trying on a wedding dress his deeply buried feelings for her hit him like a ton of bricks.
It's steamy, great banter and the perfect ending.
Highly recommend A Long Time Coming.
Thank you to Meghan Quinn, SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books, and Netgalley for the ARC!

I had a lot of fun reading this book. Super cute story and the pictures added a nice little touch. I definitely want to dive into other Meghan Quinn books!!
I received an ARC from Netgalley and the publisher.

My favorite Cane brother! He was more my speed, lol. He wasn't as controlling like the oldest, and he wasn't a wild child like the middle. And he was a nerd, too!
Breaker has been best friends (and ONLY best friends) with Lia. They met in college and had a mutual love for games. They live next door, and they have game nights all the time. They look great on paper. It's just that they're JUST friends. And also Lia has a boyfriend. Who just proposed. Who better to stand up with her than her best friend? Now her man-in-waiting.
Like all Meghan Quinn novels, of course, there's hilarity. And the friendship between Lia and Breaker is so good. He's been there for her for her good times and her bad times. Of course, he's going to help her out when she's planning a wedding with her soon to be "monster in law." It's what you do for your best friend, right?
Through the wedding planning process, things start to shift. (Of course, with some really, really outrageous moments. The veil. THE VEIL!!!!) We know what should be happening. But these two... it was so good waiting for them to get their heads outta their butts!
It's book three in a series, but you can really read this as a standalone.

This was unfortunately my least favorite out of this trilogy (or series, not sure if it is more books!). I definitely enjoyed it—the spice is on point, Meghan really knows how to write it. But I liked the characters in the other books better. Looking at it objectively as a standalone though, it is pretty solid.

I enjoyed this book for all of the heat it brought to the table with the friends to lovers storyline. I enjoyed watching the attraction unfold throughout this book, as Breaker came to the realization that he was in love with Lia while helping her deal with her upcoming wedding. I also thought that there were a lot of funny moments in this book, as well, and just loved the banter between these two characters. The author did a really great job of demonstrating the bond and history between these two characters.

“Sometimes the best relationship comes from a strong friendship as the foundation,”
I devoured,DEVOURED, this book in one day. This book had everything I love.
Friends-to-more ✔️
Laugh out loud moments ✔️
Loveable characters ✔️
Steamy moments that make you blush ✔️
I couldn’t have asked for a better book to end this wonderful series. This ties in wonderfully with the previous books, but stands out on its own. Since the introduction of Breaker, I knew I would love his book the most. I don’t think it gets any more swoon worthy than Breaker. He's the perfect combo of sexy and nerdy with a wholesome heart. He’s the perfect curated book boyfriend and if you are not convinced, just wait until you read the last ⅓ of this book 😉.
This story was perfect from beginning to end. My heart ached from all the built up tensions between Breaker and Lia and I got butterflies from the sweet moments they shared. This was the kind of romance that sweeps you off your feet and leaves you giddy with excitement. It has all the amazing elements of a romcom with a slow burn romance, ordinary moments loaded with chemistry, and of course the meddling side characters that are equally as invested as the reader.
Thank you to NetGalley and Source Books for the ARC

Best friends to lovers??? Sign me up!!
I actually ordered all three of the books in this series after reading this one! Easily one of the funniest and hottest love stories I’ve read in a while.
Maybe it’s because I married my best friend of 18 years but this story just hit me in all the right places. Well done to Meghan Quinn on her writing of this novel and thanks to NetGalley for the digital ARC for review.

This is my #1 romcom of the year! Meghan Quinn never fails to crack me up I will read everything she writes. I love both Lia and Breaker so much. They’re friends so lovers romance is perfection!!

Breaker is the man of dreams! Best friend to lover is always a favorite of mine. But once they broke up, and Breaker shows Lia how good of a lover he can be.. chefs kiss! I’m still blushing over it. This is my favorite of the Cane books. The characters were well developed, the unrealized pining was great, and the story was told with good pace.

Thank you NetGalley, Meghan Quinn, and Source Books Bloom Books for allowing me to review this ARC!
Lia and Breaker met in college and for the past ten years have been best friends. They do everything together. When Lia gets engaged, Breaker is less than happy and realizes maybe he does have more than just friendly feelings for her. When Lia starts wedding planning she starts feeling as though things don't feel right. When she ends the engagement, Breaker makes his move, because he has to give it a shot. He has to have her know how he feels for her.
This book was simply romance perfection! Male character that denies feelings but then realizes he loves female character, new found friends to lovers romance, and spice! The story plays out so well where there is never a dull moment, kept me continuously wanting to read and find out what happens, rooting for Breaker and Lia to realize they are meant to be! I just loved this book and would recommend to anyone who loves when the friend gets the girl of his dreams and they realize that while their friendship was amazing, being a couple is way better!

Love love love this book! Amazing story, great characters and everything else! Two best friends trying to get through life together ends up running into some strife in their love lives and depend on their friendship to get through it. Some love lost and new love found. It was definitely ‘A Long Time Coming’ ;)
