Thank you Netgalley for the ARC of this book. I enjoyed this book. The storyline and characters were well done. The story was fast paced and I love the bits of paranormal weaved into the story.

A captivating story filled with tragedy, suspense and the paranormal. Abby is a strong character and has much to overcome.
Many thanks to
Black Rose Writing and to Netgalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Corinne Malcolm Ibeling & R.I.Partridge does a great job in this mystery novel, it had a great overall feel to it. I was invested in the mystery that was going on and how the characters worked in the universe.

Overall, it is a decent book; it talks a lot about what Abby eats for lunch. So I kept hoping it would lead up to something outstanding, but it just touched the surface. I felt since it brought it up so much that, just maybe, it could have had something to do with the story. Abby was in a fire, and she has finally gotten out of the hospital and is living with her sister. She takes on the task of fixing up the rental her sister wants to rent out. It was left a mess, and it has a past. As Abby learns how to fix it up, she finds a possible relationship with Jack, who has been through some things the same as her, from ghostly stuff within the house's walls to solving a murder that occurred 60 years ago.
Abby tries to do good and comes to terms with her past.
I can understand why no one told Abby the truth, as she needed to come to terms with the answers given to her. I giggled at the wallpaper fiasco as I had never done it, but it didn't sound easy. I give her props on doing it.
It feels as though something was missing in making this book
5 stars, but I just can't put my finger on it. Later, it will come to me. I did like the paranormal aspect and how tough Abby ended up becoming.

I loved this book! The supernatural parts were weaved in so well that it felt plausible instead of fantasy. I fell in love with Abby and the twists were so good! The writing style left me wanting to keep reading late into the night. I really appreciated the balance of providing details and keeping the story moving.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Black Rose Writing for the eARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Not sure if this is part of a series? I found this to be an interesting book. Abby was hurt in a fire trying to save her twin boys. To me, it seemed like people didn't treat her as an adult-they never told her the truth after she was out of the hospital. At least it wasn't mentioned in the book. Abby helps her sister renovate an old house and becomes determined to find out the truth about the past of what happened in the house. She also meets Jack who also has scars and a past. I enjoyed reading this-and seeing how Abby overcame obstacles and grew to be strong again. 4 stars
