A great picture book explaining the importance of cousins in a kids life. Because cousins are our first best firiends.

This is a cute story about out of town cousins coming to town. The excitement and anticipation of waiting, to doing special activities with the cousins. This would be a great book for young readers who have out of town family coming to visit them to prepare them for their special visitors!

Is a fun book and remembering our days with cousins. When cousins came, we have more people to do battle, games and the likes. So very fun! With rhyming words for kids to get used to, this is a fun book to read, and imagine when our cousins are coming.

I absolutely love kids books especially when they are about real events. The Cousins are Coming was a great read to my kiddo before his cousins came down to visit. It was a great way to surprise him!

Gah, if that last rhyme had actually worked! This is a fun and very lively telling of a manic day children have when their cousins come over. It covers the whole gamut, from Monopoly (not mentioned by name, for obvious reasons) to water fun, to gawking at relatives in old photos, to eating your own weight in ice cream. Of course, it's a pure fantasy as nobody would ever have such a day, but it's something many would aspire to, I suppose – apart from the shorter one whose timid interjections and complaints for fear of being left out also pepper these pages. The illustrations are fine for this sort of thing, being bright and engaging for the very young, and while this has no major lesson or wonderful arc it's still very amenable fun, and put together as a narrative verse pretty well, for the majority.

had so much fun reading this book, the story is so adorable and the illustrations were so well done and charming, there’s so many little details in every page that I couldn’t stop but be mesmerized by it all. I will definitely be recommending it! Thank you netgalley and the publisher for this early copy

Read this book with my younger daughter and we absolutely loved it. As a family with lots of cousins we could really relate to the story! This made us think about all the fun times that we have when cousins come for sleepovers! We really enjoyed the rhyming and the beautiful illustrations that matched the story. We thought the dog was a bit like Pluto out Mickey Mouse. We would love to read more from this author.

This is the cutest book! I think that it would be a great one for an at home library. Even if you don't have family around, this would be great to show how some families are.

This book felt like one I would have read when I was growing up, but in a dated not nostalgic way. I really loved the idea of the book, but it was not a fun read. My 4 year old asked for a different book part way thru reading it.

This cute picture book celebrates the joy of spending time with cousins who live far away. The book covers lots of different common experiences and activities that cousins will have during their time together, and it brought back happy memories for me. The text doesn't always flow well, and I think that this would be better if the author hadn't tried to rhyme, but it's cute and sweet.

This was so cute. I’m a preschool teacher and my 3 yr olds loved it. They couldn’t stop laughing. It will definitely be passed around the school. Who doesn’t love it when cousins come over. Brings back memories of my cousins and sleepovers.
Thank you to NetGalley, author Kay Jones and publisher for this cute little children’s book

I absolutely loved the Cousins are Coming by author, Kay Jones. The story tells of the anticipation of waiting for family to arrive for a short stay. It’s very relatable as the children of differing ages run off to have fun, often with the littlest member of the group trailing behind. Throughout the story, we are invited to peek at the children as they play games, put on a production, engage in a water fight, have fun baking, and generally have a memorable action-packed day.

Illustrator, Peter Trimarco, supports the narrative well with a mixture of double- and single-page pencil drawings. I enjoyed the level of detail included that lets young readers tell their own story through the illustrations. I also liked the wide range of colors used that were varied but not too bright and overstimulating.

All in all, the story had a wonderful flow, although the last couplet didn’t quite rhyme and was a bit of an anticlimax. That said, I’m sure the intended audience would forgive this, if they even noticed it at all. The book is great for introducing young readers to rhyme, rhythm, and timing, and as I mentioned before, it tells of an experience that is quite common to many families. I also like how the book included character voices by adding little snippets of dialogue within the illustrations that were age appropriate for the character speaking them. Carers and toddlers alike will enjoy this book time and time again. It’s a deserved 5 out of 5 stars.

I adore this book! It brought back memories of growing up with many happy cousin visits and reminded me of all the good times my own children had with their cousins, as well! I could feel the anticipation with the characters at the beginning of the story. Finally, the joy of their arrival! The rhyming phrases give the pages even more happy bounce. I also loved the illustrations. The pages where the cousins were looking at old photographs was great! Loved the detail on those! And I laughed out loud at the "Who did it?" page! I highly recommend this book to anyone; kids and adults alike!
