While I wanted to love this and have seen SO MANY PEOPLE shouting its praises, it all felt flat to me. I understand I am not its target audience but I wanted to feel something for the main character. Alas I felt nothing and found her very dull throughout the entire thing.

I feel like maybe I would have liked it more if I understand more of the background mythology around golems and their significance to the Jewish faith. Unfortunately my ignorance must have led to a lack of appreciation for this one. I feel like those of the same faith will probably enjoy it a great deal, but at this point, it wasn't for me

What a truly fascinating story! The concept of the golem was incredible, and the way the author combined history, folklore and magical realism was executed perfectly.

I really enjoyed reading this book, and found it to be something completely different. The tone of the book was mostly YA, however it seemed to waver a bit in places. I felt like Vera would've been a stronger character if she was a bit more vengeful, since her sole purpose was vengeance.

Unique and intriguing story, definitely well worth a read - Particularly for fans of YA horror.

Really loved this story! It's clear so much work has gone into building this book. I can't say enough how invigorating and beautiful this story was written, with the author skilfully drawing together elements of folklore and history together to put together such a compelling plot. Adored Vera's character, as they came to terms with their bodily autonomy and the humanity of their existence. There was so much fury and despair and grief the author managed to vividly express, you could drown in it. Would wholeheartedly read anything by this author in the future!

This was a surprising favourite for me.
The premise of the story was quite unusual, and the mix of folklore and fantasy with historical fiction was done so well.

Great ya read to add to the mix!
