Their Last Resort by R.S. Grey is a captivating read that delves into the story of two resort workers, Cole and Paige, as they navigate their enemies-to-lovers journey amidst a storm. The book is filled with banter and wit, offering moments of laughter, yet some readers found the narrative to be somewhat disjointed, lacking a smooth flow and depth in its development. Despite this, the novel shines in portraying the evolving relationship between the main characters against the backdrop of a resort setting, adding a layer of intrigue and romance to the plot. With its engaging storyline and dynamic characters, Their Last Resort is a compelling read that keeps readers hooked from start to finish, making it a recommended choice for those who enjoy a blend of romance, humor, and a touch of drama.

A lighthearted, enemies to lovers romcom where the protagonists have absolutely nothing in common. Set at an exclusive resort in Turks and Caicos, the heroine Paige is a free spirited, fly by the seat of her pants kind of girl. In fact, taking the job of activity organiser was her idea of settling down. In contrast the hero Cole was a buttoned-down number cruncher with a penchant for spreadsheets, his parents were both accountants and it was only the thought of living the same kind of grey life that they did that had forced him into his one act of rebellion was doing hospitality at grad school which had led him to the colourful resort and an assistant manager’s position. On paper they are complete opposites but one solitary kiss months before and Cole had fell hook, line and sinker for Paige. Unfortunately for him, she was more enamoured with a toy-boy barman named Blaze.

I loved the concept of this story. I mean enemies to lovers trapped on a tropical isle in the face of a storm and when you throw in a group of preppers as guests, Their Last Resort should’ve been great. I even liked the hero and heroine especially Cole who was giving off definite Clark Kent vibes to Paige’s Lois Lane but while I enjoyed the banter between them, I didn’t really get any real spark of passion or any emotion from Paige towards Cole other than irritation. By the end of the book I felt Paige was simply looking for some action and, after Blaze washed out, it was any man in a storm or hurricane in this case. I so much wanted to love this book but can’t help but feel a bit let down and flat after finishing it so for that reason I’m giving it 3.5 stars.

Paige has spent her life looking for the next adventure as she explores the world one place at a time. When she found herself at Siesta Playa it was no longer about finding the next place to explore but to find a way to stay. When you combine a dangerous weather event, her job being her jeopardy and her antagonistic relationship with Cole the sparks are going to fly.

Cole is Paige’s opposite as where she is adventurous, he believes in following the rules. Even though she may infuriate him she also intrigues him and the one thing that can’t be disputed is she makes him feel alive. When circumstances force them together, he might just find out that being with her is all the adventure he could ever need.

The banter between them was humorous and the situations they find themselves in will finally force them to face the fact that they are meant to be lovers rather than adversaries.

I can't believe I am saying this about a RS Grey book! I am a MASSIVE fan and have read and loved every one of her previous books!

This book, I'm sorry I couldn't get into. First of all the characters, both Paige and Cole, I couldn't connect with them, I didn't understand their connection and chemistry.
Secondly the time frame, at times the plot jumped into flashbacks, and if I'm honest because off that, I believe, I lost any interest in their relationship. Any build up was lost.

What I did enjoy was the descriptions, like all of Rachel's books, the scenes, places and graphics were incredible.

Even though this book wasn't for me, I will definitely support and read future RS Greys books. Her writing is incredible.

Thank you to the author, netgalley and publishers for a copy of this e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

“What’s a superhero without a villain? If I died, he’d lose his plot.”
Their Last Resort was such a fun read! Cole Clark is the assistant director at Siesta Playa, he is by the book and serious. He is dedicated to his job and making sure Siesta Playa is running smoothly. Paige Young works in the excursions department and is free spirited. She loves being outside and running excursions for the hotel guests and is always ready to have fun.

Cole and Paige’s relationship was so fun. They constantly bickered, well Paige would bicker while Cole just stood near her. They had a nice rivalry going. However when Paige finds out that Cole is supposed to fire her their bickering becomes all too real. Maybe Cole actually does hate Paige and she always just thought it was joking? But when disaster strikes and they are forced to spend time in close quarters the truth comes out.
“Because every moment of my day is spent the same way. Hour after hour. Minute after minute. I want you, always.”

Every interaction they had I was laughing, their barbs were great and it was clear that even if they were opposites they were attracting!
“No more war. Wave your white flag.”

Thank you @authorrsgrey and @greyspromo for the ARC!

Cute romcom set on Turks and Caicos. This had everything I love about an RS Grey book. Laughter. Witty banter. A quirky heroine. The grumpy hero. I really enjoyed this book. Loved how the slow burn simmered. I enjoyed the tropical storm survival. Enjoyed the references in regards to the guests at the resort. It was a very cute book.

Their Last Resort by R.S. Grey was a cute, sweet, funny and delightful enemies to lovers story.
Paige and Cole’s chemistry was off the damn charts!
The banter between these two, the back and forth, is utterly hilarious. I don't remember the last time I've laughed that hard.
This story is so well written. RS Grey really did such a phenomenal job here. Both characters are endearing. I couldn't stop swooning. Even when they are being crazy, you can't help but giggle and fall even more in love.
I seriously can’t wait to start Caribbean Crush!

Thank You NetGalley and Montlake for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!

This was a cute and fun Island romp of a romance. I was swept away for an afternoon and I had a wonderful time.

Paige and Cole both work at a resort on a beautiful island. They had a missed opportunity to get together a few months back and have since been keeping their distance. But when a tropical storm hits and forces all the employees to double up in the hotel... they end up in an Only One Bed scenario that gets all our blood pumping.

I haven't read an R.S. Grey in a hot minute, so this was a nice little read to kick off the summer. I also listened to this on audio and the performances were fun and comedic and sultry all in one.

”Sometimes—okay, all the time—I look at Paige and think, God dammit, you’re the funniest person I’ve ever met. Simply existing near you makes my day that much better.”

She’s done it again, R.S. Grey has delivered another favorite for my collection. I will never tire of reading her books. Their Last Resort was set on a resort on the Turks and Caicos islands. I loved the tropical setting, it really made me want to take a vacation soon. Our main characters are coworkers at the resort and they live to “hate” each other. I laughed so much with this one.

Cole Clark falls first and hard and Paige Young is completely clueless. Her reactions to Cole had me chuckling. Here she is thinking he absolutely loathes her when all he can think about day after day is how much he loves her. It’s absolutely adorable. I really do enjoy when “he falls first”.

I loved the fun banter in this one. R.S. Grey is queen of banter - it’s what makes her romcoms so much fun to read. And when Paige finally realized that she’s had feeling for Cole for a while… I was smiling ear to ear.

“Every moment of my day is spent the same way. Hour after hour. Minute after minute. I want you, always.”

If you enjoy fun banter, frenemies, opposites attract, banter, amazing chemistry, he falls first, and… just one bed. Then I recommend you pick this one up. It’s a fun, light read and checks all these boxes and then some.

*A huge thanks to R.S. Grey and Grey’s Promotions for providing me with an eARC for review. All thoughts are my own.*

Overall this was cute, but definitely not a favorite of mine from R.S. Grey :(

* opposites attract & grumpy/sunshine
* he falls first
* forced proximity / one bed trope
* setting: Island resort
* slow burn
* dual POV

I can't quite pinpoint exactly why I didn't love this, but I feel like maybe it was the character and relationship development - it all felt too fast but also inconsistent? I can usually connect quickly to R.S. Grey's characters, but these two are very forgettable? I hate even saying that...

I was also confused with some of the timeline in the beginning - as I was listening, I thought I had missed something because the jump back in time was just so out of nowhere.

Overall, it's a quick easy and low-angst romcom that I give 3 stars!

This is Cole and Paige’s story.
Paige is a feisty, free spirit, who leads guest activities at a luxury resort, where Cole is the numbers guy and is assistant director at the resort. These two know how to push each other’s buttons, and on the day that Cole has been ordered to fire Paige, a hurricane hits the Caribbean.
This is a well written story which opposites attract, close proximity, action, enemies / lovers, emotions, humor, witty banter, combustible chemistry, engaging and realistic characters, drama, passion, and love, which leads to an entertaining, fun, unpredictable, light-hearted, and steamy addictive page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

I’ve been a fan of RS Grey’s writing for years. She writes some of the best inner monologues filled with realistic & hilarious self deprecating humor. While I didn’t love this one compared to her other work, I enjoyed my time here.

Their Last Resort is marketed as an enemies to lovers romance when really it’s more of a mutual “I like you & I don’t know what to do about it, so I’m going to nettle you instead.” This worked for me, especially since it’s clear that he falls first & is just bidding his time.

I’m always up for a destination setting & I love a romance set at a hotel / inn, so a resort set on Turks and Caicos really did it for me. The forced proximity brought on by a hurricane worked & I loved the only one bed tension that followed.

The timeline bounced around a bit at the beginning that left me occasionally confused & having to go back to reread. This is also fairly short which is great as it makes this a quick read, but the romance felt like it was lacking the depth Rachel usually brings leaving me not as connected with the characters.

I listened to this on audio & you can too if you have KU or snagged this as an Amazon first read in April. I loved the narrators & was able to finish this in only one day!

R.S. Grey consistently provides the perfect escape whenever I crave a book that seamlessly blends humor, fast-paced storytelling, and excellent writing. "Their Last Resort" was no different—it was thoroughly enjoyable.

Paige Young and Cole Clark, the main characters, embraced a friendship that they had been feuding upon their very first encounter. It oscillated between exquisite banter and entertaining quarrels to heated scenes embossed with unvoiced feelings and toe-curling chemistry. all in all, it was the prefect and most adequate refuge— plate-cleanser— after my last heavy, disappointing read.

many thanks to Grey’s Promotion and NetGalley for providing an arc in exhausting for an honest review.

Thank you Netgalley and R.S. Grey for this book in exchange for my honest review!

I flew through this book! I can always count on a R.S. Grey book to be filled with amazing banter, characters that have depth, steamy scenes and a beautiful ending and this book was no different. I loved Paige and her friend group as well as Cole’s rule following and sometimes uptight personality. Cole’s character was strong and it was cool to see his bravery unfold. Although I enjoyed this book, it felt a bit repetitive of other books by this author but I also know what I’m getting when I pick up one of her books!

You’d like this book if you like:
•just one bed
•enemies to lovers
•opposites attract
•frenemies
•tropical settings (Turks and Caicos)
•banter, chemistry and steam

Paige Young embraces adventure and new experiences, so when the chance arises to work in paradise, she seizes it eagerly. Settling into life on the picturesque island of Turks and Caicos, she finds herself immersed in the vibrant atmosphere of Siesta Playa, a luxurious resort where she oversees guest activities and hospitality.

Despite the idyllic setting, Paige's daily routine is disrupted by her tumultuous relationship with Cole Clark, the assistant director of operations. From their initial clash to a memorable but unacknowledged kiss, their dynamic is characterized by rivalry and tension. Paige thrives on spontaneity and fun, while Cole is a disciplined workaholic, adhering strictly to rules and routines.

Their constant bickering and opposing personalities make them unlikely allies, yet circumstances force them to spend more time together. As they navigate unexpected challenges, will they finally confront the underlying feelings buried beneath their animosity?

"Their Last Resort" by R.S. Grey is a captivating beach romance filled with simmering chemistry and irresistible banter. The slow-burn narrative explores themes of rivals-turned-lovers and opposites attracting, delivering a delightful and flirtatious read that kept me thoroughly entertained.

*3.5

I liked the book once they were actually together. A lot of the book was kind of boring though. I think we needed a bit more of Cole's pov. I've read another book by this author and I really liked it so I'll just look out for the next one.

I received an arc from grey's promotion.

I’m a huge RS Grey fan, but this book, while fun, fell a bit flat for me. It did have its cute and funny moments, but felt a bit chaotic at times. I did like Cole, our mmc, but there were just silly and unrealistic happenings at the resort. I feel like a Turks and Caicos would have some pretty upscale resorts. The Preppers? That was a strange addition.
Anyway, this would be a quick book to read at the beach or the pool.

I love an RS Grey novel, so I was excited to jump into this one. I loved the island vibe and the setting of a hotel where we get to see all the ins and outs of the day to day running it along side Paige and Cole. I loved the personality differences, and the side characters of the other staff members. The banter was always fresh and funny, a signature of RS Grey that always has me coming back. I will say, the pacing of this one felt slightly off. There was a lot of tension and build up and then I felt like it was over too soon. But that is sort of how a slow burn is supposed to go, and slow burn this was!

I really liked Cole’s character a lot. I wish we got a few more chapters from his POV. Paige was alright, but very immature. Maybe because I am 40, I might be further removed from the dating in my 20s, but it just seemed to me that she made some very rash/emotional decisions and was immature overall.

Another thing that bothered me was the way the villain was portrayed in this story. He should have just been a slimy character in action, but the main thing that was focused on in ever encounter with him was his eating habits and his weight. It was almost like all villains are known to be overweight or something? I don’t know, it rubbed me the wrong way. I have never been offended by anything from this author previously, so I hope this character was a one off.

Bottom Line: Overall, it was a fun read to kick off summer! I had a hard time putting it down, and finished it in less than 24 hours.
