Book 7 in the DCI Rob Miller series. Another great addition to the series ! Totally gripping from the first page to the last with a massive twist ! Looking forward to the next one!

I love a novel that is in a series but can be read as a stand-alone. I like not being tether to having to read everything to understand what is happening, this novel was fun, suspenseful and I didn’t see what was coming!

This is book 7, though I've not read this author before so the story does stand alone. I'd like to go back to the beginning to discover more about the characters.
A woman's body is found in the river, was it an accident, suicide or murder? The husband seems the likely killer. I really enjoyed the investigation, the gathering of clues and reading in the minds of the investigators.
A wonderful story of mystery and intrigue. The characters were well developed and I was thoroughly invested in their lives.
Can't wait to read more from this author.

Biba Pearce writes a great police procedural with her DCI Rob Miller who is instantly likeable. This seems like a simple murder, a young woman who left a party and never made it home. They are expecting this to be sexual crime but they couldn't be more wrong. This was one of those books where I was shouting at the cops to check out certain things. I love a book I can really get absorbed into and can try to work out the clues that will lead to the murderer. In this story I had worked out the why but not the who, their identity turned out to be a total shock. An enjoyable read, I look forward to the next one.

When you mix romance and crime it's easy to lean to far towards one or the other, Biba Pearce does a great balancing act and keeps the story even. Her characters are hard and soft when they have to be. The story line evolved as it progressed. Perfect!

This is the first read from this author, and I enjoyed the plot, however, I do wish the authors would not bring in DCIs that have been on gardening leave for something or other and the Met of all police forces makes the Oxford police look silly.
A lot is going on in the plot, first a missing person, then 3 weeks down the line a murder. Debbie was last seen at a fundraising party turns out that she was indeed murdered but she was just an ordinary person so why would somebody want her dead?
Quite a few players including the controlling husband, so no shortage of suspects.

This is the fourth book that I have read in this series and after the gripping ending on book five I was eager to see were the characters were at.

This book picks up the thread nicely from were the series last left,

Rob is a great character and the camaraderie he has with his team is one of best parts of the series in particular the new edition.

Another fast paced police procedural filled with suspense, intrigue and detail that brings the pages to !ife.

A really exciting and enjoyable story. I loved this one. Its full of police procedures which could put the reader off but, I found them fascinating. Worth more than 5 stars. My thanks to netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

Joffe Books is one of the finest publishers of crime mysteries that I have come across in my many years of reading the genre. I'm glad to see their authors featured on Netgalley and intend to focus heavily on their works published over next year. That being said, this is my first Biba Pierce book. Yes, I know. It won't be my last, for sure!
The Marlow Murders is seventh in the DCI Rob Miller series. I would recommend going back to the series start but this book missed nothing and I was able to follow the thread of characters quite easily. It's time. After a hiatus from detective work, DCI Rob Miller is called back to the job when the body of a young woman is discovered, presumed drowned. Still troubled by the attack on his partner Jo, there's no room for second guessing or error. The case will take this detective all he has in the days up to Christmas as the suspects are to be handled very carefully and his career hangs in the balance.
Excellent storyline and thoroughly enjoyable mystery. It left me wanting more from the author. I'm looking forward to tackling her backlist and the next in this series will be much anticipated.

I tried to review this book on GoodReads and Amazon, but unfortunately, it looks like it's been removed.

I was hesitant when I read the warning about the book being in British English, because I've had issues with other British-crime books. In general, I find the British use "flowery" language that doesn't bode well for crime fiction. However, that was not the case with The Marlow Murders. It was fast-paced--perhaps a little too fast-paced toward the end. I felt like the revelations came out very quickly, and although there was a bit of a twist at the end, my head was like "Wait, how'd we get here this quick?"

This was the first time I read a book by this author, and there were a few times I had a feeling I'd enjoy the book better had I read the earlier books--and I definitely would read more by this author.

Miller gets the call and soon is back at work with his team of DS Jenny Bird, DS Harry Malhotra, DS Will Freemont and DC Celeste Parker, assisted by the very intuitive young PC Victor Trent from Marlow. The post mortem soon proves Debby Morris was murdered and with a strong suspect in the cells, it looks like case closed. But what if they have the wrong man? With all eyes on the team and a host of influential people involved, all of whom are lying, Miller knows they cannot afford any more mistakes and vows to get it right, even if that means keeping Supt Mayhew in the dark.
This is an excellent police procedural and a great addition to a smashing series. The plot is clever and full of surprises, and features a very likeable team of detectives, especially Trent who I think we will be seeing more of. I thoroughly enjoyed it and can recommend it for anyone who wants a gripping read to keep them completely hooked!

Another excellent Rob Miller book from Biba Pearce. I read this ARC copy on holiday in Corfu and commented on Biba’s Facebook post to say how much I was enjoying reading it. I was flabbergasted when she replied to thank me and wish me a great holiday!
The plot of this book, as I’m come to expect from this series, is tight and complex. There are also references back to previous cases and novels that mean it is essential you have read all the books. A great read I would highly recommend.

Debby Morris goes missing from a party and is eventually found dead. We get to follow law enforcement piece together clues to figure out what happened. Of course along the way more things happen that changes everything.

This one had a LOT of characters and takes place in the UK so some of the titles of the people I didn’t 100% know. The author includes a glossary of words at the end that was helpful!

The overall story was great and fast paced with twists and secrets being revealed along the way! But all the characters and the whole government/legal/political side of the book wasn’t for me!

I just hopped into this series and the reason I want to go back to earlier ones is because I've somehow become invested in the characters and their backstory. NOT because it can't stand alone.
The murder business is as complicated as the police politics in this one. The murder squad from the Met is told that they will handle a case which is in the Thames Valley jurisdiction. Add in that both the DCI and DI are on shaky ground in their careers and the situation is even more tense. Relief in the investigation comes in the form of an astute young constable from Thames valley who vomits at the scene of every body they find. The investigation makes several wrong turns but keeps on working the cases until they get it right. Absolutely loved it!

This was a fast and easy read. It was a police procedural set near London. There were several crimes here to be solved, and this was done mostly by figuring out the backgrounds of the people involved and through supposition of their motives, rather than by acquiring crime evidence. Though the author had devised quite creative backstories to make the elements of the plot all come together, the story wasn’t especially riveting. Similarly, there is little in the way of characterization or the relationships of the key players, so I didn’t feel engaged in their lives. However, I was new to this series and read this book (which is seventh in the series) as a stand-alone. Presumably people reading the series would feel more connection with the protagonist and his team.

This is #7 in the DCI Rob Miller series and it was great to be back with him, his team, and his family. It can easily be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend reading the whole series!

Debby Morris was last seen at the Christmas party of a charity, held in Hollyhock Manor. Her phone, bag, and fancy dress hat are found near the Thames in Marlow, then her body is later found in the river, several miles downstream.

Lots of high profile people were at the party and they’re not all honest about Debby’s last known movements. Rob starts to look at the party planner, but then she is murdered in her own home.

If you like a police procedural thriller that is accurate and gripping, then you’ll love this.
