This was such a good thriller! I loved the creepy house vibes and the weird child. It added a layer of mystery and I thought the book was going one way with it and it did not. I enjoyed how I truly didn’t know what happened to the nanny until the end. It was fast paced and I had trouble putting it down. I really liked the FMC and the way she approached the case and questioned things. As someone who works doing child custody evaluations, I thought Pekkanen did a nice job highlighting the challenges an evaluator has thinking about the best interests of the child and dealing with challenging family dynamics. Definitely recommend checking this book out! 4⭐️

: A twisty, atmospheric thriller about family secrets and lies, with a creepy DC mansion setting. Gripping and suspenseful!
This one kept me on the edge of my seat, and had megoing back-and-forth on who done it

House of Glass is a tense and addictive psychological thriller that kept me hooked from the first chapter. Sarah Pekkanen delivers a story full of layered characters, buried secrets, and perfectly timed twists that made me question every motive. I especially appreciated the atmospheric writing- it felt like the house itself was a character, amplifying the suspense.

Thank you so much to NetGalley, Sarah Pekkanen, and St. Martin's Press for an e-arc!
House of Glass is a story about a nanny who fell to her death while babysitting for a young child who collects sharp objects and refuses to talk, and the lawyer who must navigate the complicated dynamics of a dishonest family in order to discover what truly happened.
Rose Barclay is the nine-year-old daughter of a wealthy family. Things were already not going well as her parents were getting divorced, but then she witnessed (or was possibly involved in) the murder of her nanny. Stella Hudson is the best interest attorney who is appointed to serve as counsel for children involved in custody cases.
As soon as Stella gets involved, she begins to suspect something is wrong. The Barclays’ lives are not as happy and tidy as they would have others believe. Furthermore, Rose collects sharp objects and as a result, the house has been altered to be made entirely of plastic, with not a single piece of glass around. Everyone is suspicious when it comes to the nanny’s murder: the mother, the father, the grandmother, the nanny’s boyfriend, and most disturbingly, Rose herself. Does Stella need to protect Rose from her family, or is Rose herself the danger?
This was a solid thriller! I love a creepy kid trope and Rose was certainly unsettling. As far as Stella, I thought her profession as a best interest attorney was admirable—I had never heard of that role before and it was interesting to learn about. If I could change anything about House of Glass, I would just want it to be a bit more twisty. However, I did enjoy it overall and I would recommend it to thriller readers!

I liked this! A fun little "who did it" book and I enjoyed it.. A little longer than it needed to be and tended to drag on a bit but overall a good read.
Thank you publisher and NetGalley for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

This book started strong, and then fizzled out about halfway. I think it tried too hard to be mystical and deep, and it just...wasn't. 3 stars.

House of Glass explores dark secrets that can infiltrate a family. The metaphor of the house being used as how fragile exposing your secrets are, gave the family a complex feel. Although the book is full of twists and turns, House of Glass began to feel a little loose as the story began heading towards the thriller perspective. The ending felt a little too over the top to try to tie the story together. I enjoyed the multi-narrator perspective and psychological thriller elements that explores loyalty, trust, and family.

In House of Glass, a young nanny dies from a fall or a push or a jump. Was she killed? A nine year old girl, Rose Barclay, has not spoken since the accident, and is dealing with her parents splitting up and who will get custody. Stella Hudson is a best interest attorney, appointed to serve as counsel for children in custody cases. She never accepts clients under thirteen due to her own traumatic childhood, but Stella's mentor, a revered judge, believes Stella is the only one who can help. She reluctantly takes the case and not only has to determine what is in Rose's best interest, but ends up in the middle of determining what happened to the nanny. The house itself seems to be hiding things, with no glass anywhere. Rose, collects glass wherever she can. The more answers Stella guesses at, the more questions she has. The more she digs, the more danger she puts herself in. How did the nanny die, and who was responsible?
I have enjoyed several Sarah Pekkanen books, and this was another gripping story. It is a combination mystery and thriller and is full of unreliable narrators. Stella has to wade through a lot of bull to find what is true in this family. At times, even Rose was a suspect. The story starts slowly and I wasn't sure if I would like it, but when it picks up, I read and listened every moment I could. The twists that came near the end has my jaw drop, I never would have suspected. I don't want to give anything away, so will stop there. With her skill at developing characters, Sarah Pekkanen gave us 5 people that seemed real. Did I like them all? Definitely not. I thought her parents, especially her mom to be selfish and were both hiding things. Her grandmother was the one who cared for Rose, homeschooled her, and was worried about her mental health. Stella is a great character. She always worked in the best interest of Rose, and tried hard to communicate with her. I felt bad for Rose. Not knowing if she was the one responsible for the nanny's death or not, I was always worried about who might be next. I highly recommend this book in whatever format you enjoy.

House of Glass is a suspenseful and easy to read thriller with plenty of twists. Sarah Pekkanenkerps the story moving with secrets that slowly unfold and keep you guessing.

This book had so many twists & turns! I was convinced I knew what happened so many different times & was completely wrong in both the main character’s life & her clients! Will definitely be checking out more from this author.

The first half of the story feels like your glued to the pages, with such can't put down energy I had high hopes and was getting all the eerie house type of vibes. I was so intrigued, then the second half stalled out and it fell just short for me. While I was excited to get to know Stella, if felt like we lost some of the opportunity to learn more about the larger story in the minutia.

Wow! House of Glass was the most addictive story I’ve read in a while. I could not put it down and finished within 24 hours. The author does an incredible job at making the reader suspect all characters in the book as being suspicious. There were so many threads that connected and the execution of the twists were well done. Cannot wait to read more by this author! Thank you to St. Martin’s Press for the ARC!

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an arc copy of the book. From page 1, I was curious as to where the story was going. You are reading from the perspective of Stella, whose job it is to help Rose in every way possible. Not only is she helping Rose in the case of her parents child custody, but she is helping solve the murder of her Nanny. This book keeps you turning the page, and wanting to find out what happened to Tina.

First book by Sarah Pekkanen and definitely wont be my last! Everyone in the entire family in this book became a suspect when a murder occurs in the mysterious mansion they live in and their child goes mute due to the trauma of it. Your immediate instinct is to want to help the child and get her safe, but she just may be her own worst enemy.
This book gave so many emotions, frustration, anger, sadness, empathy....but also keeps you guessing. Some pribably found it easy to figure out but even if you think you have it, there will always be another possibility of who done it in the back of your mind you cannot completely rule out. There are 2 story lines but I enjoyed how the author ties them in together but I do feel the book could have been summed up in a lot less chapters. It seems as if it took forever to just get the result you were waiting for. A few personal moments of with the main character who is the child's attorney, could have been left out as they were a bit too superfluous. I appreciated the short chapters, but wish there were fewer of them.
Overall I will always recommend this book and I did enjoy the craziness of it and the attention to childhood trauma and its effects. Looking forward to checking out Sarah's next book!

This was…weird. It was enjoyable, and spooky, and disturbing. I didn’t want to put it down. But every character in the family was disturbing. Maybe that’s the hallmark of a good novel.

House of Glass was a compelling and emotionally charged read that kept me hooked from beginning to end. I loved how Sarah Pekkanen skillfully explored complex family secrets and the impact of past choices. The characters felt real and relatable, with their struggles adding depth to the story. It was a beautifully written novel that combined suspense and heartfelt moments in a way that stayed with me long after finishing

Spooly and mysterious, this book had me turning pages late into the night to finish it. This author is a solid go-to for psych thrillers with plausible twists and fully realized characters.

I don’t usually go for domestic suspense, but this one kept me interested. It’s a bit slow at times, and some of the characters got on my nerves, but overall it was a quick and easy read.
I liked Stella as a character, though some of her parts felt a little out of place and maybe not totally necessary. Still, I enjoyed the mystery and how the secrets came to light.
The ending felt a bit rushed and wasn’t quite what I expected, but it tied things up well enough. I’d recommend it to fans of this author or anyone who enjoys a twisty domestic suspense.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the review copy!

Really enjoyed. Kept me guessing until the end. I was shocked in the best way and couldn’t not put it down! I needed to know how it would end.

House of Glass by Sarah Pekkanen is a tense, emotional thriller about a child advocate unraveling a family's dark secrets. Fast-paced and atmospheric, though some twists feel predictable.
