Not my favorite book by the author. I had so many thoughts on Rose throughout the book. I will say the grandma was straight-up messed up and the things she did to Tina and Stella to mess with their heads was loony. The side story of Stella and her family drama with Charles I could have done without but see how it connects to Rose. This had some good twists but I am not a big fan of using children as potential murderers.

House of Glass is hands down my top pick for thrillers this year! What a find! Following Stella, an attorney, navigating a complex case involving a mute 9-year-old, Rose, amidst a backdrop of tragic events, had me hooked from the start. With echoes of Stella's own past trauma, the suspense builds with every turn of the page. The atmosphere of the family home is chillingly described, adding to the tension. Sarah Pekkanen's masterful storytelling kept me on the edge of my seat, eagerly anticipating each twist and turn. I absolutely adored this book and can't wait to pass it on to my husband! Huge thanks to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press, and Sarah Pekkanen for the opportunity to dive into this gripping read!

First I would like to thank Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC. What a fun and exciting thriller read. It had so many good thriller elements: fun, creepy, page-turner and lots of twists. Also, I thought the title of this book is perfect.

I loved the creepy vibes this book gave off. The whole family (Beth, Ian, Rose and Harriett) all gave me the creeps at some point and it was even like the house was a character.

It was an easy quick read that I really enjoyed. I couldn’t put the book down and flew through it.

I think sometimes Stella made some poor decisions which I didn’t agree with but I found the book fun and engaging.

It was a very solid 4.5/5 stars and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a good thriller read. #netgalley #houseofglass #stmartinspress

House of Glass is by far my favorite thriller of the year thus far! What a gem!

We follow Stella, an attorney, is asked to work a complicated case for a mute 9-year-old Rose, who became mute only after the tragic death of her nanny at their home. Her death comes after finding out about and affair she and the husband were having which results in a divorce. Due to the odd circumstances, Stella has to make the decision: who will get custody of Rose? And how can she know she is sending her with a parent that’s not guilt?

Stella suffered a similar tragic event with her mother’s death as a child, in which she also because mute temporarily due to this trauma. Once she starts this job and from that point on you just cannot put this book down! You follow small pieces of Stella’s personal life and her dedication to helping Rose no matter the conclusions she comes to about the death of the nanny.

The family home is only described best as dark and uninviting, you can picture the uncomfortable feelings Stella feels during her visits.

I felt my heart rate increase so many times through this book. I felt uneasy and anxious to get to the next chapter every time one ended. Sarah Pekkenan always does such a good job at leaving you wanting the next page! I absolutely loved this book and can’t wait to convince my husband to read it next!!

Thank you so so much to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press and Sarah Pekkanen for this advanced copy in exchange for my fully honest opinion! 🫶🏼📚

This was a really good read!!! Is she a loving mother in law or a crazy one?? I really like that the women were presented as strong characters. Character development was on point. Sarah Pekkanen doesn’t let you down!!!!!

Arc was kindly sent to me by the publisher St. Martins Press!

This was almost a five star read for me, I’d give it a 4.75! It had such a sinister feel, and I couldn’t put it down.

In this book we’re following Stella, a best interest attorney for 9 year old Rose caught in the middle of her parents divorce amid the murder of her nanny.
Stella is also battling her own demons in regards to a tragedy that happened in her own past.
Not everything is as it seems, and everyone is hiding something.

A great page turner that kept me guessing. I did not guess the ending. I am sometimes worried about thriller books with children but I didn't find it too dark.

I genuinely enjoyed this book! The author set the stage for an atmospheric thriller and delivered compelling characters and a solid mystery.

This book follows Stella, a guardian ad litem who is tasked with a challenging case- recommending custody for a child whose parents are divorcing after the suspicious death of her nanny, Tina. As Stella tries to uncover the truth behind Tina’s death, she discovers that no one is above suspicion in a mysterious house where glass is no longer allowed.

This book was extremely readable- it grabbed my attention from the first chapter. While I did find the ending a bit predictable, I was glad to be along for the ride. Stella was a sympathetic but strong character- I was rooting for her throughout! I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a spooky mystery.

Stella Hudson's story deserves to be continued into a series - i didnt move for 3 hours and read this book in one sitting. #pleasewriteasequel

She’s an attorney who works with children (guardian ad litem). She only deals with teens due to her traumatic childhood - and takes a special case working for a child named Rose and her family. Stellas perfects cognitive incision in her interviews and conversations throughout the book with everyone in her new case.
Add this to your TBR now, and thank me later when you read it ❤️
There’s nothing better than a page-turning book written by a brilliant female author than the main character being an intelligent, intuitive, badass woman.

First, I want to say I am a big Sarah Pekkanen fan, so when I had the chance to read this book, let me tell you, I was so happy!

Here, we have the golden family with the perfect life, but look inside closely, and you will find the perfect house of lies.

The House of Glass started out as a great whodunit until a second storyline was introduced. Unfortunately, that's when I kind of lost interest, and the story started to drag on for me.

This was definitely not one of my favorites by Sarah Pekkanen, but I will definitely keep reading her books!

Sarah Pekkanen has always been one of my favorite authors, her books never disappoint. House of Glass is no exception. It is very well written but very descriptive characters and vivid plots. A classic "who done it" with Pekkanen's own personal twist. The ending will have you mesmerized. If you want a quick read that you can't put down, then House of Glass is the book for you.

Oh, Wow! Where do I start with this amazing story? I'm just going to say you Must read this suspenseful thriller!! You will not regret my recommendation to do so. Sarah has a way to make you feel like you're right there in this story standing next to or in the room with the MC's.
I cherished this book, taking my time to absorb every single word and second it was just that good! If you like a mystery/who done it's read this ASAP.

This is my best read of 2024!

This mystery/thriller is described perfectly in the synopsis. Stella Hudson is a lawyer, specifically, a guardian ad litem who represents children when the adults around them have gone a bit haywire. She usually works with teenagers, but an unusual case comes her way: a nine-year-old girl witnessed the death of her nanny, and hasn’t spoken since.

Stella is brought in because Ian and Beth Barclay are the parents of this child, Rose, and they are in the middle of a nasty divorce. Ian was having an affair with Tina, the nanny who had an unfortunate incident with a window. Did she fall, or was she pushed? Rose may be the only one who has the answer to that question, but her traumatic mutism means she can’t tell anyone what she saw.

Stella is a great character; we find out that she also had traumatic mutism as a child, and her backstory is compelling. It’s little Rose who stole the show, though. Without her saying a word, the author still lets us communicate with the girl, verbally painting a picture of her eyes, body language and actions. Whether she’s simply a traumatized child, or a young murderer who killed her nanny, she’s still a little girl who is suffering.

The writing in this is fantastic, and it took the murder-mystery trope of a wealthy family with secrets to another level. The characters were great, even those who played a small role in the story. I did figure out the ending, but it was still fun to read everything coming to the perfect conclusion, and there were several smaller twists that I didn’t see coming at all. Overall, I think most mystery fans will enjoy this one - four stars!

(Thank you to St. Martin’s Press, Sarah Pekkanen and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my review. This book is slated to be released on August 6, 2024.)

The book follows an attorney as she works to make custody recommendations for an only child, Rose. There’s also a much more interesting subplot. Secondary storyline is a whodunit murder/mystery.
I don’t think the two storylines connected well together.

Also. The ending? It just wrapped up in a perfect little bow with not much of any explanation.

I was so excited to receive this book from NetGalley. This one was very gripping and I couldn’t put it down. Loved every second of it.

I was thrilled to receive an arc of this book! I have usually enjoy Sarah Pekkanen’s books, however I wasn’t completely in love with her last book but this one was a redemption FOR SURE! I loved it! I truly enjoy a good whoodunit and the way that it filters through each suspect for me was “chefs kiss”. The only reason I wouldn’t give it the full five stars is because I figured out about the twist with Stella’s life before they revealed it. Other than that I would definitely recommend this book!

Thank you so much to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for sharing this digital arc in exchange for my honest review!

As an avid Sarah Pekkanen fan, I was very excited to receive this advanced copy!

The premise is intriguing and the mansion is for sure creepy, but overall this book was a miss for me. I feel that there was so much Stella and her background as a child that the plot with the main story and the nanny gets lost. I did not guess the plot twists which were good, but overall the story left me wanting more.

WOW 4 ⭐️! A gripping whodunit that I devoured. I loved the short chapters and creepy house vibes. I felt like I was in “Clue” investigating alongside the main character, which was so fun. It really kept my attention and kept me guessing until the end.

Although the ending wasn't completely shocking, it was very satisfying. Definitely pick up this book when it’s published in August 2024!

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for sharing a digital review copy. ❤️

This was a truly great great read. It’s a modern Gothic, with an appropriate “haunted house, evil witch, trapped princess.” The rescuer is Stella Hudson who is appointed guardian for a little girl, suffering from traumatic mutism in the middle of her parents custody fight after a killing in her home.

It all works! In the background is Stella’s own story and a modern fairy godperson who has played a role in her own life.

The author updates these elements, creates a winning story and a heroine who might make her way into future books.

I think my readers will enjoy this. Thank you Netgalley for this unexpectedly fast moving and compelling tale.
