Stella is a Best Interest Attorney for Rose Barkley, a child caught in the middle of a divorce and the murder of her nanny. Stella's investigation follows all the twists and turns of long buried family secrets and a family in which no one is what they seem.
A fast-paced twisty mystery that had me guessing until the end. I really enjoyed the writing style and insights into each character.
3.5 out of 5 ⭐️

I devoured this book in less than a day because it was so captivating. There's something about a chilling tale involving children that really grabs your attention, and this one delivers.
The plot twists in this story took me by surprise, yet they remained plausible. I was consistently engaged, always receiving just the right amount of information to keep me hooked, which is a key element for me in a great thriller: impeccable pacing.
My focus never wavered; every detail felt significant, and I genuinely enjoyed the experience! I'll definitely be adding a pristine copy to my library as soon as it's released

When the nanny of a wealthy family mysteriously dies after a fall out of a window in the family estate, the families child, Rose, goes silent.
As part of Rose's parents pending divorce and custody battle, Stella, a BIA (best interest attorney), sets out to discover what custody situation will be best for Rose and report back to the judge.
Upon Stella's arrival, Rose's behavior becomes increasingly concerning and disturbing. Having had childhood trauma herself, Stella is determined to heal Rose and get to the bottom of what truly happened to her Nanny.
House of Glass sucks you in from the very first chapter. Throughout the read, Pekkanen does an expert job of twisting a web of lies and deceit that leaves you questioning what you truly believe.
Completely unputdownable, dark, and complex, House of Glass is perfect for reads of Jennifer Hillier, Freida McFadden, and Heather Gudenkauf.
4.5/5

Stella’s job is to advocate for children in divorce proceedings. When she’s faced with a young client with traumatic mutism after a nanny is murdered, she must decide who, if anyone, is the safest guardian for Rose. Is there a safe guardian when it may be the child who is the most dangerous?
A wonderfully twisty thriller with interlaced storylines that will have you flying through it. A must read for anyone looking for a suspenseful novel that will grip you until the very last page.
Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC in exchange for a fair review.

This book was a fast paced thriller that kept the reader guessing until the end. Really enjoyable and easy to follow with twists and turns at every page.

Four stars because this was a fast book that kept me on my toes, but there were a few things that didn't work for me. Some of the characters' relationships just felt off.
Stella is a best interest attorney and a trauma survivor. She works as a representative for the child(ren) in custody cases. But never a child under 13, until 9 year-old Rose.
Rose is the only child of a divorcing couple and she has traumatic mutism. She was there when her nanny fell to her death from an upper window. Was it murder? An accident? Rose knows, but she's (literally) not talking.
This story is full of people being shady and deceitful. Sometimes it's to protect people they love and sometimes it's to hide something they've done. This kept me wondering what the outcome was going to be. It could have gone many different ways.
My thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Stella is the best attorney to speak on a child's behalf during divorce proceedings. The only problem, Rose has stopped speaking. Her parents are in the middle of a divorce, her dad had an affair with the nanny, and the baby dies under mysterious circumstances. Stella quickly realizes that this isn't your typical family household.
This book had me guessing left and right and just when I thought that I might have it figured out, I was thrown a new plot twist.
If you're looking for a fast paced novel that'll keep you on your toes, then this is the book for you.
Thank you Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC in exchange for my honest review. This book comes out August 2024.

Whoa. This book had so many satisfying twists and turns, that I made my wife read it when I was finished (and she loved it too - read it in one night).
This story grabbed me immediately. It was so hard to put down because the story was engaging and the author has a special knack for ending a chapter with a bang, making you tell yourself, "I'll just read one more chapter".
Great suspense throughout and I did not see the ending coming. The "whodunnit" was very well kept a secret.
I look forward to reading more from this author.

I love this author so much and was excited to get a free arc of this one. I liked the story- a little slow at times and kinda dragged. But overall very enjoyable!

A must read psychological thriller!
This was everything I needed in a thriller! What I loved about this one was that it was super easy to follow and was really well paced so I didn’t want to put it down. Sometimes you just need a simple thriller with a great story, great twists and great characters and this was exactly that. It follows a lawyer who must asses a family as to who should get custody of their 9 year old daughter. The strange part is, the entire house has been rid of anything that’s glass and their previous nanny was mysteriously found dead.

Many thanks to St. Martin’s Press & NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review. Sarah Pekkanen's books are always a delight and I was excited to devour this one. This was an excellent thriller, which delved into the pasts and lived experiences of each character, often giving way for second guessing who truly was innocent. There were some twists and turns, and my only gripe is that they were somewhat predictable. Nevertheless, this is very entertaining and a book I will be recommending to many.
3.5 stars.

House of Glass by Sarah Pekkanen is a page turner! This book is not within my typical reading genres, but the cover and the book description sparked my interest. As a result, I jumped on the opportunity to read it, and I am so glad that I did! It was nice to deviate from my norm and read something different that was hard to put down.
I thought the book was going to be predictable at first, but it turns out it is anything but. It is a thrill packed book with excellent character development, juxtaposing storylines, and surprise and suspense that keeps you coming back for more.
Stella Hudson is a lawyer who was asked to work on a custody case for a 9-year-old girl named Rose. Rose’s parents are divorcing due to her dad’s infidelity with Rose’s nanny who is found dead after a fall. So begins the winding road, creepy storylines, unpredictable suspense and page turning thrills of this book. It is nearly impossible to put down. There is a redemptive and hope-filled ending and thus a satisfying conclusion to the crazy pages before.
I would like to give thanks to NetGalley, St. Martin's Press and Sarah Pekkanen for the opportunity to read an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you so much NetGalley and St Martins Press for this fantastic arc!
5/5 stars!
This was SO GOOD!! I read it so fast, absolutely could not put it down. Creepy kid? Creepy house?? And those twists!! I WONT SAY MORE BUT MAN I LOVED THIS
I've never read anything by this author and I absolutely need to change that!

Thank you to NetGalley for the arc of House of Glass. This took me forever to read as I was just in a reading slump at the time. I felt this story was pretty slow at the beginning, probably 1/2- 3/4 of the way thru it picked up and got interesting. Everything came together nicely in the end. 3.5/5 stars

WOW WOW WOW I really enjoyed this wild ride!! I read this in just over 1 day (to be fair, I started it on a work day haha!) but this could easily have been devoured in one sitting. I was drawn in immediately and the suspense did not stop the whole way through. I would consider this a solid 4 or 4.5 stars.
The characters are incredibly intriguing. They all have issues and I wanted to understand more- whether I liked them or not (which can be rare). The dynamic of Rose being mute due to the traumatic event added a layer of tension throughout the story that grabbed you and didn’t let go. I was suspicious of EVERYONE- from the detectives, to the parents, to Stella and to the little girl Rose. The writing truly was excellent.
The reasons that I did not consider this 5 out of 5? I expected to have more detail around certain people that were introduced. For example, the boyfriend of the Nanny that died (was killed?). He was short lived and I think there could have maybe been more explored there. I also felt like there were some things left unresolved. I won’t give specifics here since the book comes out in August but will add on to this review once it is released- very curious if others feel the same. I also don’t know how I feel about the ending… I feel like it was wrapped up but for some reason I felt unfulfilled. Again, I am curious if others feel the same.
Overall- this was a great read and I was so sad to see it end. Thank you SO MUCH for this ARC, I would recommend this to anyone that loves suspense and thriller novels!!!

5⭐️thriller right here!! Clear your schedule for the release because I absolutely could not put this book down once I started it. There were so many twists and turns-and Sara Pekkanen is so great at anticipating exactly what the reader is thinking-and explores that path of this whodunnit mystery, taking you down that road so convincingly that you don’t even see the plot twists coming.
Stella is a best interest attorney retained to investigate and make recommendations about the living situation of Rose, a 9 year old who witnessed the murder of her nanny. This nanny was found to have had an affair with Rose’s father and her parents were getting divorced.
However, right away it becomes obvious that all parties involved have secrets!!
I really, really enjoyed this book.
Thank you to St. Martin’s Press for my e-arc in exchange for an honest review.

House of Glass is a great suspense mystery that follows an attorney looking into the best living situation for a little girl. She is to determine which parent is the best option as the custodial parent. This book kept me guessing until the end. The end was very satisfying.
Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for my review copy of this book.

I devoured this book and read it in less than 24 hours. It was impossible for me to put down! A whodunnit, who is lying, what secrets are being kept, strange coincidences start happening, who is lying to protect someone else…these types of books create such an addictive read because you get fully invested in figuring out the truth. And I loved every second of it! Sarah Pekkanen also did a great job with the main character, Stella. She was relatable, likable, flawed and I was intrigued in her story just as much as the main story. There were parts that dragged slightly in the middle but it didn’t take away from the overall suspense of the book. Highly recommend picking this book up! It releases in August!
Special thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for this ARC ebook in exchange for my honest review!

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for this early release copy!
I love a good suspense and mystery book! This one kept me guessing the whole read on who really was the bad guy. A household full of suspects in all age ranges, lots of mysterious things happening. Such a great psychological thriller.

A creepy little girl named Rose, along with her troubled family, and a creepy house, all play a part in this thriller by Sarah Pekkanen. Stella is a best interest attorney advocating for children and she's been appointed as counsel to Rose. The storyline spent too much time on Stella's own past explaining why she does what she does. I didn't find that subplot very interesting, although it explained how she was the best choice to represent the little girl. There was so much potential as a thriller but it fell a little flat for me. However, I always enjoy Ms. Pekkanen's work and I'll continue to add her works to my TBR.
