I love a Sarah Permanently book! Always a must read!
Rose is a nine year old suffering from mutism. This is a result of her nanny falling through a window to her death. Or was she pushed? Her parents are getting a divorce. Her father was having an affair with the nanny who was pregnant. Her father's mother is living with them. And there is nothing made of glass in the house. But Rose has a secret stash of sharp things.
Stella has been assigned to Rose as her lawyer to make sure her best interests are met. Because of her horrible childhood she usually doesn't deal with young children, but her mentor feels she will be best for Rose.
Stella has just ended her marriage. She never wanted children and her ex does. She is still friends, but realizes she lost family , his. She decides to investigate het mother's death. She is shocked by what she learns.
Great book. Lots of surprises. I wasn't happy with Stella's choice in the end . This came out of nowhere. It was like What?.
Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin. I await Sarah's next book.

This was so good! The atmosphere was tangible. The characters were believable and I enjoyed Stella for the most part. I liked that she could connect with Rose in most ways and that even though Rose was peculiar she never stopped fighting for her.

Another twisty turny thriller by Sarah Pekkanen! This one will not disappoint, either. Main character Stella was assigned an advocate for young Rose, who's parents are undergoing a bitter divorce. Both want custody of their daughter, and it will be up to Stella to help make the determination which parent Rose would be better off with. However, to complicate matters, Rose may or may not have witnessed the death of her Nanny, Tina, who fell from the third story of their house. Now Rose is traumatically mute. Mom, Beth, father, Ian, and grandmother, Harriet all appear to have Rose's best interests in mind, but, as we already know, there is more to each story than meets the eye. The house itself holds secrets, and Stella feels an undermining torrent of bad vibes as soon as she steps foot inside the house.
I am grateful to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me the chance to read this thriller first hand in exchange for an honest review. It's definitely an interesting tale!

Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for advanced copy for honest review.
This book, House of Glass by Sarah Pekkanen got me right out of my reading slump! It turned into a two sitting read because I HAD to find out the reason for Rose, the little girl who is collecting sharp objects. Rose is having a rough go of things. Her nanny was just pushed out the third story window and her parents are in the midst of getting a divorce. That's where Stella comes in. Stella's job is finding the best placement for Rose and which parent she should live with. But while Stella is watching the family, she figures out every family has their secrets, with this family having more than most. This time money can't keep things hush-hush. 5 stars highly recommend! No spoilers.

This was a great story with mulitple twists and turns that keeps you guessing right up until the end. A family's nanny is pushed or falls to her death. Who in the family did it--the mom, the dad, the 9 year old? Stella as the child's best interest attorney keeps digging until the truth finally comes out. Thanks for the ARC.

I was so excited to get the chance to read an advanced readers copy of this book and it did not disappoint! Thank you to the author and NetGalley. A rich family’s nanny falls to her death and there is no clear evidence how she fell to her death. It could have been a tragic accident or anyone in the family could have done it including the nine year old daughter who has been mute since the nanny’s death. Stella Hudson is the best interest attorney who takes on this case as a favor and her own childhood trauma is interwoven into the story. Excellent thriller that was a quick read. One of my favorites of the year so far. Would make a great series. Would love more cases with Stella as the BIA.

I found this book to be unpredictable. I don’t usually put much effort into trying to figure out who “did it” but sometimes you just know. I thought I had this one figured out for the longest time, there were even red herring along the way to distract me from thinking it was this person. But then about the 75% mark the reveal happened, and I was just shaking my head from surprise. I didn’t see this one at all, and when it was revealed, it was fantastic. When all the pieces were laid out, I was like
oh gosh yes!”. It was perfect and I loved it.

Intricate movie worthy story! From the first chapter I was hooked & eager to know how it would end. Plenty of twists & unexpected turns throughout. No cliffhangers. Everything wrapped up nice & tidy with most of my questions answered.
The whole lesbian attraction thing tossed in towards the end is unnecessary & detracts from the otherwise well crafted story. It is disgraceful for this to be included as it is irrelevant to the story & easily avoidable. Not to mention it detracts significantly from Stella's overall character, morality, ethics & placement as a Best Interest Attorney for any child. It is shameful deviousness to push a political agenda & abnormality of desires on unsuspecting readers.

Brilliant!👏🏻👏🏻
What just happened?
Wow… this book 🤌🏻🤌🏻
A fast paced, page turning, full of twists, very suspenseful and tense thriller, family lies and trauma, that you can’t stop thinking about it.
I loved the storyline and the well developed characters, Sarah did an amazing job, that’s why I love her work.
I loved Sarah’s last book Gone Tonight and I was very excited when I found out she had a new book coming out.
This book is a must read and I highly recommend it. Add this to your TBR now!
Coming out August 6, 2024.
Thank you so much NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

The entire Barclay family is completely upended when their nanny, who had been having an affair with the father, falls to her death at their home.
The parents are going through their divorce proceedings when Stella, the Best Interest Attorney, is assigned to their case to provide input on what 9-year-old Rose's custody agreement should be. The more Stella learns about the family, the more conflicted she becomes. Why does the house feel so eerie and sinister every time she's there? Why have the parents removed every piece of glass they possibly can? How can Stella do what's best for Rose if Rose hasn't been able to speak since seeing her nanny splayed on the pavement outside? How and why did the nanny fall? Or was she actually pushed? And if so, which of the Barclay's did it? They all seem capable, even Rose, and that's the most terrifying thought of all. Stella not only has to help make her recommendation to the court, but she has to manage her own past creeping up to haunt her throughout the process as well.
I loved this book!
There were points that I actually felt panicky and stressed while reading, so the thriller was doing it's job. Yet again, I thought I had the plot twists and the ending figured out, but I wasn't even close. Sarah Pekkanen did yet another wonderful job. I will certinaly be recommending this book to everyone once it is published!

This was an intriguing psychological thriller with a different slant to the story. Stella is a best interest attorney who represents children in contentious divorces. She’s persuaded to take the case of 8-year-old Rose who has become mute after the tragic death of her nanny, but it stirs up the trauma surrounding Stella’s mother’s death when she herself was a child. Nothing about the Barclay family and their house is what it seems and sorting out the truth from what people want her to believe could be deadly. Did the nanny fall or was she pushed? Were one of Rose’s parents responsible because her father was supposedly having an affair with the nanny? Is there something far worse wrong with Rose than her inability to speak? Although the book dragged a little at some points it was still a fascinating story.

Good story and kept me guessing the whole time. A bit similar to other books but still enjoyable nonetheless.

Thank you NetGalley for the copy of House of Glass by Sarah Pekkanen. Is a nine-year-old capable of murder? Can she stalk the best interest attorney, appointed to serve as counsel for children in custody cases? Intriguing story with twist that have you questioning all the characters.

Best book of 2024, so far! The author does an excellent job of weaving a dark and twisty tale about who killed the nanny. The fact that suspicion falls on the child makes the brain go to dark places… and also question if evil is born or taught. Great story! Surprising twists. I loved that the characters were so well-formulated, but maybe they weren’t exactly what the reader thought they were….

Kept me guessing and interested the whole time. Not the most inventive story but written very well and entertaining.

I really enjoyed this one! It kept me guessing until the end. Stella was a very interesting and engaging main character. Her backstory pulled at my heartstrings. The Charles storyline felt a tad random but that’s okay!

Loved how the trauma from the past was integrated into the character's journey. Lots of twists and turns. My first read by this author. Won't be my last!

A tense, multi-layered thriller! Lots of action, drama, and intrigue make this a hard-to-put-down murder mystery.
Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the opportunity to read this ARC.

I adored Pekkanen when she was part of the writing duo "Greer Hendricks" and now I love her as a solo author as well. House of Glass was a one sitting read for me, part family noir and part suspense, as I followed the fate of little Rose, a mute child who quite possibly is a cold blooded killer. Great righting, obvious well researched and spot on thrilling writing made this a winner.

House of Glass defied my expectations. A dead woman, A mute child, that is struggling with a trauma. Wealthy parents getting divorced and pointing a finger at one another. A seemingly affable grandmother. What a twisted, unexpected and wonderful ride. This psychological thriller will keep you guessing through the final chapter. A five star read.
