Sarah Pekkanen’s latest, House of Glass, is definitely a must read!
Stella Hudson, a Best Interest Attorney, is assigned to the case of Rose Barclay. Rose is a little girl who witnessed the death of her nanny, Tina. In addition, Rose immediately stopped speaking once she saw Tina fall out of the third story window. Throughout the book, Stella tries to determine what’s best for Rose, while also trying to figure out if Tina’s death truly was an accident. With Rose not speaking, it only makes Stella’s job more difficult. Who can Stella trust?
I throughly enjoyed this book. I kept trying to figure out the ending as I read, but I was wrong every time. This book will have you questioning what and who to believe!
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for this ARC. House of Glass will be available for purchase on August 6, 2024. Until then, add it to your TBR shelf.

The storyline revolves around the suspicious murder of a young nanny, Tina de la Cruz, who was taking care of 9-year-old Rose. She had an affair with her father, Ian Barclay, and got pregnant. She's pushed down from the window, or she accidentally fell down. There are four people who witnessed the incident, as the case is presumed an accident.
I expected some more huge twists. but they never came. I hope I'm going to love her next book more. She's one of my fav thriller authors.

I really enjoyed this book and the twists. I was surprised by a lot of what happened as the story wrapped up. I would highly recommend it

I LOVED this book. If psychological thrillers are your thing then you HAVE to read this book. It’s filled with secrets, lies, families, amazing characters and I couldn’t put it down!!

House of Glass did not disappoint as my first Suspense read of 2024! The Barclay's nanny falls to her death from a window at the Barclay's mansion. The Barclays are a uber rich couple currently in the midst of a divorce and a custody battle over their daughter Rose. Stella Hudson is the attorney designated to represent Rose during the custody battle.
So was the nanny murdered? and if so, by who? In an attempt to make a custody recommendation for Rose, Stella is forced to try and find out what happened at the Barclay's mansion.
There are many twists and turns in this novel. I thought I had it figured out more than once and in the end I was (mostly) wrong. Everyone is a suspect in this one and the story keeps you guessing until the end. You will not be disappointed when you get to the big reveal!
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for this ARC. I fully recommend you read House of Glass when it's released on August 6, 2024!

What an excellent written thriller. It kept me wondering if it was a group or an individual behind it all. I couldn’t put this book down. If you’re looking for a mystery to introduce you into the genre, this is a great option. You have Sarah, an attorney who is is trying to handle a custody battle, a nanny who was murdered, and a character who won’t speak. Overall kept you on your toes and i makes you second guess your own theories.

I recently read House of Glass by Sarah Pekkanen. I have read and enjoyed several books from this author, so I'm always excited when she has a new offering. In this book, we follow Stella, an attorney who advises the court on what is in the best interest of a child during custody battles. Stella has suffered her share of childhood trauma so tries not to take the cases of young kids, not wanting to reawaken bad memories of her own. This time is different, she accepts this case as a favor, and meets Rose, a nine-year-old girl. Not only are Rose's parents divorcing but she was present when her nanny fell to her death from a third-floor window. While the police suspect multiple people for the nanny's demise, they can't prove anything, admitting that it may well have been an accident. To help Rose, Stella tries to figure out the mystery of the nanny. Naturally, she wouldn't want to advise the court to give custody of the young girl to a murderer.
This book is pure thriller. It is engrossing right from the beginning and hard to put down until the end, leaving the reader with heavy book hangover. The characters are clear, yet complicated, nobody is one dimensional. Very helpful as the reader's suspicion is moved from one person to the next. The plot shoots straight through making for a quick, entertaining novel. The heart-pounding ending is deeply satisfying. Loved it and am ready for the next!
Many thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for their generous copy of House of Glass. I have been honored to give you my views.

Stella Hudson is a best interest attorney, Her job entails her to be appointed to serve as counsel for children in custody cases. When she agrees to take on a case for a friend she is paired with 9 year old Rose. A young girl who witnessed the death of her nanny in her large mansion. Following that trauma, Rose became mute.
Stella reluctantly begins visiting the family. She realizes very quickly that there is more than what meets the eye. The family is rapidly making changes and replacing the glass windows in the home. Rose seems almost catatonic at times and very much engaged at other times. Stella is just not sure.
Add in a police investigator searching for answers and Stella's own traumatic past and you have a true thriller - creepy, tense and moving speedily to an end you could not guess!

This was a page turner for me. I couldn’t put it down. The author’s writing in this was so captivating it had me on edge the entire time. The character development was great. I found the first half more of a slow burn that picked up towards the end. I thought I had it figured out but the twists kept proving me wrong.

“House of Glass” had me hooked from the first chapter – I couldn’t put this book down! The story follows Stella, a Best Interest Attorney in her attempt to help 9 year-old Rose in the midst of her parent’s divorce and after witnessing the murder of her nanny. There are so many twists and turns in the story and as much as I typically try to guess a book’s plot as I read, this book was pleasantly unpredictable. I recommend this book for those who love a good mystery! Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the eArc.

Really enjoyed this book. Love that the characters can be unreliable and evasive. Ending was fantastic but you do start to figure out what is going to happen. I was really entertained through the whole book and literally read it in one day.

This author’s books are always a hit, and she definitely did not disappoint with this one.
At the heart of the story is Rose, a 9 year old with traumatic mutism after@three death of her nanny. Rose’s parents are divorcing, and the court has appointed Stella to decide who should have full physical custody. In the midst of trying to decide what option is healthier for Rose, Stella is trying to figure out what happened to the nanny.
I loved all the twists and turns this story took me on, and it was a book I did not want to put down.

Giving three stars because it was well written and good storyline. It read at a good pace but wasn’t a drop everything to find out what happens next feeling.

House of Glass grabs you right from the beginning, and keeps you guessing until the end. I have read other books by this author and House of Glass did not disappoint. Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy.

Thanks Netgalley for the advanced reading copy of House of Glass by Sarah Pekkanen.
Another thrilling book full of layers..Stella is assigned to determine who gets custody of Rose in a bitter divorce. There are many circumstances that Stella needs to make sense of. For instance, who killed the nanny, why Rose refuses to speak and why she gets spine chilling vibes when she walks into the Barkley home. She is also dealing with her own childhood traumas. This is so tightly wound up that when everything is revealed, get ready. Brava Sarah Pekkanen on another masterful book.

“House of Glass” is a thriller by Sarah Pekkanen. I’m often hit or miss with Ms. Pekkanen’s book, but for me she hit this one out of the ball park. This has two storylines - one the thriller/mystery and the other mainly a self-discovery/mystery. Clues are dropped along the way for both stories, though I preferred the current case storyline more than the introspective one - but both were good storylines. Plus the title - how incredibly fitting for both stories! One of the things I liked was that the child in the thriller storyline was portrayed not as “an evil kid just ‘cause” - there was depth and while I had an inkling of “who might’ve done it” early on, I still liked wondering “am I incorrect” while reading this book. Strong recommend if thrillers and Ms. Pekkanen’s writing is your thing.

I'm a big fan of Sarah Pekkanen and this might be my favorite book of hers yet. It follows my favorite narrative format, where the protagonist slowly unpeels the layers of something suspicious. Packed with twists and red herrings, House of Glass ensures that the reader is constantly questioning their own theories.

I was given this book by NetGalley for an honest review-
Wow! What a book! After the wife discovers her husband had an affair with the nanny they decide to get a divorce. Stella is called in to help with the determination of custody.
When the nanny falls out the window and is thought to have been murdered - the question arises of who would want her dead. Rose the little girl can’t talk or won’t talk, In visiting with the family everyone appears to be a suspect- mom, dad, grandma and even Rose. Who did it. Why? Is Stella in danger? Who will get custody.?

Brilliant!!! Wow I loved everything about this book. What a puzzle, not knowing myself who was responsible kept me guessing throughout the whole book. The characters were written perfectly and the story was intertwined do well made it an unputdownable book
Thanks to the author, the publisher and Netgalley for an early release of this book.
