This was an excellent family mystery from Sarah Pekkanen, a genre she does well. I liked the main character and I wonder if this could be turned into a series as it definitely has the potential for more books in my opinion. I did not guess the killer beforehand which is always a huge plus when you read a lot of mysteries like I do. I’ll definitely read her next book.
I recommend this if you like intriguing family oriented mysteries or if you’re a fan of any of the authors many other mystery novels.
**Thanks to the author and publisher for the e-arc I received via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.**

This is my favorite Sarah Pekkanen book yet! I was enthralled throughout the entire book and the plot kept me guessing. The idea of an evil child is so innately creepy! This author is quickly making her way to the top of my list! One of the best thrillers I’ve read this year.

This book had me up late several nights with my heart pounding! I read this story so quickly. However, I did not love the ending.

This is a captivating read that combines elements of mystery and family drama, making it a compelling addition to contemporary literature. The author skillfully weaves together rich character development with an intriguing plot, immersing readers in a world filled with secrets and revelations.
One of the standout aspects of the book is the way it explores the complexities of family relationships. The characters are well-developed, each with their own flaws and strengths, which adds depth to their interactions and conflicts. The emotional resonance of their struggles feels genuine, drawing readers in and making them invested in their journeys.
The pacing of the story is generally well-done, with moments of tension and introspection that keep the reader engaged. However, there were a few sections that felt slightly drawn out, impacting the overall momentum. Despite this, the author’s ability to create a vivid atmosphere and to build suspense more than compensates for any slow moments.

This book has me guessing the whole time . I really enjoyed it and recommend it. The side story of the main character was interesting also. I love when endings are wrapped with a neat bow.

I really went into this book with so much hope. I wanted to love it because the premise is one that usually works for me. I’m all about domestic thrillers set in a big house with unreliable characters.
It started off ok. I was intrigued by the mystery that was presented but as the book went on it started to feel more tedious than interesting. I feel by trying to keep certain things a secret for so long, it actually detracted from the eventual reveal.
I enjoyed the writing just as I did in her other book, Gone Tonight. However, Gone Tonight was a much more cohesive story with very thrilling scenes and a better payoff.

Entertaining mystery with some intriguing characters! This story involves the death of a nanny, a divorce, a smart but complicated child, and a lawyer tasked with recommending the parental custody arrangement after the divorce. I really enjoyed the first half - it kept me very engaged! The second half was fine and the book wrapped up nicely but I think I was expecting a big twist that didn’t really come!

A fast paced and easy read with some predictable parts. I enjoyed the lead female Stella and her no nonsense ways. The take on the family and their avoidance of glass was a unique way to divert the readers attention.

House of Glass by Sarah Pekkanen is a brooding psychological thriller and murder mystery.
Protagonist Stella Hudson is a best interest attorney who is tasked to serve as counsel for children in custody cases. She draws a complex assignment to represent Rose Barclay, a 9 year-old troubled child with traumatic mutism, who witnessed her nanny’s death/possibly murder. Rose’s parents are privileged, eccentric characters, who are in the midst of a bitter divorce. Rose’s grandmother Harriet lives with the family, and is a manipulative dark force in the household. Stella, for professional and personal reasons, is driven to find the truth about the nanny’s murder in the hopes it will heal Rose’s trauma.
This story is fundamentally interesting and a good whodunit, but it has a very slow start and a lot of unlikeable characters. Stella, the main character, is all over the place—is she a lawyer, an amateur psychologist, or a detective? Much time is spent delving into Stella’s inner thoughts and angst about her own troubled childhood as the author draws parallels between Stella and Rose. There are lots of psychological musings with random threads and detours that frankly distract from the mystery at the book’s core.
The story is saved by some exciting action scenes near the end and a satisfying solution of the murder mystery and revelations about the characters’ relationships.
I am a fan of Sarah Pekkanen’s atmospheric prose and her previous thrillers. I am looking forward to her next novel!
Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the ARC. This is my honest review.

Overall a solid psychological thriller that was a bit slow in its pacing but meandering whodunit that keeps the reader guessing until the end. Not a favorite new thriller but not a bad read either. Entertaining and engaging. Held my interest

House of Glass by Sarah Pekkanen was a convoluted, overly simplistic story that fell flat for me in the end. The narration is simplistic and the story is repetitious with too many erroneous details. The twists were also disappointing and I found myself skimming the end of the book. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you, Netgalley, the author, and St. Martin's Press for the gifted e-book! ❤️ #gifted. My review is comprised of my honest thoughts.
Read this book if you like: Whodunit, fast-paced reads, gripping stories
This was nutsss. It was very twisty and kept me guessing. I had a lot of theories. Many were right, but I still loved it. I highly recommend it!

A decent domestic thriller with a nice twist or two. The narrator did a nice job on the audiobook. .....................................................................................................................................................

This was a slow-burn thriller but which much suspense. It was definitely well-written with great characters. I really enjoyed it!

Thank you St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the e-ARC of the book.
Stella Hudson is an interest attorney who was asked to look into a custody case in which a 9 year old girl Rose was involved. The traumatic and mysterious death of Rose’s nanny left girl speechless which makes Stella’s job more complicated. The historic house of the family has no glass objects, every family member acts weird and all they wish that this divorce to be finalized. What everyone is hiding and who is the most dangerous person in this story makes Stella dig deeper in this case.
I like Sarah Pekkaneh's books, there are always interesting characters and mysterious cases which keep me guessing until the end as to what is really going on. Another detail that makes me enjoy author’s book is the locations - DC, Maryland and Virginia.

I thoroughly enjoyed this. This author always keeps me on my toes. I did suspect the killer early on but it was of a couple theories of mine and it didn’t take away from how much I enjoyed the journey of the book. This is one I would definitely recommend.
I sometimes have a hard time with books that have a mischievous or bad child as a main character. It really unsettles me but also makes things so creepy. The house having no glass was unsettling and I truly could picture exactly how this all played out.

Excellent mystery. I loved the premise and the surprises throughout. Great character building and plot development. My first book by Sarah by herself and I was impressed!

Creepy twisty thriller that keeps the reader second guessing throughout. Spooky Kids and houses in the plot never disappoint. Thankyou netgalley for the ARC.

This is one of my favorite thriller authors and I really enjoyed this one! I thought the twists were surprising and the characters were compelling. Highly recommend if you enjoy twisty domestic thrillers! 4⭐️

I have enjoyed a few of this author’s other novels, so I was excited to read this one. The premise was great and I thought the overall build up was well done. Unfortunately, the ending was a bit of a let down and not very surprising. I would still recommend this to others who have liked the author's other books.
