In solidarity with the SMP Boycott I will be withholding my review for this title until SMP acts on the following:
1. Address and denounce the Islamophobic and racist remarks from their employee.
2. Offer tangible steps for how they are going to mitigate the harm this employee caused.
3. Address how, moving forward, they will support and protect their Muslim, Arab, and Palestinian influencers, authors and readers, in addition to supporting their BIPOC influencers, authors, and readers.
This is not a reflection of the author personally, nor is it a call to boycott buying this particular book.

This one is a winner!! I read it in a day and a half - but I honestly would have read it in one sitting if I was able. I loved everything about this book.
I loved Stella and her backstories (from both childhood and adulthood). I think she is a fantastic character, and I’d love to read about her again (hint, hint, Sarah Pekkanen). 😁 I’d love to see her work more cases. Pretty please?
Of course, any story with a creepy kid is going to win me over - and Rose definitely ups the creep factor!
I thought Marco, Natalia, and Charles were just amazing. They were secondary characters, but gave the story so much more than that. Stella has such a great supporting cast here.
I loved the eerie descriptions of the Barclay house and its residents. I didn’t know what to think, believe, or expect the whole time. My mind was working overtime on this one. This was truly a great psychological thriller!!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

This book is hard to review. It started good, then very early on, it leads us to believe the little girl is behind it. To the point where I figured it wasn't her just by how much it was pushing the reader in that direction. I have to admit that I could not put the book down during the unraveling of everything. It didn't not grab my attention to the fullest and I just wanted to be done with this book. I also thought the last couple of chapters were completely unnecessary.
Thanks for the ARC! sorry my review is not more positive but it's honest...I would give it 3 1/2 stars

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC! This story centers around Stella. Stella is a best interest attorney in charge of deciding which adult a nine year old child, Rose Barclay, should be with during a nasty custody battle. Rose’s nanny Tina died from falling out of a third story window at the Barclay home… or was she pushed? Rose has been mute since Tina’s death and Rose may be the key to discovering how Tina’s death happened.
The longer Stella spends with this family, the less she trusts them. Everyone is hiding something.
I loved this book. I give it 5 stars. It was unique, compelling, and disturbing at times. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I hereby name this the best psychological thriller of 2024! The characters are well-drawn, both likeable and detestable, the plot is multi-faceted and kept me on my toes, The main twist was not jaw-dropping, but its implications were; plus, there were many smaller twists throughout to keep me riveted. I am so impressed by this book, by far the author’s best. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

A solid book! I enjoyed every aspect of this book. The nanny, Tina, mysteriously falls through a window, Rose, a little girl is traumatized and lost her voice. Her parents are going through a divorce. Stella is assigned to make sure Rose has the optimal custody decision since no one knows how Tina fell to her death. Was she pushed? Did she trip? Everyone is a suspect. Stella is battling her own demons, she experienced a similar situation where she could not speak after she found her mother dead when she was a little girl. She sees herself in Rose and wants to give her the best outcome possible.
I truly had no idea where this story was going. It is your classic whodunnit. I liked the aspect of the muteness related to trauma and how that all played in. I loved how all the characters had their own suspicious aspect. I liked trying to piece everything together with Stella and come up with my own solution. After the ending I see now why certain characters were portrayed the way there were. Key part of the story is you never know who you are living with, trauma does different things to everyone

A special thanks to St Martin's Press and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was my first Sarah Pekkanen book and it definitely won't be my last.
I enjoyed how fleshed out her characters were, the short chapters, the fast pace and the creepy-ish vibes a lot!
If you enjoy a well crafted psychological thriller, definitely pick this one up!

Stella Hudson, a best interest attorney, takes on Rose Barclay as a new client. Rose’s parents are in the midst of a tense divorce and Stella must make a custody decision. To make the situation more complicated, the family’s nanny, Tina, died recently after falling out of a window on the property and Rose is now experiencing traumatic mutism. Stella quickly realizes that each family member could be responsible for Tina’s death. She must wade through each individual’s story to arrive at the truth.
Wow, this was a great read! The writing style, pacing, and the details of the story were addictive. I binged the audio and enjoyed the story’s twists and turns.
Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press, and MacMillan Audio for both the ALC and ARC copies of this title.

This book was really difficult to get into, and to finish. This book was honestly super slow, and way longer than it needed to be. A little too many twists and turns that maybe I just missed but made us deter a little too much from the main storyline and made it more confusing than it needed to be. A mysterious death, a troubled child, and a divorce that seems amicable? So many suspects and potential reasons for the nanny to be killed. But can the person assigned to be the evaluator for the court figure it out and protect the child correctly? I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I love everything about this novel -- the characters, the storyline, the exquisite, evocative writing. It's a very welcoming change from so many of today's suspense novels that all seem to have the same plot with only the names changed. This author never disappoints, and this book is a standout.

WOW WOW WOW - THIS👏🏼 BOOK👏🏼. I DEVOURED it. You know I am a SUCKER for a good thriller and this one was exactly what I needed. I absolutely loved the fact that this was told from the POV of a best interest attorney (guardian ad litem). Stella was given the case of Rose, a nine-year-old girl who recently witnessed her nanny die. She has traumatic mutism which means she cannot talk at all. Stella was assigned this case specifically because she too suffered from traumatic mutism when she was a child. I love how this book had so many different pieces of a big puzzle that comes together at the end. Not only with Rose and her family but also with Stella and her past. Not to mention the house in this book is a character in itself. Overall I couldn’t have loved this book more - I HIGHLY recommend when it comes out in August.

Rose Barclay is a 9-year old girl, who suffers from traumatic mute disorder following the suspicious death of her nanny, Tina while at the Barclay’s house. Stella is a Best Interest Attorney appointed to the Barclays to represent Rose in the Barclays bitter divorce. Stella has a special interest in Rose, because Stella too suffered from traumatic mute disorder following the suspicious death of her own mother when Stella was a child. As Stella investigates the Barclay family, more sinister events start to take place. Nobody in the family gives Stella warm vibes, and anyone could have killed Tina, including Rose. Meanwhile, Stella is finally in a place in her life that she is ready to look into her own mother’s death.
This one hooked me immediately. The plot was creative and different from most thrillers. Stella was a likable lead character, who shows resiliency and strength overcoming the cards she was dealt. I enjoyed the plot into Stella’s mother’s death, too.
Triggers: Murder, death of a parent, divorce, deception, mental illness, and drug use and overdose
Thank you @macmillan.audio and @netgalley for the early copy of The Glass House. Reviewing it was my pleasure. I love Sarah Pekkanen’s books. This eerie binge worthy thriller was no different.

Huge fan of Sarah Pekkanen and this was a one sitting read! She does such a fantastic job conjuring up these concepts that are both thrilling and creepy. I didn't know what to make of it, heads or tails of what the meaning of the house or how it all came together. It wasn't nearly till the end of that a-ha moment did I piece it together and realize she got me again.
It has all the classics of the a dynamic thriller - the traumatized child, the secretive parents, a murder, a house, and the investigator who won't leave it well alone.
What I like most about her work that once you are familiar with her work, you have to think twice about the evidence she presents to make sure you can take it for face value. This is a great thriller I recommend reading!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an e-ARC copy of this book in exchanged for an honest review.
The Barclay's Nanny ends up dead. The young daughter is rendered mute. Did she have anything to do with her death?
Enter Stella, the lawyer that is hired to try to find the answers.
Rose, her parents, and her grandparents are all suspects. Nothing is at seems.
I had an idea of how this would play out but ended up not being right several occasions!
Great read by a great author!

This was one of my most anticipated reads of the year and it did NOT disappoint!
Stella Hudson is a BIA, a best interest attorney, acting in the best interest of her juvenile clients as their parents go through (often messy) divorces. But her newest client is different. Because 9 year old Rose Barclay doesn't speak. She hasn't spoken a word since the tragic death of her nanny Tina De La Cruz.
Traumatic mutism is something Stella is all-too familiar with. Having experienced it herself after the loss of her mother, Stella feels uniquely equipped to help her young client. But as Stella digs deeper into the lives of the Barclay's, she begins to wonder if Tina's accident was really an accident. And if Rose is really mute or just an excellent liar.
This was a 5 star read from start to finish. Beautiful writing, imaginative plot, Sarah Pekkanen is truly a superstar author. You won't want to miss this summer hit!

Thanks to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for allowing me to read a digital ARC of Sarah Pekkanen's "House of Glass," with a publication date of August 6, 2024. "House of Glass" is the first book I've read solely by this author. I have read several books this author wrote in collaboration with Greer Hendricks. "House of Glass" has a gripping plot, telling the story of Stella, the Best Interest Attorney (BIA), assigned to determine which parent, Ian Barclay or Beth Barclay, 9-year-old Rose should be placed with since they are getting a divorce, and their nanny dies suddenly. Did the nanny fall to her death, or was she pushed? To determine which parent should have custody, Stella has to figure out what happened to the nanny.
After the accident, Rose experienced traumatic mutism; did she witness the murder? Did a member of the Barclay family murder the nanny? Was it Ian, the father? Beth, the mother? Harriet, the grandmother? Or Rose? The Barclays are unlikable when you first meet them; they are shifty, have secrets, and live in a creepy mansion. But, as the story progresses, you get to know them, feel what they feel, etc. Because each character is well-developed, you can relate to and empathize with them. While Stella tries to find out who committed the murder, she revisits a tragedy she experienced as a young girl. The parallel stories of Stella and Rose complement each other.
"House of Glass" is an intricate thriller that grabs hold of you and won't let go. Holy Batman, your head spins as you think, "Aha, I know who the killer is." Only to realize, "Oops, this is not the killer." This novel is a whodunit filled with twists and turns and a stunning climax that will keep you on the edge of your seat. In Chapter 51 (or around the 74% mark of the digital copy), there's a mention of a character having a Book of the Month Club subscription. Interestingly, "House of Glass" is a July 2024 Main Book of the Month Club selection.
I'm looking forward to recommending "House of Glass" to my book club, and I urge readers to purchase this book on August 6, 2024.

When Best Interest Attorney Stella is hired to decide which parent a seven year old girl should live with in a divorce case, the case hits differently. the young girl recently witnessed the death of her nanny who fell from a window in the house, or was perhaps pushed. The incident has deeply traumatized young Rose and friend and father figure, Charles who is a judge, tells Stella she is the perfect attorney to manage the case given her own childhood.
Full of twists and turns with a good setup and development of the characters. I changed my mind many times about who did or did not do what and enjoyed the process of reading. This is my second book by Sarah Pekkanen writing on her own. I really enjoyed Gone Tonight and this one also hit the mark. It was just what I needed right now and will make a great summer read. Which is perfect since House of Glass publishes August 6th!
My thanks to @netgalley and @stmartinspress for an ARC in exchange for my honest opinions.

House of Glass
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What a fast-paced thriller! I honestly didn’t know who to believe in this! And if you don’t like an unreliable narrator, don’t worry. This doesn’t have one!
Stella is called in to help on a case where a young girl’s nanny has been killed. The young girl’s parents are fighting for custody of her during the divorce to make it even more tense.
I seriously didn’t see the twists coming in this. Such a fun thriller, glad I got a copy on @netgalley!

Have you ever had a book that you couldn’t binge due to life getting in the way, but then you couldn’t wait to pick it up every chance you got? THIS was one of those books for me. Creepy. So many creepy elements in this book. At one point I had to put it down for the night because I was alone, it was dark outside, and I needed a breather. 😅 There are different story lines with different twists throughout this book, to always keep you guessing. It is safe to say that the twists are definitely twisting in this one. Another solid, creepy thriller from @sarahpekkanen!

I was on the edge of my seat from start to finish reading this gripping novel. House of Glass is as unsettling as it is suspenseful, with enough twists and turns to give a reader whiplash. This is an emotional read as well, dealing with traumatic mutism in its young character. If you’re looking for a tait thriller that will also crack your heart open, this is the book for you.
