This was a fun and delicious dark revenge thriller. This almost gave me the same thrills as the Mindfuck series and I’m here for it. This book was quite the ride and I loved every bit of it.

Listen, I’m not against a vigilante serial killer. I loved Dexter.
But Millie just…wasn’t my favorite to say the least.
Nothing she did made any sense to me.
The plot had potential. A woman who helps other women finding themselves in precarious situations with sleazy men. That’s a promising premise.
But I just didn’t understand the decisions she was making. She seemed so careless. Not to mention, she likes to act like she’s some kind of champion for women, yet she seems to hate every single woman (and man) in her life or that she comes across.
She also doesn’t seem to understand how phone evidence works…you can’t just delete things and they disappear…things are rarely ACTUALLY gone when you delete them.
I did find myself invested though, because I had to see how her recklessness, which just seemed to get more and more unhinged as she went along, would end up. Would she get caught? Would she ever stop killing people? Would she start killing women eventually?
It’s not that it was a BAD book. It wasn’t. It was readable, slow occasionally, but overall kept me reading…It just perplexed me sometimes.
Judging from the other reviews, maybe it’s just my issue because it seems very well-loved by others.

*Thank you to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for providing this book, with my honest review below*
I thought this would be a little lighter based on the cover, but it’s a very intense and very good thriller! The book description represents a very very high level overview of the book well, but Millie’s (MC) story is very intense and the whole book follows her deeper and deeper into the conflicts that her hotline, Message M, led to, along with her sister’s attack.
I enjoyed the tension build up and the twists at the end, but this book flirted with adding some more complexity and character studies that would really help connect to the characters and make it more fraught. Good writing, but in its genre I think it could either go lighter and meet the humour of the title or go darker to make it a fascinating study of what someone does in reaction to tragedy and trauma.

Millie sets up a hotline for women feeling unsafe. However, the hotline soon turns into a murder hotline, with Millie helping women with the problematic men in their life.
Not sure how I feel about this overall. I wanted to empathize with Mille's revenge quest for women treated so badly, but I didn't connect with her or her actions.

Got bad vibes about the guy you are with? Your solution and hopefully rescue from a potentially bad situation is to Message M. That would be Millie Masters who sets up the message line after her much loved younger sister. Katie, is raped last New Year’s Eve. However, bear in mind that message M is remarkably close to Dial M for Murder… Revenge might just be on the cards.
As the title suggests this novel is not necessarily going to be pretty but it is darkly funny, and despite what she does, the author managers to make Millie likeable whilst your jaw thunders to the floor at some of what she does. It is like watching a car crash in slo-mo at times (apt), but you can’t lift your eyes from the pages as you are horribly “entertained”. Whilst I don’t advocate what Millie does, the anger at her sisters suffering and the weakness and lack of justice via the law drives this and creates a powerful message from the pages.
This is well written, it is full of darkly funny statements or a strong sense of irony or underplaying what has transpired. There are some good descriptions of creepy characters and with a few well chosen phrases the sleazebags are there in front of us. Millie, whilst she is full of anger and more, she can be reckless and there are several whoops moments (I’m the one underplaying here) but she is also perceptive and her love for her sister shines through it all. Her willingness to put herself on the line to help those in trouble via Message M is admirable. What you learn towards the end delivers a terrible shock and you understand her better and the obsession with her brand of justice.
The pace and delivery of the novel is fast, there is never a dull moment and it turns into a buckle up, twisty ride. There are multiple moments of suspense and tension, there are some jaw dropping light bulb moments and clues I should have picked up much earlier and I kick myself. The situation then becomes clearer as it escalates to a tense and very dramatic ending.
Despite the fact this is dark there are moments where your heart breaks at its core this is a story about love and ok, revenge. I love the fact that the author has created a strong female lead character who is taking back the streets, pubs, clubs and for that I cheer her on but it shouldn’t be necessary should it?
An entertaining read with a serious message beneath the darkly funny.
With thanks to NetGalley and especially to Avon Books for the much appreciated arc in return for an honest review.

Wow! This was so much fun. I highly recommend this book. It was even better then “How to kill men”. I felt more connected to the main character.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book for my honest opinion

This was a difficult one - marketing itself as a comedy and using comparisons to My Sister, the Serial Killer, this was already setting itself up for some harsh comparisons. While I would argue that the title doesn't quite hold enough funny moments to call itself a comedy and there is an edge it lacks when up against My Sister, the Serial Killer, this book still manages to be an enjoyable read.
The book is quintessentially British in a way that makes it so believable despite many of the far fetched moments and the dry humour, when used, is done well.
Pacing slightly skewed but this works well to mimic Millies chaotic nature and the twists (particularly Katies attacker and Gina's project) are engagingly shocking.
Overall, a fun and chaotic read which keeps the reader on tenterhooks in the very best way.

Millie Masters runs a public service (for a small fee obvs) helping women get rid of pests and other vermin. I cackled in public reading this book. Well played.

This book was really difficult to get into but definitely picked up about halfway through and redeemed itself. Reminds me of another book about revenge on men. Our main characters sister is assaulted by a man and the main storyline is the sister finding out who this man is. By slowly killing people she believes are guilty. The kicker? Her boyfriend is a detective. Probably not the best for her “cause.” I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This book is about a woman who is taking the law into her own hands. After the rape of her sister she vows that women should not need to suffer from men. She makes it her mission to help others until she begins taking it too far.

Such a fun and quick read! The story was engaging and got better as the book went on!
Thank you for the ARC!

4 dark revenge stars
This one is perfect for fans of dark revenge thrillers. Millie is one of the more interesting characters I’ve encountered recently through new author Eve Kellman.
Women are sometimes in dire situations; a man is not taking no for an answer, and she needs to escape. Enter M – you can text this hotline -- and M will rescue you. After way too many rescues, though, Millie (or M for short) is ready to go to the next level, and this is where the darkness comes in. She decides that she needs to take out some of these men that cause her repeat business.
And this is personal, her sister has had a terrible experience and Millie decides to find the culprit herself.
Along the way, Millie starts to date someone, and I was hopeful she would realize that not all men are bad. But . . . it turns out this man might be more than she bargained for after all.
I found this one to be, yes, dark but also funny in some ways. I found myself rooting for Millie while realizing that what she was doing was so wrong. I think all of us have the urge to seek revenge at some point. Although most of us just imagine it!

Millie Masters is not a huge fan of men, especially since her sister was raped and fallen into a depression that only seems to be getting worse. Since there isn’t much Millie can do for her sister, she does her best to help other women by advertising her phone number around town for women who are in some way in a precarious situation with a man or men.
Though Millie is cynical and dislikes most people, somehow her thoughts and remarks on human frailty are pretty funny. Then she accidentally murders a man who, it turns out, the world will not miss, though she only had minimal information at the time.
I wasn’t sad about the first guy she killed, but her actions escalate. Two major plot points I guessed way in advance, and I am not super excited about the ending. This is not a sunny read although the dark humor is fun.
NetGalley provided an advance copy of this novel, which RELEASES MARCH 28, 2024.

Thanks @netgalley and @avonbooks for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. I absolutely loved this book. It’s got a very different premise, with a main character who I probably should not like, but couldn’t help but be entertained by. I had no idea where this story was going next, and did not see any of it coming. This was a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ book for me. Check it out when it’s released in March 2024. #avivaandfriendsrecos

I really enjoyed this book. The main character is funny, sassy and crazy but in a good relatable way. Highly recommended xx

I loved this book! It had brilliant twists all.the way through and was so cleverly written. A must read!

I love love loved this one!
I was gripped from the very start and I actually liked the main character Millie despite her actions being frustrating at times.
It’s refreshing to have a female serial killer storyline as they are more often than not centred around men… and the humour and wit throughout this book really made it for me.
There is some heavy stuff so trigger warnings should be checked before reading but overall this is an enjoyable and different read.

AHHH. This is the third book I've finished this year and it is setting the bar HIGH for the rest.
This is everything I love in weird, quirky, thrillery stories. The tone reminded me of Blood Sugar and Never Saw Me Coming. It's clever and quick-paced, and such a twist on serial killer stories--Millie is so beautifully ordinary in many ways. She doesn't *mean* to kill, not really, but she's looking for justice/revenge for her little sister and not letting anyone get in her way. The tone of this book is fantastic--one moment it's tense as all get out, the next a snarky one-liner had me in stitches. It's a beautiful combination of serial killer thriller and thoughtful commentary on real, relatable issues, and there were multiple lines that made me stop and reflect for a moment.
Loved this one. So grateful to Netgalley and the publisher for the arc!

Millie Masters is a normal girl with a normal job by day… by night, she becomes a vigilante, rescuing vulnerable people from predators on nights out. One night, things get out of hand and Millie takes the law into her own hands.
Millie’s sister was assaulted on a night out and justice was not served… until Millie gets involved.
If you’re looking for a book you absolutely cannot put down, this is the book for you. Great for fans of ‘How To Kill Your Family’.
Likeable characters and a great storyline with lots of plot twists, I found myself nervous, excited and on edge when reading this. I’m actually sad to have finished this! Love the cover, love the style of writing, characters and storyline.
Absolutely brilliant book, I look forwards for further books from Eve Kellman.

I absolutely LOVED this book! I flew through it! The feminine rage and the witty banter was *chefs kiss* 🤌🏼 Being a woman, I have known many creepy men and I’ve heard enough stories to go around. The way this story plays out is fantastic. THE ENDING THOUGH 😱I can not wait for this to come out and I can purchase a copy for all my friends.
