This is my first book by Katy Regnery and I will say that I will be back for more of her stories. I loved the dynamic between Tanner and McKenna and how what we think we look for physically in a significant other can drastically change when you meet the right person. I loved delving into the wilds of Alaska with the Stewart family and loved to hear a bit more about that area of the state and its history. I'm not typically a fan of stories written in a first person POV, even if it's dual POV, but Kate may have changed my mind with dialogue. I agreed to provide my honest review for an early copy of this book.

Summer in Skagway is book 7 in the Odds are Good Standalone Romance by Katy Regnery. 4.5 stars

Tanner Stewart and McKenna Cabot enter into fake fiancé roles for the summer when he learns an ex is coming back to town. She needs quick funds to help her grandmother and after reading a personal ad with everything she needs she accepts the fake fiancé job. What happens next is a slow burn attraction, adventures, finding a feeling that this is home and more…

I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy (ARC) of this book from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Loved this quick spicy read. Makes me want a romantic getaway in Alaska. I love that the main character had a different brand of beauty than most romance novels.

Miss Katy, this book! There is something about a book set in Alaska, especially a romance book that satisfies my desire for something fresh and tender. Tanner Stewart is both those things with a little scent of pine thrown in for good measure.
I read this book in a few hours and immediately started looking for flights to the Alaskan wilderness. The characters are genuine, believable and pleasantly conflicted.

I found myself wanting to get to know the other Stewart's a little better. I hope to read their stories in the future.

I requested this book because I've read several other books by this author in the past and overall enjoyed them. This one was a disappointment for me however.

What I liked about this book:
- McKenna seemed pretty cool and really enjoyed being in the outdoors
- When the couple started to realize they liked each other it was cute

What I didn't like about this book:
- A guy who has to order a fake fiance to discourage a woman who's interested in him is weak
- I hate when women are bitchy to other women in novels

Having read the other books in the Odds are Good series, I was excited to see Katy Regnery had a new entry. These books are standalone romances but I sincerely hope this will not be the last we see of the Stewart family. There are just too many great supporting characters that need a story!
I was immediately pulled into the story from the singles ad that Tanner Stewart posted. He was looking for a fake fiancé to make his crazy ex-girlfriend go away. After outlining some of the stunts that the former girlfriend had done, it was easy to see why Tanner needed to get her out of the picture, like completely out of the state! Meanwhile McKenna is just looking for a summer job to supplement her income when she realizes that posing as a fake fiancé gets her free room and board in Skagway where she was considering employment anyway. A win for everyone since there will be no feelings involved, right? Wait when does it ever work out that way??
Overall, a highly enjoyable story with endearing characters that will have you ready to travel to Alaska to see if the odds really are good!

I loved everything about this story!

As an Oregon Duck fan, I appreciated the references to the rivalry between football teams. I felt as thought someone was channeling my feelings onto the page, and it made me laugh so hard.

Tanner is your typical playboy, but struggling when one of his ex's who took things too far, comes back for the Summer and he needs a fake fiancee to discourage her unwanted attention.

This was both an emotional and hilarious story. My heart broke for McKenna's journey, struggling to take care of her Grandma with Alzheimer's. But the witty banter, and hilarious family members keep it from being too serious.

I loved Tanner and Kenna, especially as I'm watching the Duck/Huskie game right now. I'll always think of their story when this rivalry plays, and I can't wait to read it all over again.

**Side note to the author: Please have more books in this series coming soon!!!

Quick Summary: A big, little love story

My Review: Summer in Skagway by Katy Regnery is associated with The Odds-Are-Good Standalone Romance Collection. It is a fake fiancee story.

About the Book: Tanner Stewart will do almost anything to get rid of his ex -- an ex who just so happens to give off mad-crazy Fatal Attraction vibes. When he decides to place an ad to get a fake fiancee, he quickly realizes that he hit the jackpot when he secured the help of McKenna Cabot.

My Final Say: This book was so much more than I expected. I loved the representation it showed, regarding family types. I also loved how it dealt with caring for a family member with a neuro cognitive issue. The Stewarts were great. Being able to catch glimpses of each of them and their potential love interest was cool. I cannot wait to see what happens next.

Other: The cover might need to be reconsidered. The angle of the model presents an interesting picture. What exactly is he doing?

Another awesome addition to the Odds are Good series. I love the setting in Alaska with magical sceneries, small town people, and adventures. It is all beautiful and you feel transported there. McKenna and Tanner love story is sweet and slow burn, opposite attract and fake dating/fiancé. McKenna had a difficult upbringing. She is in need of money to pay for her grandma's assistance living. Tanner needs to lose a fatal attraction ex so he placed an ad looking for a fake fiancé in hope that his we will leave him alone. McKenna jumped at a chance since all expenses are paid for and by the end of summer she could pocket a lot of cash before heading back to Seatle. What she did not expect is too fall for Tanner. Their relationship is slow building and not without many ups and downs. McKenna don't do relationships or love because the people supposed to love her always leave. Tanner just dodged a bullet with an ex and the last thing he wants is to jump in another relationship with someone. A friend with benefits arrangement would be best if they don't risk their hearts. Easy said than done! ❤️
I love everything about this book - the romance, the magnificent setting. Gorgeous writing as always. I can not wait for possibly a start of a new series - Stewart's siblings? Yes please! 🙏

I really enjoyed this book. It was easy to fall in love with Tanner and McKenna. I haven’t read the other books in the series so will definitely be checking them out.

Loved it! I wasn't sure how much I would like Tanner at the beginning, but he completely grew on me. It was amazing watching him fall in love with McKenna and continually stand by her and give her whatever she needs. McKenna is the kind of strong and layered heroine that I love, and it was great watching her eventually lower her guard. I so enjoyed this book and can't wait for more of the Stewarts!

The fake girlfriend premise was cute.
However, right off the bat my hackles are raised at the “psycho ex-girlfriend and possibly baby mama” trope. It’s tired and the disparaging manner in which the MMC refers to certain women is completely offputting. There are attempts by the FMC to question that narrative, but unfortunately the psycho angle persists. As a result, the book feels dated, like a poor 1980s formulaic concept “romance”.

Where to start. I absolutely loved this story. Tanner & McKenna are a mismatched pair, in size, lifestyle and future goals. She’s desperately searching for a way to supplement her income, he needs help getting rid of a crazy ex girlfriend. Enter the perfect solution, he places a personal ad that she answers, which brings McKenna to take a summer job in Alaska and pose as Tanner’s fake fiancée. Problem solved. Except. Things get messy, and then heated and then emotions get involved and things start to unravel fast.

McKenna Cole has abandonment issues, she was raised by her grandmother and feels unlovable. Tanner Stewart comes from a large tight knit family and isn’t looking for forever. And yet that’s the thing. When you least expect it, expect it. Sometimes love finds you and it comes in all shapes and sizes.

I need more Stewarts please?!? Hunter, Harper, Sawyer, I’m invested and need their stories.

Every story in the Odds are Good series is a gem and Summer in Skagway is no exception! McKenna Cabot has not had a easy life for a 24 year old. She's working by day as an archeology professor at a Seattle community college but then she also works a second full time job to help pay for her beloved grandmother's dementia care home, and if all that doesn't sound like enough she just lost her second job. Tanner Stewart on the other hand has had a pretty great life so far. He runs his family's Alaskan tour business with this grandmother, father and siblings. He loves where he lives and wouldn't change much about his life except for how he spent last summer. He hooked up with a summer worker in the town and didn't think with his big head and it turned out that she is kinda crazy! Now here he is almost a year later and the town grapevine has informed him that she's coming back to work for the summer and he needs to keep her away from his family and himself. One of his sister's suggests that he advertise for a fake fiancee to ward the ex away and he figures an ad in Odds Are Good magazine couldn't hurt and might possibly help. When McKenna reads the ad and researches the type of money that she can make over the summer season she knows what she needs to do. McKenna and Tanner are complete opposites from the outside but as the summer goes on and they get to really know each other they both realize that everything that is important in life is what they have in common. As I said in the beginning, each story in this series is a gem, individual and unique. I'm usually not drawn to romances involving characters in their 20's because of all the drama of youth but Tanner and McKenna are a couple of old souls that share a love of history of the land. Summer in Skagway was told from dual POV and was sweet, spicy and everything in between. The supporting characters add a great amount of depth to the story as well. A perfect escape from the reality of day to day life.

Summer in skagway is a fun read, Tanner put up an add to find himself a fake fiancee, McKenna was immediately interested, good way to get extra money to care for grandmother expensive care.
Tanner needs to chase away his ex, and McKenna loves the idea of having free rent, waitress to pick up cash and tips.
This is anfun read, keeps you entertained love the little digs. They are both not their typical types, but are they? Pick it up and you will not be able to put it down. Heartfelt
Katy Regnery you have outdone yourself once again, and never disappoint.

Summer in Skagway is the newest book in Katy Regnery's The Odds are Good series, and it was a fun, entertaining read.

Tanner grew up in Alaska and still loves and works at his family's campground near Skagway. The previous summer Tanner had a fling with a seasonal worker that ended when she tried to manipulate him in a number of ways. When he finds out his ex is returning he puts an ad in The Odds are Good magazine looking for a fake fiance.

McKenna, a professor from Seattle, is looking for a way to make some extra money to pay for her grandmother's care. She answers the ad thinking it will be easy money. Especially when she and Tanner agree it's just an arrangement and nothing more. However, it doesn't take long before there are sparks between them.

Tanner and McKenna definitely had chemistry, but some of my favorite moments are when they would open up to one another and bonded over their pasts and the baggage they each have. It was nice to see the emotional connection in addition to their attraction.

I liked that you get a good sense of Skagway, Tanner's family's campground, and the area in general. It really made the town feel like a third main character. Tanner's family also added a lot of humor and fun to the story. I would love to see more of them in future books.

Another amazing story by the exceptional Katy Regnery! The story of McKenna and Tanner does not disappoint. It’s sexy and sweet. Once again Katy has crafted a beautiful landscape with her words. My only complaint, it ended too soon and I want more. More Alaska, more Tanner and McKenna and more Stewarts.

This was a great read. A fake engagement that turns into real feelings. I enjoyed reading about Tanner and McKenna's journey to love. There was bumps in the road but it made you understand the characters better. I laughed, cried and swooned through out the story.

Maybe I’m feeling my age, but I felt both MC’s acted younger than their indicated age. Especially Tanner. His concern about going on a sexual fast because his initially agreed-upon-relationship-with-McKenna-was-to-be-chaste seemed a very juvenile reaction.
The story moves along quickly. Interesting that the abusive partner was female which is not often spoken of. I questioned the effectiveness of Tanner’s solution of dealing with Ramona. I cried a couple tears on the death of a parental figure. The book was filled with beautiful descriptions of Skagway and Alaska. The author even threw in historical tidbits about the area. A nice read but a predictable romance.

This is a fake engagement romance which I usually do not care for but I found this book entertaining. I did feel that Tanner (hero) was somewhat immature in the beginning. Who goes back to someone after that person breaks your nose?! McKenna was a great heroine. This was an engaging fast paced read. I loved learning a bit about Alaska as well. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book via NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
