Upon opening this book you can see this book has been beautifully and wonderfully made. Filled with so much realness and joy led from the Holy Spirit, incorporated with Ashley’s own experiences. You can see God’s love, presence and faithfulness through it all. I’m still in the beginning chapters but I can already feel God’s love for me in it, and how I am not alone. This book is encouraging, inspiring, gives hope and grows faith to all of us who need. Trusting in God throughout it all. This book is a blessing, thank you and love you Ashley!

A much-needed devotional for so many of us in seasons of waiting and struggle! Ashley is so full of joy and relatable to the audience to give readers so much wisdom and peace in seasons of waiting, struggle, and unknowns. The devotionals are well-organized and relatable and end with a daily prayer which is related to the day's teaching and I felt it always gave me exactly what I was looking for and needed for the day ahead. I've recommended this devotional to many friends and is a great reminder of just how wonderful Jesus truly is, especially in the waiting!

I enjoy Ashley Hetherington content on YouTube. She is such a breath of fresh air. Wise, insightful, relatable. The Joy of the In-Between is filled with scripture, prayers, questions to dive into as you strengthen your walk with God, and beautiful inspiration for each day.

A great new devotional to my ever growing collection. It was an easy, quick read. A bit redundant as it pertains to the messages in each day. But the book cover is really pretty.

This is a fantastic book for any young woman (or potentially young man) who is currently in a waiting period in life. Ashley uses waiting situations from her own life that most Christian young adult/new adult readers can relate to - waiting to find a job, a home, a spouse, or just waiting in general when the future seems expansive, confusing, and overwhelming. She uses Biblical lessons and takeaways made clearer by examples from the average young adult's everyday life, like experiences with pets, college, friends, family, and more. I would say this is ideal for someone in their mid-twenties to mid-thirties, but anyone in a waiting season could potentially enjoy it, although the impact might not be quite the same.
I especially enjoyed the layout, as each entry was just the right length to tell a story and meaningful lesson without being too long for someone just beginning or winding down their day. This is an easy, enjoyable devotional book you could pick up and learn from again and again.

Are you stuck in a waiting period? Thinking maybe God forgot about you or that He doesn't actually have a plan for you? Then The Joy of the In-Between by Ashley Hetherington is for you. This 100-Day devotional book is full of stories from Ashley's life and they help illustrate the lessons she is trying to teach.

I first found Ashley on YouTube where I started watching her channel almost daily. When I was perusing the Christian books on NetGalley and I saw her name, I knew it had to be her, so I requested the book. I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to read and review the book before it came out!

I love the personal anecdotes that accompany each devotional lesson. They show that even those who have it "all put together" have to wait and that God does everything in His time, not ours. I especially enjoyed the anecdotes about flying as I am not good about flying myself, so I felt like I had something in common with her, besides our love for Jesus.

Although the book seems geared mostly toward women, I'm sure everyone can find value in the devotional teachings of this book. This is definitely a book that I will read again and again.

Meet my new favorite devotional - a devotional I needed at this very moment. I think Ashley says it best: It's okay to move slowly. In today's world we are rushed and instant gratification seems to be the new norm (hello online orders and 2 day shipping), but that isn't how God works. In this book Ashley shows us that we need to embrace the in-between moments we are having while in our waiting period because those in-between moments are bringing us where we need to be, even though it may be a tough to get through. We need to let go and trust that God is going to lead us to where we need to be. I've been reading this book in the morning and it's such a beautiful book to read every morning to prepare you for your day and remind you that you need to be patient and wait for what God has in store for you. Enjoy the little things while you wait for the bigger things to come.

Thank you to WaterBrook & Multnomah and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this devotional.

Thank you so much to Ashley, WaterBrook & Multnomah for allowing me to be an ARC reader.

I can truly say I thoroughly enjoyed this devotional. From the introduction to the very last page, I loved every minute of it!

Ashley is such an amazing person in general, but she is also an incredible writer and I felt every single word that was written. I loved how she included real world experiences. It made it feel like we were friends and just so much more personable.

Each day was very well thought out and includes so much encouragement. I also really loved the questions at the end each of page— really makes you stop and think about your answers.

I have since preordered the physical copy, and I’m excited to dive deeper in the Bible with this devotional.

You've said, ""Ok, God, I'll obey you." You're ready for the next thing!

And then you sit. And sit. And wait and wait.
What happens in that waiting season shapes who you are and what God will do through you in the present and the future. This books tackles subjects like the understanding and foreknowledge of God, difficulties in times of uncertainty, and loneliness and other emotions.

Hetherington encourages Christians to consider their life with Jesus as a journey rather than a destination shaped by our own hopes and dreams.

I recommend this if you're entering a pause, not sure how long you have to stay in place, or don't yet know what the next steps are. You'll have 100 days to reflect on God's goodness and his absolute ability to get you through to where he's taking you.

The book is a wonderful reminder to wait on God, especially in the fast-paced instant gratification world we're living in. Look to God, no matter your circumstances and give all your hopes, dreams and desires to Him. This is a very inspiring, faith-building 100 day devotional that is so relevant to today's modern day world challenges that we face. Such a devotional I would for sure love to read first thing in the morning at home, at the office and at the end of the day. A powerful reminder of Whom we should focus on first thing in the morning and Whom to thank at the end of our day. Thanks to NetGalley for my advanced reader copy.

Such a sweet devotional as it is so hard it is to wait on God to move in your life. As a special needs mom, I so appreciate that these devos are short while still packed with rich Scripture, and simple questions and prayers. One of my favorites she wrote is “Get out of the dark” as we all need to find the light that God is calling us to. This devo would make such a sweet gift to your girlfriends!

A good daily devotional, especially for someone new to the practice. Would’ve liked to see lines in the page for journaling about the daily questions!

I remember the very first devotional that I ever read. I think it was actually a 12 step book in disguise. It was probably what opened the door for me to enjoy daily bible readings. I’ve read several devotionals since that first one and The Joy of the In-Between (affiliate link) might just be one of my all time favorites.

Hetherington has spent a lot of time and effort to cultivate the 100 brief devotionals that illustrate how waiting is a part of our ordinary lives, while also encouraging us in the midst of those seasons when the waiting feels like it’s taking too long and certainly what we’re waiting for has passed us by.

In a world that’s always screaming to speed up, get more done, accomplish all the things, The Joy of the In-Between is an excellent reminder that we can slow down, enjoy the moment, and trust that God has it all under control.

Whether you’re young and wanting everything to happen right this instant or been around the sun a few times and just don’t know if all the waiting is worth it, this devotional will be an encouragement to you. The readings are brief but jam packed with illustrations of God’s word focused on passages that help us in our seasons of waiting.

Oh, this book. I am not usually one for devotionals, but the sub title of this book grabbed my attention. I am so thankful for it! I have spent the last few years in the "in-between" and in a long waiting season. We have been dealing with childhood cancer and more for the last couple years. Sometimes, the wait and the unknown season seems unbearable. Ashley weaves in stories with Biblical truth to remind us that God really is there with us in the in between. Although the author means for us to be waiting for our "real life" to begin, I found I related to this is many other ways. Place your trust in God’s plan and start living today

While being in the midst of a long and tough waiting season this devotional has been really helpful with refocusing my perspective. The devotions are a quick read, but a little more in depth than most devotions I'm used to, which I like. There's also two questions each devotion which prompt you to think deeper about your faith walk and reflect on who God is and what He has done for you. Ashley did a really great job with this devotional and I'm thankful to be able to read and meditate on this during my current season of life.

Thanks to Netgalley and WaterBrook & Multnomah, WaterBrook for a digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.

What I Thought about the Devotional:
I thought this devotional was sweet. It is a good supplementation with Bible reading. There were parts that were encouraging and hope filled.

What Stood Out:
I like when the author mentioned we need to be grateful for what God has given us. We can pray for godly desires while being thankful for what we have.

I love how the author highlighted God's grace for us. She mentioned there is forgiveness for our sins and mistakes, and even if we veer off course, God will always fulfill his plans for our lives.

Minus a Star:
Some parts of the devotional I perceived were slightly prosperity gospel. I want to point out this was my perception, and I might be wrong. I got the impression with a certain devotion that the author implied God will give us our desires eventually, even if we need to wait a while.
Sometimes Godly desires, for example, wanting children, God says no to.

Scripture, Jeremiah 29:11, was used out of context in the devotional. I point this out humbly. I have used this scripture out of context before, but God corrected me.

I believe this author has a heart for the Lord.
As always, be discerning when reading devotionals, and never replace devotionals for your Bible reading.
