This is the 5th in the Kitchen Witch Mysteries. I received it as an ARC from NetGalley and this is my honest review. Thank you to NetGalley, the author Lynn Cahoon and the publisher.

It's the first one I have read in this series and I enjoyed it. It's about Mia Malone who runs Mia's Morsels and her roommate Christina. Mia has one familiar already and suddenly 3 more familiar kittens show up on her doorstep and then her boyfriend Trent also ends up with a Maltese hellhound, making 5.

As if that wasn't enough craziness, Mia is trying to work on her business as well as a catering director job at a ski resort, take magic lessons from her grandmother and solve a murder where her roommate is one of the suspects. It's a wild ride in the town of Magic Springs and all you can do is hang on and enjoy it.

This was another awesome adventure with Mia and her crew that’d really test Christina and Levi’s relationship as well as bring a new little life into the world. The houseful of cats along with a puppy someone gave Trent was pretty funny. Poor Mr. Darcy was probably not sure what to think about the invasion lol.

I knew who I wanted to be guilty but eventually I started putting some clues together and figured out one aspect of it. I liked the nice, offscreen arrest so at least there wasn’t a tense showdown although at a couple places I couldn’t read quick enough to make sure someone wasn’t in danger. Can’t wait for the next book!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book, and my opinions are my own.

More money more problems. That is my sentiment after reading this book that is truly a lot of rich people problems. BIG problems. I feel for Mia in her job with a boss that she hates, but just trying to make ends meet so she can keep her passion business afloat. And she has to rely on people to run it, which I know is incredibly difficult to do when it is your baby. However, I love how people rally around her and help when/where they can. And then add trying to solve a murder mystery on top, phew I was exhausted just reading about it. This book is magic lite, so there aren't any big magical displays, but more conversations about it, ghosts (who I loved), wards, covens etc. - Good to know for anyone who wants to try this series what they're going to get. I will say the ending was shocking, though I did figure it out a bit before Mia and was STRESSED big time. I also will say I didn't loooooove the comments that the "dad to be" was saying such as "this kid is already ruining my life" to his UNBORN child. That turned me way off of him as a character, but I still id enjoy the book!

I adore these paranormal cozies by Lynn Cahoon and always look forward to the next one. In this particular book, Mia's past comes to haunt her in the form of her ex-mother in law and ex-fiancé who try to charm their way back into her good graces. Mia is happy in her current life and isn't about to fall for the bait. Unfortunately, her assistant Christina is also tied to this family and they're in town to make sure she isn't arrested for killing an old boyfriend.

There were a lot of complicated family dynamics in this one but the author made them easy to follow. I'm glad I'm not in those families!! I very much enjoyed the addition of several kittens and a puppy and look forward to what Cerby has in store for the next book.

I read this in one day and cannot wait for the next installment!

Five Furry Familiars is the fifth cozy mystery in the Kitchen Witch Mysteries series. Mia Malone is working as a caterer at the local ski lodge in order to build capital to keep Mia’s Morsels going. Things are going smoothly in town until Christina’s ex shows up out of the blue. When he turns up murdered, Mia and the gang are on the case in order to clear one of their own.

I have enjoyed this series from the beginning and loved this newest installation. Mia and the gang are great characters to follow along with in this cozy mystery series. I also like how Mia is doing everything she can to keep her business afloat, instead of everything coming easy to her because it’s a book. I think this adds another element to this series that is great. This series throws together mystery, magic and romance and has a little bit of everything for everyone. I look forward to seeing where this series goes next and recommend it to magic and cozy mystery fans!

I can't ask more of a book than being glad that I read it, and I finished Five Furry Familiars, the 5th book in Lynn Cahoon's Kitchen Witch mysteries, with that feeling of, "Yes, that was fun!" I adore the characters in all of Lynn Cahoon's series. The realistic and interconnected people are what pull me back with every book she writes. Christine's dominating mother once again pushes a wealthy ex-boyfriend on her culinary focused daughter. Agreeing to see him against her better judgement, the young assistant/student discovers his brutally murdered body. While no one believes she is involved, the only other suspect is her boyfriend Levi, and the wealthy family of the murder victim are pushing for a quick resolution, so Mia and the gang investigate to discover who committed the murder.
I appreciate NetGalley and Kensington Publishing for allowing me to read the ARC of Five Furry Friends. I have the book pre-ordered but love the chance to get my hands on the favorite series as quickly as possible. Of course, my friends and followers will be hearing all about how much I enjoyed it.

Mia is continuing work at the local lodge while her boyfriend’s mother is running her catering service. Financial freedom is the goal but is too slow in coming. Mia is also feeling challenges from her witchy side. Her boyfriend has been gifted with a pocket hellhound, she’s been left a basket of kittens on her doorstep, and grandma is spending too much time in the library. When her friend Christina’s ex is found dead, Mia has to clear Christina and her boyfriend. Another great Kitchen Witch book.

The fifth full book in the series, Five Furry Familiars, is another great book. The main character, Mia, is very likeable, as are her friends. She is very responsible and runs a tight ship, which I enjoy reading about. Her assistant (& roommate/friend), Christina, is very likeable as well.

The mystery is a good one, with lots of clues/suspects to think about. Mia’s catering business is interesting, as are all the components of the kitchen/catering job she is doing at the nearby lodge to earn extra money. The relationships and main character’s personality drive the story, while the light magic adds to the overall positive feeling one gets while reading the book. I’m looking forward to the next in the series.

Mia has her hands full trying to run the catering service at The Lodge, while also helping Mia's Morsels stay afloat. She doesn't have time to help solve a murder....unless her friends, Christina and Levi, are suspects. Guess it's time to slip on her sleuthing cap again and help find the real culprit.

I adore this series so much. Great characters, intriguing mystery, and a few twists to keep me guessing.
Highly recommend.

Many thanks to Kensington Publishing and NetGalley for an advance copy of this book. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor or expectation.

Five Furry Familiars is book #5 in the Kitchen Witch Mysteries series by Lynn Cahoon.

Mia is working at the Lodge to keep her business afloat. It has its challenges. Then furry familiars start showing up adding more chaos and cuteness. I really like Mia and the other characters in this book. It felt like I was visiting old friends. I like how there was a bit of conflict regarding the change in Mia’s business. It was realistic. I guessed the guilty party early on but enjoyed how the investigation played out. I recommend this book and series.

Thank you to the author, Kensington Books, and NetGalley for the Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

Lynn Cahoon continued the Kitchen Witch mysteries with Five Furry Familiars. Mia Malone has her friend carrying on her catering business and is working at the local lodge to earn enough to subsidize her new business. Both women are dogged by past boyfriends turn up. One boyfriend is murdered and suspects abound. Mia is also a witch with a familiar and suddenly three stray kittens. Witchy problems and old relations need solving. Dig in to the story.

Five Furry Familiars is the 5th book in the Kitchen Witch Mysteries and it is a fun addition to the series. HS characters are likable. Mia Malone owns Mia's Morsels, A catering and cooking school. Mia is also working at The Lodge as the Catering Manager. Her friend, roommate and coworker, Christina, has an old boyfriend show up, which causes problems because he.ends.up dead. Christina and her.boyfriend Levi are both suspects. Mia, her boyfriend Trent, her Grandmother, Christina and Levi work together to figure out who is behind the murder. Grans comes to stay with Mia and Christina. Three kittens get dropped off plus Trent gets a puppy, Cerby and Mia has Mr Darcy. There are the 5 familiars. Trent is a good character. I wish Mia and Trent's relationship was progressing more. I really enjoy this series and have read all of the books. I suspected the culprit but wasn't sure until the end. The ending is quick and relaxing. It is an enjoyable cozy mystery! #FiveFurryFamiliars #KitchenWitchMysteries #NetGalley #KensingtonBooks

Five Furry Familiars is all that is cute and fuzzy. With three kittens and a puppy showing up out of the blue for Mia and Trent, there are cuddles and questions.
An old boyfriend of Christina’s is killed and Christina and Levi need to be eliminated as suspects. Mia and Trent look for answers. There are plenty of diversions that fill out the story with Mia’s job at the lodge, Mrs. Adams coming to town and holding an event, deliveries for Mia’s Morsels, Gran coming to stay at the apartment and giving Mia witch lessons, and Mark Baldwin and wife Sarah’s baby about to be born.
I figured out “who done it”, but it was a pleasure getting to the answer. I think Five Furry Familiars could be read as a stand-alone. I enjoy reading in order so that I can watch the character development and relationships.
I recommend Five Furry Familiars, I mean who can resist kittens and a puppy?
Thanks to Netgalley and Kensington Books for the opportunity to review this story.

Things are never dull in Magic Springs and in Five Furry Familiars it's even more chaotic. Mia and the gang not only have a murder to solve but several other things happen too. Three little kittens are dropped on her doorstep, Trent gets a familiar who is more than just a familiar, and Mia can see and talk to the ghost that is currently living in the library and wants her very own familiar.

The thing I really love about the Kitchen Witch series is how "normal" the town is and how it doesn't matter if you're magical or not. I always love to step into the world of Magic Springs to see what everyone is up to.

Thanks to NetGalley and Kensington Books for the advanced copy for my honest review.

Five Furry Familiars by Lynn Cahoon has Mia trying to make a living away from Mia’s Morsels and having to solve a murder to keep Christina out of jail.

Did Christina kill her ex?

Mia Malone
Mia Malone is a kitchen witch who is running her own business but is employed at the Lodge. This is because Mia needs a cash flow, which pains her to relinquish some control of Mia’s Morsels. Soon, Mia will be back in control of her own business. Mia is still learning about her craft while making time for her boyfriend and enjoying life. I love how Mia takes notes about everything, keeps track of things, and makes her life easier, even if it’s hard right now to see that. Another thing that I like is how Mia and Trent work so well with each other while Mia doesn’t with Issac.

The Mysteries
Mia has two mysteries to solve this time. One is on who killed Christina’s supposed fiancee, and the second is who dropped off three kittens at her home, along with why Trent has a new familiar. All of these things are answered throughout the book. I figured out who did the first one, but I wasn’t entirely sure why since I was guessing who it was. The second one made me sad for everyone as they all wanted to keep the kittens despite what Mr. Darcy thought. Lastly, Trent’s new familiar is something that they are still trying to figure out, as it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. Here’s to hoping they can keep the little Maltese from causing harm.

Five Stars
I am giving five stars to Five Furry Familiars by Lynn Cahoon, and I’m recommending it. Ms. Cahoon has a great writing style, and she makes me feel like I’m a part of these characters’ lives and helping them out. Even if it’s for a short time to solve a mystery so that their lives can return to normal until the next installment, I will go back to read the five books I skipped to read this one. Coming back into a book in this series feels like coming home to a family I didn’t know I missed until I started reading again.

There is a recipe in the back of the book called Chicken Gyros with Tzatziki Sauce.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Thank you for dropping by! I hope you enjoyed this review of Five Furry Familiars by Lynn Cahoon.

Until the next time,

I have a love-hate relationship with the Kitchen Witch Mysteries series. I love this paranormal world that Lynn Cahoon has set in a small-town in Idaho. I love Mia and her friends and family. I love the magical aspect of this series. But I always seem to come away from the books in this series a little disappointed by the mystery. And as I finished Five Furry Familiars, I had that same sense of wanting more.

Now don't get me wrong, I love getting to know Mia better as she's trying to figure out her magical abilities. And her friends and family are a hoot and totally band together to solve the mystery, since a couple of their number are suspects. But at the same time, so much time is spent detailing their day to day lives with a little sleuthing thrown in. And then we get to the last chapter and all of the sudden there's a little overview of how the mystery was solved and the motive and I've just left shaking my head.

I enjoyed the book and will continue to read this series because I find it fun. But I keep hoping that the author will beef up the mystery a little while keeping the charm of the characters and setting.

Although this is the fifth book in the Kitchen Witch series, it is only the second one I've read and both were enjoyable.

Description:
In the latest enchanting mystery from the New York Times bestselling author, Mia Malone is working as a catering director at a ski lodge, but when her roommate’s ex checks in, everything starts going downhill . . .

To keep her cooking school and catering business, Mia’s Morsels, afloat, Mia’s handed off oversight to her boyfriend Trent’s mother while she focuses on earning a steady paycheck. Too bad her mean-spirited boss at the lodge keeps the misery flowing as steadily as the money. At least her roommate, Christina, is still dedicated to Mia’s Morsels—though she’s also distracted, thanks to her clingy mother’s constant demands. And the distraction only grows when Christina’s old flame shows up in Magic Springs, Idaho, in his Escalade, claiming out of the blue to be her fiancé.

The arrival of some homeless kittens, as well as Trent’s new familiar, a cute little Maltese, brings more chaos—as well as a strange spiritual energy that seems to emanate from the animals. But before Mia can figure out what kind of paranormal pets she has on her hands, she finds herself with a murder to solve—when a dead woman is found in the lodge rental of Christina’s suddenly attentive ex . . .

My Thoughts:
I really like this cozy mystery series and plan to read the books I've missed. I adore the way Mia has turned the old building into a cooking school / catering business. It's interesting to read about the wards keeping the building safe as well as the familiars and how their energy helps Mia. I like the romance between Mia and Trent as well. Since this is a cozy, of course there is a murder and and an investigation into it. It's fun to follow the clues of the investigation. There are a couple of -- quirky characters that are fun - Gram and Mia's familiar, Mr. Darcy.

Thanks to Kensington Books through Netgalley for an advance copy.

A nice addition to a paranormal cozy series that features not only humans but also cats and dogs! Mia finds herself juggling lots when her pal Christine's ex is murdered and she's a suspect. How can the two of them find the villain while still keeping Mia's Morsels going as well as their romantic lives? This might challenge those who haven't been following along but fans will find themselves chuckling over the kittens and the various relatives who meddle. Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. A good read.

Mia and gang are back in the kitchen and once again Christina finds herself in the midst of a mystery and this time one of their own may be in more trouble than they can handle. Once again, Mother Adams (I always picture a less flamboyant Cruella DeVille) is back and stirring up all sorts of issues not only for Christina, but for Mia as well. Add in a pile of cute kittens and a new puppy and the cuteness factor as well as chaos are rolling towards a boil over point! This series is both whimsical and serious. The witch factor brings in the whimsical side, but the plots always deal with more serious issues such as finding your own voice and standing up to others when they won't listen to you or interfere in your life too much. The mystery is well thought out and while you know the person or persons everyone is accusing of the crime didn't do it, there seems to be an issue with proving it. This mystery was so intriguing as rather than a plethora of viable suspects, there seems to be a lack of suspects. The author did an outstanding job of making several characters unlikable, yet not suspect worthy. A definite fun twist to the typical mystery when there are almost too many suspects! If you love a good cozy mystery with a witchy influence, then you will love this series. I do highly recommend that you read the series in order so you get to know the town, the characters and their personalities which makes the plots even more enjoyable. I'm definitely ready to see what happens in the next book!!

We are back in Magic Springs, Idaho. Mia is working at the Lodge with Frank as her boss who she detests. She is having a hard time letting go of Mia Morsels to Abigail, her boyfriend Trent's mother. But Mia needs to make money to keep everything afloat.

Christina has a flash from her past with an ex-boyfriend Todd Thompson . He proposes marriage to Christina and doesn't want to take No for an answer. Christina agrees to have dinner with him. A box of kittens are found at the door of Mia's. Gran is worried they might be a gift from the goddess. When Christina shows up for her dinner with Todd. She finds him dead. Baldwin has Christina and Levi has main suspects. Mia needs to investigate to find the real killer.

I totally figured out the killer. 👑 I still enjoyed the book and getting to know more about the former school and the ghosts that reside there. Even though I figured out the mystery I still enjoyed going back to Magic Springs.
